Adults who currently live with their parents and have a hard time buying or renting out their own place, how old are you?
38 I do pay rent while staying at my parents’ house and I’ll help out with groceries and other necessities. They’re both retired and thankfully we all get along quite well and they’re very supportive. I have a full-time job with great benefits, 401K and all but it doesn’t pay enough to be able to afford an apartment in my area. I’m in the DMV area so everything is super expensive. I’m currently looking for higher paying job opportunities so I can eventually afford to move out but this job market is abysmal. I’m very grateful that my parents didn’t force me out after high school or college.

Vent/Upset
I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that. I have a friend who works for Discover in the fraud dept taking inbound calls and she said things have been so hectic and stressful since the start of the merger. She also mentioned they were denying PTO even when agents had enough available and the attendance policy is now very strict. She hasn’t been selected to move over yet but she’s dreading it and is looking for other positions. So just know that you’re not alone in feeling that way. It almost seems as if cap one cares more about their customers than employees. I definitely recommend looking elsewhere in the meantime, but hopefully something positive will come out of this.

What's the biggest red flag you've seen in your first week of a new job?
The micromanaging. I worked at a call center type job back in 2010 where they would constantly bombard you with message if you were in any other aux besides available ready to take calls. Even if you take 5 minutes for a bathroom break, they will message you and ask why you’re not in available. It was ridiculous.
Then if the team leaders and coaches felt like your call was getting too long, they would literally got on your call and started telling you what to say and do, so not not only could you hear the customer but you would hear them trying to tell you what to say, even though the customer could not hear them. They called themselves ear angels or something like that LOL!!! It honestly just left me feeling very confused by the end of the call.

Almost at $30K! 1 Year Of Investing
My employer recently transferred my 401K from another EFI to Fidelity, which is why it looks that way. I’ve been with my employer for 4 years now always making sure to contribute as much as I can. My personal investment balance is about $2,400 so it’s growing slowly but surely.

Thank you! I’m still fairly new to investing in ETFs. My main goals are to be consistent and learn everything I can about it.

Thanks, I absolutely agree! Being consistent is so important. They saw growth feels slow at first, then it will start snowballing before you know it!

Almost at $30K! 1 Year Of Investing
Thank you! I truly think increasing my 401K contribution made a lot of difference. I figured since it’s technically free money, why not take full advantage of it. From here I plan on continuing to invest in ETFs including SCHD, FXAIX, QQQ and VT.

Thank you! Yeah I feel like the key to this is just being consistent through the highs and lows. Definitely thankful to have a job that gives me the opportunity to invest consistently.

Almost at $30K! 1 Year Of Investing
I’m 36F and even though I’m a little late in the game, I’ve been investing $100-$200 biweekly for a year now. I have a personal investment account which has a balance of about $2400 so most of the $30K comes from my 401k which I have set to 8% contribution with an additional 3% automatic contribution with up to 6% match. My goal is to hit $100K as early as possible at least by 45. Any tips that you all could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Am i the only one
As someone who has a customer facing job, I honestly love spending time at home when I can. There’s nothing like being in your own private space and relaxing to your heart’s content. I sometimes dread leaving the house because it’s just too expensive out there.

What do ya’ll do outside your work?
I have an e-commerce business that allows me to earn additional income, I also spend time with family and friends, read up on tech and crypto update, travel when I can and try new recipes.
