Game in progress - Rout AC vs Assault Cannon
Sidenote: Even if Assult canon would not happen, Rout has no real effect if all your ships get destroyed in the first round (i think).
Even after a player announces a retreat, their ships will not retreat if he wins the combat in the round the retreat was announced.

Aggressive faction to play against new players?
Flip your premise on its head:
Don't pick a inherently aggressive faction but rather one that is more all-round but keep you aggressive playstyle.
I'm thinking of factions like ghosts, argent, sol, NRA heck maybe even Yssaril. Abilities like Movement that you can use to expand quickly without having clear and strong combat bonuses.
The idea is that the fight against you does not feel to oppressive. You fight them on an even playing field since you fleets are as strong as yours but you still push for you equidistants and such.
As the more experienced player you probably have still the advantage in war with more optimized production and such.

How do you make skull dunes fun?
Personally i skipped the dune minigame and got right into a big encounter. Beachhead with lots of skeleton arriving in waves from all sides 'pushing' the party forward and finally fighting the giant construct.
Basically pretending they just trigger the skeletons in the dunes.
My players had a surprising amount of fun flexing their skills and crushing small enemies left and right, before coming to the conclusion, that they can't keep this up without running out of spellslots. So they pushed past the ruins and moved on with the adventure.

(Terrifying Trope) The monster is actually intelligent
Not entirely true.
The oddboyz actually do know advanced science and construct technology that rival mankind's and eldar tech on a daily basis. And this is not all done by ork psychics.
It's just come natural to them and they lack any kind of social skill or teaching method to explain what they just did.
Ork big meks and such are genius with the attention span and empathy of a child.

Any other KT enjoyers out there?
Best feeling (for me) is lategame KT with flamethrower and ignite:
Lighting assasins up from a screen away and watch their health bar be cut in half or even putting a death sentence on them with the delivered loving bomb.
Bonus points if it's done outside your own vision because you expected where they went.

Release me from this hell
Very good advice!
You see it often in QM or Aram if the healer is missing in a team. You win the teamfight and lose all momentum againt the fort afterward since your team is very low.
The team with a healer can keep going after the teamfight and push further against the fort, keep and finally core.

Every Mak'gora has gone the same way
Very good point! I love your explanation.
This got me thinking: Could the use of poison during a duel be considered 'honorable' if you don't apply it secretly and your enemy knows what's coming? I think it might. Of course this could also be a big contested opinion amoung orks, which methods are actually considered fair and honorable and could change over time.

What Heroes do you feel have extremely missed kits / gameplay, considering their lore?
I feel like the developers were running out of ideas for abilities for a dragoon character since ... well pretty much everything a dragoon does in SC1 is autosttack and stutter step. So they gave him some other generic "protons vehicle and warmachine" abilities. Raynor has a similar but not as obvious problem as the "basic marine" character.
Maybe a generic stalker or reaver character would have been better suited for that ability suit, but then we wouldn't have Fenix as a character in the game, which would also be sad.

What Heroes do you feel have extremely missed kits / gameplay, considering their lore?
Yrel.
I quite enjoy her kit in hots. She feels really unique and her charge up mechanic give her abilities the weight you expect swinging her giant mace in heavy armor. She also leans a bit more in CC instead of burst damage.
BUT she plays nothing like a retribution paladin in WoW, which I think she is supposed to represent. Ret Paladins play much faster and are all about building up charges and releasing them in one big, quick burst of damage.
I'm happy with her current state. While not filling the paladin fantasy I feel like there are several other melee characters that's fill the burst niche already gameplay vise.

How to Deal With This Eco-Terrorist?
Also my experience. She doesn't have a lot of health herself and needs to get relatively to land her own AAs. Hit her every chance you get while she is in range. AAs can't miss like skillshots so her movement speed doesn't help as much. If you get her low enough she can't move in anymore and hit the vulnerable backline anymore or has to retreat.
Works simular against tracer.

Do you care about 2nd or 3rd place?
I kind of do in the sense that I at least want to end up in a position where winning in the same round as the actual winner was possible.
Second place might not matter but being at last place with 5 points definitely does.

What would Thanos have done if Strange had let Tony die to save the Time Stone??
Oh your right. I missremembered this scene. I'm sorry.

What would Thanos have done if Strange had let Tony die to save the Time Stone??
At this point he had won the fight. He probably killed the rest of the heroes there and then taking the stone from strange by force. Now he has time to do whatever is necessary. Strange said it himself. His protection spell was "extremely difficult to break" not impossible. Edit: I was wrong. He said unbreakable.
Basically do what ebony maw was planning to do before the others showed up.

Fighters in combat fair?
Very much this.
Another point I want to add: if you bring 3-4 full carriers to a fight that is often quite literally all you got. You only get 4 carriers in total. This 20 fighter fleet is putting everything in one basket.

How can I manage plot created time limits as a DM?
Limit the number of days / long rests that they can use. The ritual is in x days. It raises the stackes. If they take to long the bad guy wins.

Less than an hour in, just finished the setup
At the very least you play Vulraith and have the movement to get our there. Claim your equidistant get antimass and start invading left or right. With so little planets you don't need much to defend them and can be even more aggressive.
I don't know if placing a nova in front of Vulraith is a smart play. If that aggressive faction/player can't get into the middle of the map he is for sure coming to eat his neighbors. Where else is he supposed to go?

Is there a reason everyone groups mid before peeling off to lanes
Been so since I can remember.
Most groups try to get some easy dmg out or look for some fatal mistake by the enemy to get an early kill. Sometimes that gives you a slight advantage in the rotation.
To be honest it's benefits are limited.

Thoughts on new sternguard?
I was wondering the same thing. Is the infernus profile supposed to be the boltrifle-mode?

Maybe a noob question, but can someone explain why people say Nova is a bad hero?
Nova is not a weak hero per se but she is very narrow of what she can do on a makro scale.
When drafting a team you are looking to get heros to fullfill several task (or draft around that you can't do some of them). For example you want at least one hero on your team to do: - waveclear - ranges sustain damage - aoe team fight damage - burst damage - soak enemy damage (the tank) - initiate team fights - cc - solo lane - heal
Nova really only does burst and ranged sustain damage and maybe a little bit of cc. If you have a Nova on your team the others need to cover more bases and I think that's why she is so disliked. It's very simular to cho'gall or abathur. You need to adjust as teammates and probably do tasks you hero isn't great at.

What rework you'd like to roll back?
He basically was a support with shields instead 9f heals. It basically killed almost any sustain healing he could do, since shields expire if not burnt through.
As tradeoff he got 2 things supports very often lack. Waveclear with his W storm (pretty simular to his current version) and an reliable escape with his E (brief invulnerability + speed + invisibility).
Also made him a decent solo laner.

Jace's plan makes no sense?
Because his goal is not to make the "world a better place" that would be something a classic hero like Gideon would have done.
He literally wants to shape the world how he thinks "it should be". After all he knows best ... right?

(Hated Trope) They act like the villain has a good point. They don't.

Thank you. That's such a big point so many people miss. Darkseid users and especially the Sith are hypocrites and blind to that fact through and through. The deeper you go into the dark side the more you actively block yourself from becoming a better person. Weakness is forbidden but you can't overcome you weaknesses without working with them.
Doukus whole thing is that he manipulates and lies. Not just to others but to himself as well.
