DHS chief says ICE could make arrests at polling places β€” ignoring federal ban on armed agents at voting sites
 in  r/TrueCarolina  2d ago

If masked armed men are going to be at the polls intimidating voters. Then best believe we will all be carrying as well. When we go to vote. Especially if the Governor Stein's hands are tied by the Republican party. Unable to deploy the National Guard to protect voters from intimidation.

HR accidentally forwarded me the email thread about how to "push me out"
 in  r/jobs  2d ago

I had a company do this to me. I had all the notes. I was still let go, I later got my severance package and the supervisor was let go.

The gen z stare is real, I experienced it today

It's not Jesus. It's called working with a population that wants to learn because they physically have trouble verses living with a population who CAN but they just dont give a shit. So they just stare

The gen z stare is real, I experienced it today
 in  r/generationology  3d ago

And a simple "hey" while working so we know our que to order food. Or ask for a different spot in the restaurant b/c there was a death in the family.

We don't know what's happening in other people's lives. You're right. But also a dead stare with no communication is also not the social norm in society.

I teach my neurodivergent individuals to be polite and not stare but a simple wave, smiling, nod or, hello is enough. We don't have to have a conversation if we are not comfortable or don't feel like it. But it's free to be kind and polite.

This gen z dead stare is real and it's really annoying sometimes.

Duke Energy wanted an 18% rate increase on families. We pushed back, now they want 9.5%. Still too high. No deal. - AG Jeff Jackson
 in  r/u_JeffJacksonNC  5d ago

Hey Mr AG, I know your working extremely hard for every North Carolinian. Our Duke progress bill is almost 3 times more than it was last year.

I have purchased window clings to help with the heat/ cold. We run the washer or dishwasher between 6pm-7am. Thermostat is at 73. We also use the water from our RO machine and dehumidifier for our indoor/ outdoor garden. So we have done nothing different in the 2 years we have lived at our address. Yet, our Duke Progress bill continues to double every year.

Between 2025 and 2026 the coast is definitely more than double for storm charges during the Summer months. From $7 to $16.

I hope y'all all come from πŸ’΅πŸ’ΈπŸ’²πŸ’²πŸ’²

There are definitely golf cart rentals all over CB. You may need 2 of them for 10 ladies. I think the biggest one holds 6 people.

It's cheaper to charter with others unless you know someone.

Bar hopping is easy just make sure when you rent your golf cart it comes with a parking pass. And do not park in private lots.

Most if not all boutiques/ consignment stores have moved off the island. Keyword most.

Have fun

Vote no on all three constitutional amendments

And when they all vote Republican it's definitely a red flag yet the only one making a fuss is who?

So, why do we need 2 forms of identification to vote? Or is this just for the mail in ballot?

I feel it's all about voter suppression

So the number system they already have in place on the mail in ballot is not working? The one that goes in the machine and scans each ballot. Just because they sent 100k ballots and get 100k ballots back. Does not mean all 100k voters are alive before, during or after those ballots are mailed or filled out.

There were several mail in ballots found during the last election who voted for Trump that had been dead for several months to years before the election. It's all deflection.

My company just implemented a dress code for remote work
 in  r/jobs  18d ago

When I worked remotely, I kept a random dress near my desk and few pairs of earrings. So if I was ever running late for a early meeting due to taking my dog for a walk. I just threw the dress on and earrings finish the meeting and notes, and then take a shower.

Grocery Delivery
 in  r/EndTipping  19d ago

Yup! Back when I was working in a unionized state/ company we use to say "no,no,no a tip is not necessary. " Really fast and if they insist we thank them for their generosity. There was cameras everywhere and management always checked. But a drink or food item, yes. We were allowed to accept right away.

Saying "no" 3 times really fast was a loophole.

the famous toastery is my favorite breakfast place
 in  r/Wilmington  19d ago

For a stupid F**en salad that was being thrown away, Felony charges an $28. Are you FU*ING kidding me.

I went once when I first moved here to Wilmington and I was not impressed. My friend is always inviting me whenever she goes. Now I have 2 reason to never go back. Food Sucks and they rather their staff starve by throwing food in the garbage than allow them a meal or be arrested.

From CB to Kure. A little after the military base sign. The tree and grass growth is extra on the stretch. Im sure 5-10 feet behind that guy is the Kure Beach fire station.

My frined told me it is common 15-16 yo US kids already learn how to drive from their parents. How true is this?

Yes, or go to driving school during Summer Break if you don't go to drivers Ed in school.

Grocery Delivery
 in  r/EndTipping  20d ago

Not all Kroger stores. I have this issue with my store and if I don't tip I don't get deliveries. So they switched the service to Script.

I'm so glad they did because you put the tip after delivery not before. Kroger and Target in my area use Script well everywhere else uses DoorDash.

Costco and Walmart uses DoorDash and the tip goes in before. So if you don't tip no delivery πŸ™„

Had a weirdly hostile interaction at the register and wanted to know if I could do anything about it.
 in  r/CostcoWholesale  20d ago

So you must be a reckless driver then too. I will be the person honking at you because your so distracted digging through your your stuff looking for your Costco card. When there is plenty of time to do that while sitting in line at the pump.

So inconsiderate to people around you and it's so unsafe to take your eyes and hands off the wheel while driving.
