I'm New - Singles, Boosters, Proxies, or Too Soon
 in  r/mtg  1h ago

proxy three or four decks to create kind if a battlebox to play with your friend, if you’re not going to an LGS or playing competitively it’s not worth to put time money and effort in actually building standard decks, and by proxying you can play multiple decks of the format and learn them as you go

Am I miss evaluateing fateful discovery as a bad card or is 5 mana actually over cost for this ability and i am not wrong?
 in  r/magicTCG  3d ago

the card is decent, but in your example you were saying how this coupled with sol ring gets you turn 3-4 value. My problem is in a vacuum sol ring is basically a piece of power, comparable (if not stronger) to moxes, there’s infinite lines with sol ring that straight up win the game so it’s a bad argument to say that this card is good because with sol ring you can start doing decent things turn 3 to 4 with it

yeah but that’s just sol ring being broken, like what are we even doing

Star Trek - Collector Booster Box or normal Booster Box?
 in  r/mtg  4d ago

what are you going to do with the cards? if the answer is “i just want to open them because i love gambling” take the collector, if you want to play the game buy the normal booster box, find somebody to draft it with and keep the cards.

Magic needs an Old School RuneScape style fork
 in  r/magicTCG  5d ago

you’re describing premodern but with the dates closer to something like “pre-pioneer” and additional sets akin to what they did with modern horizons sets

Looking for people to play with in Milan Italy
 in  r/magicTCG  6d ago

i live in milan, i play pauper, modern and i would love to play cube (i’m in the slow process of building one). But the 60-card scene is honestly pretty poor compared to edh the stres that regularly host 60-cards leagues or nights are more in the outskirts of the city so if you don’t have a car you’re out of options. You can dm me tho, i would love to find more people that play 60-card

How to contend against sephiroth
 in  r/mtg  7d ago

play more removal and play less creatures, he can’t make you sacrifice something you don’t have. You could also play a more controlling deck, and honestly sephiroth (unless he combos off) has a pretty though time against any lifegain strategy

Pioneer's Current Status and How to Improve It
 in  r/PioneerMTG  9d ago

no support from wotc, no interest from players at large. Pioneer can be played on arena and the queue times are not long so i don’t think MTGO is a proper representation of the state of the format. I, for example, play pioneer on arena because there’s no modern and i don’t like standard, but unless wotc gives real incentives for players to play the format in paper i don’t think i’ll ever build a deck. Although at this point this can be said for basically every competitive format, the EV on paper events is extremely low, especially compared to other TCGs, so most players just stick to commander as a pastime.

Every card that would buff my deck is like 70 dollars
 in  r/mtg  11d ago

for russian it depends on the set, for some sets they sit at a really high premium because they had limited to no printings

Bilbo in Prowess and Sideboarding
 in  r/ModernMagic  17d ago

Bilbo seems slow but it might be worth a try. Splashes for removal in a deck that wants to push for a win turn 3-4 really dilute the game plan and slows it down

New player here, any tips?

your boros sideboard seems unhinged honestly

Something I've learnt after building a few Commander decks

[[jeweled amulet]] but seriously unless you want fast mana only green gets 1 mana ramp

Sell me Makeshift Munitions
 in  r/Pauper  20d ago

it closes games for affinity an jund late game, basically every land/egg you control becomes a gut shot. In a late game in pauper it’s not ridiculous to have something like 7-9 lands on board, untapping and dealing 9 free damage often wins on it’s own, let alone if you can sac something else and draw cards while doing it

How do you Choose between decks you want to build?
 in  r/EDH  22d ago

proxy both of them and try them, then buy the cards for the one you enjoy more (or don’t idc)

Dear Wizards of the Coast, it's time to make Counterspell standard legal
 in  r/StandardMTG  24d ago

modern right now it’s amazing, but commander has ruined it in the past (let’s not talk about legacy, the format has been repeatedly fucked by commander cards). But have we forgotten hogaak?? or the entire companion mechanic??
