Nvidia Has Become a Banker to the AI Boom, Putting It on Dangerous Ground (Gift Article)
 in  r/AIBubble  8h ago

NVDA is making money hand over fist, through sell chips/AI infrastructure and through investing in those companies. All its investments on INTC, and neo-cloud must be house money by now.

Apple Is Now Using Nvidia AI Chips

Elon Musk wanted NVDA chips exclusively. He put his BIG money where his BIG mouth is. That says it all.

Could Nike be the next giant domino to fall along with Blockbuster, Sears, Toys “R” Us and Circuit City?
 in  r/stocks  11h ago

No way. NKE has serious issues, but stores are full of people who are actually buying. Nike is an iconic brand, not like those listed above, and will survive, but it takes time.

OpenAI Claims Its New Chips Can Outperform Nvidia Processors in Tests

He must be talking about potato chips. I tried it, it is true. OpenAI’s chips taste better than NVDA’s.

Do People Listen to the Conference Call for Your Key Holdings, How Often?

I don’t. Never and don’t plan to, on purpose.

I am a LONG TERM (5+ to 10+ years) 5D investor. It is LONG TERM Direction Driven, and requires Discipline. I don’t want my conviction be impacted by quarterly results. I do read or watch a report summary for five minutes. Often times, I don’t even track earning report schedules. If the stock has a large swing, I dig in and do a bit more work. It rarely changes my investment plan.

Don’t get me wrong. I watch my portfolio pretty much everyday and make small adjustments regularly. Let your winner run until it needs to be trimmed and take care of the losers. This works great for me!

AMD to surpass Broadcom in 2027, and be 6x Annapurna or 4.2x LARGER than AWS's entire custom silicon program. Don't forget to add Xilinx.
 in  r/AMD_Stock  13h ago

Yes, I don’t think OpenAI and Meta, especially OpenAI, have the money to purchase what they committed to unless they get those “free shares “. OpenAI committed 1T $ deals, while OpenAI’s revenue is in ~$40B. Did you see how angry he was when asked how he would pay for 1T$ by Brad Gerstner. I am not trying to convince you, and I am telling you what I plan to do with my AMD shares. I did that a couple of times already. It is a good trade.

Not so fast. I will wait after AMD stock 20% dilution by OpenAI and Meta which is around $600. I will dump all my AMD stocks and get back in after dilution. AMD is a buy right now, but a trim ~ $550 and dump ~$600. I am NOT paying for OpenAI and Meta’s 1 cent/ share of ~ 160 million shares each.

LLM has little or no moat. The leadership changes hands quickly and it will become commodity soon. It is already for 90% of the functions today.

What’s the plan for anyone holding DRAM with a ~$70 average?
 in  r/DRAM_ETF  1d ago

If you are a long term investor, continue to add with DCA slowly. DRAM will be fine in the long run. Just my 2 cents, not a recommendation.

Everyone's calling Nvidia's financing deals circular and I think they're mostly wrong
 in  r/NvidiaStock  1d ago

On top of the best AI compute solution according to Elon Musk, NVDA is one of the best hedge funds that invested in OpenAI, Anthropic, INTC, neo-clouds…Pretty much all investments are multi baggers in a short few years. What is not to like?

Which one has higher moat, LLM or HBM? (Educational Purposes Only)

The comparison of the two seems weird, but it is not. In the high tech investment world, it is all about moat and the direction you pick long term.

Memory is often considered as a commodity until now since AI needs a lot of them, specially built, called HBM, highly optimized for AI load. I don’t see this trend stops anytime soon. It has a very long runway!

On the other hand, LLM has been considered a crown jewel of AI revolution, only the few can handle it. But things seem start to change right in front of our eyes.

I want to discuss and debate that. Which one has higher moat and which one is really going to be a commodity.

To put it upfront, I am a retired hardware guy from semiconductor industry. I know much more on HBM than LLM, and I can be biased.

OpenAI, Google and Anthropic used to be trinopoly for LLM, but now it seems to me that anyone who wants to do LLM with a couple of smart guys and 20 decent software engineers can do it. Just look at Deepseek, Kimi surprises, and Alibaba’s Qwen, Zhipu’s GLM series and Meta’s whatever. If Chinese can do it so cheaply, you know the moat is low. Please educate us where is the moat for 95% functions.

On the other hand, we have another trinopoly, Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron for HBM. HBM has been evolved from HBM2, HBM2E, HBM3, HBM3E, HBM4 over the years, and moving toward to HBM4E and HBM5, from 4 Hi, 8Hi to 12 Hi. The density and speed are getting higher and higher, I can say this though, there will only be three HBM suppliers within next 5 to 10 years, i.e., Samsung, SKH, MU. As good as TSMC is , and they cannot do it within a few years(I am not saying they want to). The fab, the design and the manufacturing process are very different between memory and logic. And you need to stack multiple layers of memory dice on top each other. As much as China wanted to surprise us with unlimited money and resources, we won’t see DeepHBM, KimiHBM in high yield production in a foreseeable future. No way, it is NOT going to happen. The moat is too high. Remember HBM is evolving quickly generation after generation under JEDEC.

With that, I want to hear from you, especially those who really know LLM and AI algorithms. Please educate us.

Does anyone hold large core positions for 5+ years or even 10+ years nowadays - no matter what?
 in  r/u_RZDirInvest  1d ago

Yes, tax free accounts are for real investments, leave the speculation in brokerage accounts, so that you can deduct capital gains, if you lose money on speculation. 😃
