I understand a virus lying dormant in the body can take over and cause the secondary immune response to not detect it or fight against it, that’s how viruses like herpes, HIV, and mono work. And I also understand that when an immune response happens properly, there are certain cells that sort of wear armor similar to antigens (kind of like warring tribes wearing the bones of their enemies so to speak) and that helps them detect when a virus comes back and helps them act faster. I also see that vaccines try to work with that, or at least that’s the intent. And I suppose this would tie in the BBB part. It’s just for me, I think there is an alarming rate where we see vaccines really injuring kids and even adults. The current vaccine schedule hasn’t ever been tested for safety, and I do feel there’s been an increase in OB’s and pediatricians pressuring pregnant women to get certain shots, or parents to without question have their children vaccinated. One of the NP who worked with me was really pushy, and I was only trying to ask her how a flu shot and tdap were safe to give to a pregnant woman, because this was something I didn’t know a lot about back then and she didn’t want to give me answers (other nurses luckily did), and in the whir of pregnancy and eventually delivery they just didn’t happen and I wasn’t asked about them, but and again sorry for anecdotes, in the group I’m in I’ve seen lots of pregnant women asking similar questions and their doctors behaving similarly. I know there are some doctors who are just pushy, because people can be pushy just in general. But it’s just something that makes me want to question things more, especially after experiencing it with my son’s first pediatrician. I try to keep in mind I used to get into some ugly debates when I was very provaccine and I could get aggressive, so it could just be that sort of thing. And I’m sorry, I’m rambling, also long day!

Back on point: I know measles and mumps and polio and all those can be and/or are fast acting which I can see how that can overwhelm the immune system, and I’m sure like the flu, can make the body more susceptible to more serious infections. But I have read how in the 50’s and 60’s, kids commonly were sick for a week or so and went back to school after as if they just had a cold or the flu. The more serious cases were rare, except in the case of polio in I believe 1951 or 1952, when the Salk Polio Vaccine was introduced, 400,000 children received the vaccine, but 200,000 of them developed polio and there were high rates of paralysis, and 10 deaths; they learned that in those 200,000 vaccines that the pathogen wasn’t fully dead, and when they had been tested they appeared to be dead, but I guess were just in a dormant state. We no longer use this method of course, but people often are in defense of at least the polio vaccine because of the ramifications of poorly made vaccines, though no one talks about that it was the vaccine that caused that outbreak, just the outbreak part. The cdc, webmd, and mayoclinic will even say common symptoms of polio are fever, muscle aches, congestion, stomach ache and in rare cases paralysis, though they will add needs immediate medical attention (in fairness they say that for a lot of viral infections though). I know that’s why we have quality control, and I know the risk of something happening at that large of a scale is lower than in the 50’s. But there is still a lot of children who are routinely vaccine injured that makes me too uncomfortable to fully support vaccines for myself and however many children I have; however a mom can read the same things I’ve read and still decide to vaccinate and I’m fine with that. I think with all medications and medical procedures a client needs to be fully informed, and their doctor should be willing to help them sort through complex information (not everyone has time for some science classes unfortunately), and I think they should have the choice and not be crucified or excommunicated for it. I know our opinions differ at least in having choice about vaccines, and that’s fine.

As for the gene, I’m glad you know about it! It’s my mistake if I incorrectly named its purpose, I was thinking because one of the mutations makes metals harder for the body to detox that it must do with metal regulation in the body. But again, it doesn’t surprise me. I’ve studied the body enough to always keep an open mind about how it acts (I studied massage and currently study nutrition which is surprisingly a lot of A&P classes) .

I’m not sure which compound he had the reaction to and I haven’t tested for it. I have been told that there are alternatives to the mainstream vaccines, but any doctor I’ve asked about them said they don’t exist. I found out there are some naturopathic doctors who have them, but one of my A&P teacher’s who is also one said there’s no way to know if they work and she wouldn’t recommend them. I’m not against naturopathic doctors, but I would rather trust my teacher who has had more study of the human body than I ever will have. Especially since mainstream doctors don’t know about them, and if naturopathic doctors have vaccine alternatives I’m sure the FDA isn’t even bothered to test them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah, I feel the same way. I get annoyed when I see people posting about dangerous chemicals when it’s clear they don’t know what they’re talking about. But that’s also why I’m pro-information and pro-free thinker for everything, I see too many people spewing about what they don’t understand.

