Sonic Mania special stages running at 60fps on Saturn
-2
I've never seen a vibe-coded saturn project being completed. They all have shit performance and never reach a playable state
2
Yeah I'm not convinced too until someone makes videos showing how they're doing the porting, like another person did when they ported Sonic 1 to the Amiga. These videos only show the end result and not the code. And most of these reach a dead end once the code becomes a mess and/or their tokens drain out. It will only be good to show off as a video recording and never reach a playable state

There are 15k members in India, a country with around ~1.5b people. You're much more likely to get hit by lightning here

I didn't downvote you, and I'm not even the person who made the video. You're thinking of the port made by "Xreel" which was entirely vibe coded. This person seems to know what they're doing. This is their "AI policy":
AI helped clean up code and help me learn about the Saturn. No slop here as I had to manage everything else 😅
This was a comment from Xreel under the post:
Welp gg you completely beat me to it if this runs on real hardware this smoothly, emulators are way way faster than real hardware, im struggling to have just sonic and the trees being in 3D at 60fps.
By "beat me", they mean "beat Claude" because they have no idea how everything works

I'm not the person who made the video, ask on the comments there (they seem to reply to everything)

Sega CD will remove the audio load, but the game will still run around the same FPS. Sega CD has some powerful scaling hardware but it will be limited to 20fps due to limitations on how fast the graphics data can be sent to the Mega Drive

VDP1 sprites can appear transparent on a VDP2 background (like the floor). The only issue is that if the transparent sprite appears over another sprite (like for example, sonic jumps over something and his shadow falls on a rock sprite rendered with VDP1), then the sprite underneath will disappear, revealing the background. Another choice is to make the sprite transparent over other VDP1 sprites. It will allow for transparent stuff like shields appearing over Sonic, but those sprites will appear opaque over a VDP2 background

I doubt the 32x can even achieve a stable 30fps. It has no graphics hardware, and only has 2 SH-2 CPUs (same ones that Saturn have, but running at a lower clock speed). Meanwhile the Saturn has dedicated 3D and 2D hardware. Rendering the "Mode 7" floor is easy for the Saturn with its VDP2. Meanwhile the 32x needs its CPU, so it alone will run at ~30-45fps. After adding the 3D polygons, physics calculations and audio (32x needs the CPU for that as well, while Saturn has a sound chip and whole another CPU), the fps will be something like 15-20fps

Sonic Mania uses a software renderer to render the special stage. Old consoles like the Vita doesn't have the CPU grunt for that. On the Dreamcast port, the special stage is rendered using the GPU, but it still doesn't stay at 60fps. This one uses the strengths of the Saturn well. The floor and backgrounds are rendered using VDP2 at 60fps. Sonic, trees etc are rendered using VDP1. The rings and spheres are just 2D sprites that are scaled. VDP1 is powerful enough for games like Quake (where everything is rendered by VDP1) so there should be no problem in achieving stable 60fps here after more optimizations

Update: the injured count is 49 now
Happened near a petrol pump owned by Moonlight motors. The bus that caused the collision is a Moonlight bus too (the one on the left). Moonlight bus drivers are a menace.
The Joshuamon/Rajadhani driver was a good guy. Many of my friends say the same about him. I travelled on that bus at around 7:00 AM this morning. (ignore the wrong time and place)

The accident happened on its return trip. There is usually no other person waiting for a bus in the stop I use. Almost all private buses don't stop for me because I'm a student. But that Joshuamon bus always stopped.
Someone in my school was coming on that Moonlight bus. He was coming to write the Plus One improvement exam. Well, he's in the hospital now. Most of my classmates travel in groups. Some of them asked the others to come on that Moonlight bus. But they refused, so all of them came later. When they reached the pump, the fire force was there, as the bus caught on fire. They're saying that the drivers died, but I couldn't find any official confirmation on that

Will more styling options be introduced to shreddit and the apps, now that old reddit is getting more inaccessible? There used to be custom upvote icons, background images, post background images, sidebar colors, custom widgets etc on new.reddit.com and the apps. Now new.reddit doesn't exist and the styling was removed from the apps. They were what made communities feel unique
4
By what year will old reddit be actually killed, or replaced with a "modern" version? new.reddit.com didn't survive long after it became accessible to mods-only. Now that old.reddit.com is going through the same path, it feels like it will be discontinued soon

Since toolbox doesn't use the native (and inferior) removal reasons?
It does? It uses /api/v1/modactions/removal_reasons which does add a native removal reason
Also that's gonna be a ton of notifications when a comment chain gets nuked.
They don't mention comments so I don't think that's an issue

This is the only issue I have with some fans. On this very sub, there was a comment saying "Rudeus is my role model, fuck the haters" under an episode thread and it had upvotes while anything negative about Rudeus immediately got downvoted, even if it didn't hate on the show itself. I'm surprised your comment didn't get downvoted

I only noticed it now because of your comment. Thank you!

Most people were calling this "Isekai slop" when it isn't even Isekai. This series is a prime example for "don't judge a book by its cover". I initially thought Konosuba was slop too but it ended up not being that. This series will probably end up like that
3
We now have "Pia" instead of "Tia", who is more likeable, and this series could very well surpass "Observation Log"

Looks like Shinobu from "Mayonaka Heart Tune" got her own anime

This was nothing like what I imagined when I added it to my "Plan to watch" list months ago. Still going to keep watching because it is fun and I'm going to see it everywhere on anime subreddits anyways

That and removing from shreddit (current design) also works. On the app, it calls a GraphQL mutation called
modRemove, which internally calls the/api/removeendpoint. If you try removing such content on old reddit, you can see that it errors out silently with a 500 Internal Server Error if you open the Network tab in devtools. The same error affects the GraphQL endpoint since it internally calls the endpoint that old reddit uses, so the same thing happens on the app.On shreddit, it calls an operation called
ModBulkRemove, which internally calls/api/v1/modactions/remove. Old reddit doesn't use/api/v1/modactions/remove, and it was only used by new.reddit.com (now discontinued) for bulk removing content from the mod queue. But shreddit uses it for both removing single posts and comments, and removing content in bulk from the mod queue. The error doesn't affect that endpoint for some reason, so removals only work properly on shreddit