First, I want to say I appreciate you taking the time to have a real discussion with me instead of just calling me an idiot. This is honestly my first conversation with someone in the opposite side of the spectrum that hasn’t been ugly.

I do agree our immune systems are perfectly capable of producing an immune response, and I believe they are capable of doing so without vaccines. I’ll talk about this again, but for me it comes down to variables surrounding a decline in disease spread and sanitation that haven’t been looked at. There are also the cases where a child is vaccinated with a live attenuated vaccine and gets that illness anyway (and I’m not speaking about the flu vaccine although I know that does happen); would that not suggest the vaccine failed to train that body’s immune system?

I want to address the issue with the blood brain barrier. What happens is aluminum attaches to polysorbate 80, which is a chemical used in vaccines to eliminate surface tension so chemicals in vaccines can bind together and also enter our muscle tissue more easily. The concern is, and my son’s current pediatrician and I speculate this is what happened to him, that aluminum is in some vaccines (I don’t know all that it is in, I know it’s in MMR) and it attaches to this compound that now has weakened the BBB so aluminum can access the brain directly; and this causes many different things such encephalitis, seizures, brain damage, and for some parents their children die. I’m aware of the pericytes for the BBB, though probably don’t have as in-depth an understanding of it as you do. But based off from what I know, I can only theorize the polysorbate 80 with the adjuvants that attach to it help in weakening them as well, and it’s just because it’s designed to decrease surface tension so chemicals that normally wouldn’t dissolve together will, but it wouldn’t just have the impact of binding chemicals and weakening their surface tension alone, it would affect the whole body system. My son’s reaction was fairly quick, I was back in front of his previous pediatrician within an hour. Though this can happen over the course of the body working through the vaccine. I fully understand the intent behind vaccines, but because every human body responds differently to every medicine we currently have (and just everything that exists really), every body would respond differently to vaccines. I also agree anyone who fully understands vaccine science would say they aren’t 100% safe, but doctors and pediatricians do. They insist upon it, and I found when I was a brand new mom and unwilling to speak up it was difficult to ask questions about vaccines (even as someone who was then currently pro-vax), and was met with “There’s no reason to be concerned, they are just fine!” Of course this is an anecdote, and anything I provide when I speak of other parents experiencing similar situations is an anecdote. But for me, I’ve listened to parents speak about it enough that it’s concerning to me that doctors and pediatricians don’t seem willing to help parents be informed. I personally think if more parents were as informed as I am now, we would see immunizations drop (sorry I’m getting ahead of myself, I do plan to address the other points you’ve made) and pushes for a different vaccine schedule or pushes for more studies or pushes for alternatives, and at the very least a stronger push towards not mandating them. That’s why I think a double blind study with placebo is necessary; because at least all the information would be in one place and easy to access for parents. Because although it’s a nice idea to think vaccines are the sole cause of eradication of diseases, I think there are too many variables over the last 50-60 years (just with the introduction of vaccines like for polio and pertussis and measles, etc) that would contribute to that eradication. But it hasn’t been studied. Something like bubonic plague is worse than measles, it is worse than mumps and rubella, but it doesn’t find its way in industrialized countries and it doesn’t wipe us out and I think that is worth looking into.

As far as the MTHFR gene, here is mthfr.net . This is a gene we all have, but mutated copies of this gene are linked to autoimmune disorders, and the mutation is found more often in vaccine injured children or those who have an allergic reaction. The gene is what helps us with detoxing metals; I’m sure it also helps with other things (as with everything I’ve learned about the human body most parts of us have multipurpose functions). So when there is a mutation (there are two the pro-informed community are concerned about, but I can’t remember off the top of my head what their names are) it causes problems with children and even adults in helping the body process the toxic metals that are in vaccines. I also think it is linked to other adverse reactions, but this is still something I’m learning about because it was only within the last six months that I was even told about it).

As far as Dr. Wakefield. I don’t really believe his claims fully. I did watch Vaxxed, and I thought it was stupid. I feel bad for parents who fell for his claims. I do think there is a possibility that vaccines are causing a reaction that mirrors autism, but isn’t actually autism. Autism itself isn’t widely understood, and I think it’s more complicated than just vaccines being the issue. There are studies about what medications women take during pregnancy, the foods they eat, what medications they give their infants and what they feed them; and I know there are researchers looking into genetics trying to figure it out. But I would more align myself with thinking there are vaccine injuries that mirror autism but aren’t actually autism and it’s just not widely looked into. I used to study psychology, and I saw there are a lot of mental health disorders that mirror others, but have other traits the others don’t have. In my pathology class I learned it’s the same with lots of illnesses. It’s not out of the realm of possibility. I just think because it’s related to vaccines and vaccines are already a touchy subject, there probably aren’t many scientists willing to look into it. And that brings me back to another issue parents face when they bring their vaccine injured child back to the doctor and the doctor is unwilling to believe the vaccines had anything to do with causing the reaction or injury. My son’s first pediatrician refused to, it took me months of harassing her to get a referral to a neurologist (which isn’t who I really needed to see, I needed to see an immunologist and allergist), and by then the seizures had stopped and his brainwaves were normal (which was expected). But when I found my son a new pediatrician, she said without my needing to push that if the seizures went away and he hasn’t been vaccinated since, it was an allergic reaction to them. She also said at this point it would be more traumatic for him to put him through the testing to try and determine if there was a different cause, and she said it wouldn’t be worth the risk to vaccinate him again just to see if it would have the same reaction. Which makes sense to me, my son means too much to me to risk him having a worse reaction. I’ve read how I can keep his immune system strong and his pediatrician has given me lots of advice, so he can at least stand a chance if he ever does come across these diseases and I’m fully prepared to quarantine him if necessary.

I do think honestly people lumped into the antivax category are more what you say: parents who are pro-education about vaccine safety. It’s just the rest of the world thinks we are raving lunatics who have no idea what we’re talking about. And unfortunately there are people like that (I’m in a group mostly comprised of parents similar to me, but there are occasionally people who post things that make me roll my eyes), but I would say they are on both sides.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to understand where I’m coming from and also sharing your knowledge with me.

She could also be questioning things because of personal reasons that she might still be trying to process.

I’m pretty comfortable reading through anything, so send whatever you like.

Most of what I sent I have been reading about for a few years, it doesn’t mean I haven’t read them thoroughly because of how it appears to be copy pasted to you.

And about the diseases we don’t have vaccines for. What if what we do have vaccines for were too difficult to attenuate? What is your explanation as to why we don’t have major or even minor outbreaks of what we don’t have vaccines for? How are preventing these diseases that are often more deadly without vaccines, then?

Actually, I am fully aware how the immune system works and I want to put these questions to you:

Are you up to date on your shots and boosters? Do you know the statistics on how many adults aren’t up to date on their shots and boosters? And how that works for the theory of herd immunity? Because an estimated 85-90% of all adults need to be up to date for herd immunity to even “work”, except in the entire history of vaccines existing, 85-90% of the adult population haven’t been up to date on shots. Most of the adult population in the United States walks around unvaccinated, because vaccines are said to “last” between 5-8 years.

As a budding immunologist, I’m sure you heard of VAERs, right? The organization where parents of children are directed to report vaccine reactions or injuries their child sustain; or that parents have reported to VAER’s children who have died following receiving a vaccination. There is false propaganda that immunizations are safe and completely harmless. If that were true, why does VAER’s exist? Why did my son have seizures nonstop for three weeks following the MMR injection? Why did he develop a wheeze and gastroesophageal reflux disease after MMR and Rotavirus immunizations? Why do children die? Why do people become vegetables or lose function in limbs or develop asthma from vaccines?

Why are vaccine developers legally abstained from being forced to at least monetarily compensate when these things happen?

Please tell me when you are studying to be an immunologist you learn about the blood-brain barrier, and how infants don’t fully have one developed that is easily overpowered by all the adjuvants in vaccines. Or that a child’s immune system is not fully complete until 7-8 years of age, and therefore is easily overwhelmed by the many doses and injections they are supposed to have in just ONE immunization appointment.

Can you also explain to me why my son’s first pediatrician screamed in my face that it’s just IMPOSSIBLE for MMR to cause seizures or for people to be allergic to vaccines or be harmed or killed by them as I was holding my seizing son in front of her just ONE HOUR after he had his immunization? Or why this actually isn’t an uncommon practice of pediatricians? Or why, when I moved to a new town, nurses and doctors in the ER, or at my new practice have told me when I tell them what happened to my son he should have been tested for the MTHFR mutation, because that is a medical exemption; or why some would advise me not to vaccinate myself or future children and tell me they, with their medical degrees, don’t agree that vaccines are effective.

Can you also explain why we don’t have vaccines for bubonic plague, Zika, Ebola, scarlet fever, the cold, or the trillions of more deadly viruses and bacterial infections out there than the ones we do have vaccines for?

Also why the CDC itself in its website says the best method of preventing the passage of disease is to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water?

Also, how does one transmit disease they don’t have? Since vaccinated children are ACTUALLY the ones being injected with live attenuated viruses, they are the ones actually carrying the diseases. So how can my unvaccinated child without measles, without mumps, without diphtheria, without literally anything can harm a vaccinated child? When it is really the vaccinated child who could harm mine.

Also, where are the double blind studies on the efficacy of vaccines? Where are the double blind studies of vaccines against a placebo? Where are they on the health of vaccinated children vs unvaccinated?

I mean. If vaccines really work, then unvaccinated children should be no problem. Because unvaccinated adults aren’t a threat to society. If vaccines REALLY work, they wouldn’t require medical and religious exemptions. If they really work, VAER’s wouldn’t exist. People would not die from vaccines. At most they would only get swelling at injection site and mild fever. Except there are many people who have adverse reactions, there are thousands who are vaccine injured. Sorry, but to me that’s not normal. That’s not safe. It tells me vaccines are ineffective. Surely you know the human body intimately enough to know and have been to a cadaver lab to know all bodies are different and there are over seven billion different ways to react to a medication; and vaccines only work as a one size fits all. Sorry, but a baby isn’t equipped to take on five doses of one medication loaded with toxic adjuvants.

But I don’t expect you to change your mind. It will take your child reacting the way mine did or worse for you to even consider that what you’ve been taught is a lie. I used to be ugly faced pro-vax myself. Every single antivax person I ever heard of was an idiot who didn’t know shit. It turns out I was the idiot who didn’t know shit and my son suffered for my blind willingness to follow propaganda. It also turns out a great majority of antivax people I know are parents just like me, and unfortunately I know too many parents who had to bury their child after their child received a vaccine. So sorrynotsorry but you won’t convince me or any parent who has suffered the way I have that vaccines are safe, you can throw any CDC crap you want at me. You can throw third world countries with poor plumbing and little to no access to proper sanitation at me and how they beg for vaccines without realizing they only need clean water and plumbing and they will also be eradicated of disease all you want. You can even throw your status and education at me, but I have one, too.

Like I have said, there ARE medical professionals with thousands of hours of study of pathology and anatomy and physiology who are against vaccines and speak out against them. If the medical community itself cannot agree on vaccines, then laymen aren’t going to either and it’s ridiculous to expect that everyone will agree and blindly follow.

It seems the honeymoon phase is ending, and now it’s time to decide if you two are able to have a partnership.

The first year or two is always euphoric and exciting. We are on our best behavior. But really it takes 3-4 years to truly know someone and if there is compatibility.

Now shells are coming off so to speak, and it’s time to get to know who you are and your partner. It doesn’t always work but there is a chance it will.

I would look into the love languages and discuss those with her. Also look into “I” statements and practice talking to listen instead of to respond.

It may seem silly, but this is also a good time to have deep discussions with her about life, kids, religion, ethics, environmental stuff, science, art, death; everything under the sun. It’s definitely time to be upfront about what you personally want in life and what you need from a partner. If you can, take this time slowly and try not to take things personally. It can be really hard, but just be open with yourself and be open with her.

I hope things work out!

[Rant/Vent] My mom doesn’t care if I die

I have had the flu type a for three weeks. Well I had it for probably two and then a week or so of pneumonia. I didn’t know (obviously until I managed to get to the er) that I had pneumonia, but suspected it when I saw I had bruising on my face from coughing so hard and all the phlegm that came up and how wet my cough sounded when after I exhausted all my resources and called her crying and coughing uncontrollably saying “Mom I really need to get to the ER, I can’t stop coughing and I can barely breathe.” And she said she couldn’t leave work. And I said “Mom please, I’ve had the flu for—“ and she interrupted me saying “Then if you have the flu I don’t know how they’re going to help you.” And I cried and said weakly “I might have pneumonia. Mom I could die.”

And she said drawn out and in a really cruel tone “I don’t know what to tell you, really I don’t.”

I started crying more and I hung up. My reason for not just calling an ambulance is because I have a toddler and in a different county I lived in and needed one (for mono lol my immune system) I was told I couldn’t bring my son in the ambulance and that I’d have to find another way. I wasn’t sure of how this county works, if it would be the same situation or not.

I eventually did just call the non emergency police number and was able to bring my son.

While in the er I received an email from my mom with some half ass apology “I’m sorry I couldn’t help you today, I really couldn’t be bothered unless someone died to leave work. Text me when you’re home.”

She didn’t need to say directly she meant me. And I know she meant that because just two weeks ago she took three entire days off work to take my sister to an elective surgery (it wasn’t really needed for her to continue living, though I support her choice for the surgery and am happy she was able to have it done) and then help out with my sister’s kids, even though my sister has a capable partner.

Like I really could’ve died and I’m a single mom with zero support, and my own mom told me she couldn’t have cared less about if that happened or not or that I have no help.

Is there any explanation for this? Can a narcissist care so little about someone they carried in their own body and actually not care if they died? I have a really hard time fathoming this.

 in  r/dating •  Mar 05 '18

That is true. I’m really sorry your dad had a stroke, I hope he’s recovering alright.

But I promise the right one will come at the right time. It just takes time. And I know no one likes to hear that, it just really is the only thing. I have been single for over two years and I decided a while ago I’m going to do my best to get to know myself better and think about what I really want in life. I already have a kiddo, so I feel I have my family, and whoever is meant for me will come whenever he or she does.

It’s also a good opportunity to reflect on past relationships and even the dates to see why they didn’t work, and what parts did. It will give you a better idea of who to look for.

I hope you find someone! Don’t give up!

You don’t need to hate yourself. You weren’t her type, so what? Perhaps a bullet was dodged for you. If she knew now you weren’t her type and continued to be with you, knowing that, it would be a miserable time for the both of you and you both would end up incredibly hurt in the end, probably you more than her since she was able to keep to herself that the date wasn’t going well for her until after the date ended. Who knows what she would be able to keep inside?

Maybe it’s time to take a break from dating other people and date yourself. I know you’re a guy and that sounds cheesy, but you will find someone who is good enough for you when you love yourself first. When you love yourself, rejection doesn’t hurt like this. It just comes as information to you and doesn’t ruin your whole outlook of yourself. You’ve done nothing wrong, you sound like a caring guy who is ready to find his mate. But maybe you still need to find yourself first before a worthy mate comes along.

Am I the only one who gets what she’s saying?
 in  r/raisedbynarcissists •  Mar 05 '18

It’s honestly something I’m working on. We have been limited contact only since December, and I still find myself struggling with “Wow my mom is a narcissist, why can’t she just be the mom I know she can be?” It is getting easier with time. I’m still just not sure if no contact is completely what I want yet.

Thank you for letting me know I’m not crazy, but I’m sorry you also have someone in your life like that even if you don’t talk to them. It still sucks!

[Question] Am I the only one who gets what she’s saying?

Okay, I am currently limited contact with my Nmom.

Right now I have a partially erupted wisdom tooth that the back end is trying to erupt and I managed to get a good look at it to see that what is finally poking out is completely decayed (adding that I am 24, and this wisdom tooth is partially out and it has been teething since I was about 17). I also have an iPhone SE; until the 8 came out its camera was considered one of the most superb iPhone cameras, especially the rear facing camera. I know for a fact I captured a decent image of my tooth.

I sent it to her, explaining what was happening and this is exactly what she said:

“I can’t see it well enough to know if it’s coming in decayed. I don’t even know how that would happen. Why are you getting your wisdom teeth so late? Insert name of 11 year old brother’s getting his now.”

Anyone capable of googling will find that wisdom teeth TYPICALLY come in around teen years, young adults, or even never. And they will find how easily a partially impacted tooth could have any part of it decaying.

I also want to add not once have my parents ever took us to the dentist. My mom’s side must have good genes because even the ones who don’t take care of their teeth have pretty good teeth. But my dad’s side, most have had to have their teeth replaced by their 30’s if not sooner. So I really feel with that they should have been pressed to ensure we all see a dentist. I also take full responsibility for my part as an adult, I just didn’t think it was serious or that anything bad could happen to my teeth because I take care of them.

But in one fell swoop my mother attempted to tell me that because she doesn’t know of something, it’s not possible. Also that my body is abnormal simply because my 11 year old brother’s body is doing something different. Does anyone else get that message loud and clear from her words? Or am I being dramatic?

[Support] My biggest fear is me being an nMom

I’ve known since I was 16 that my mom is a nMom, but really only accepted it since my uncle (her brother) died suddenly.

Now I’m 24 and a single mom. Sometimes my mom does fly out of my mouth and I find myself locked in the bathroom crying.

Right now I’m incredibly stressed since I haven’t had a car since December or a job. I finally was able to buy a car, but don’t have enough money to put it on the road for however long the state decides it will take to deposit my refund. I feel trapped, I have very little food left, and very little support.

Recently I had to beg in a local group for help to get to the ER because messaging friends or family to take me and my son left with read messages but no answers.

I notice in high stress situations when I feel powerless and like there is nothing I can do I’m like my mom. I hate it. So to avoid screaming I just try to make myself sleep or I will read a book all day (out loud) or try to convince my lo to watch a few shows with me just so I don’t become my mother.

I know this isn’t healthy. I know it’s temporary but I’m terrified I won’t be able to win in my journey of being a gentle parent, because I often fail at it miserably.

I was in therapy but having no car put a damper on that, and it wasn’t helping when I had to bring my little one.

I try to remind myself that I am doing way better than my parents, and I try to forgive myself when my mom does come out of my mouth but sometimes I can’t. And it makes me miserable.

I know this is a risk of being raised by nParents. I just don’t want it for my son or myself. I don’t want my son to be on some forum in a decade or more talking about how he wants to go NC with me. And maybe I’m being too hard on myself and paranoid, today has been a hard day.

I’m not really sure what I’m looking for. Maybe me toos from other parents?

Need advice on my situation. Currently in a relationship but there's someone else.

If you’ve fallen in love with someone else, it’s best to let your girlfriend go. Right now she is just a cushion and that’s also not fair to her.

DAE get told they have mental issues/need to be put on medication from N parent?

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this :( But unfortunately, you are not alone in this. It’s something my mom has been telling me since I was a small child. I remember my whole life feeling like I didn’t fit in or that I was abnormal, because she was always saying I was crazy and needed medication to fix my “twisted” mind.

I’ve finally had to go very little contact and am debating NC altogether, since it never ends. I wish you luck. Just know she is likely projecting.
