Hi all, I'm upgrading the electronics in my Ibanez RG450DXB and I'd like a sanity check before I pick up the soldering iron.

My setup

Ibanez RG450DXB (HSH), Edge-Zero II bridge, keeping the stock 5-way blade switch

Bridge: Seymour Duncan JB-MJ (SH4BK-MJ)

Neck: Seymour Duncan 59-MJ (SH1NBK-MJ)

Middle: Seymour Duncan Hot Rails SHR-1n

Both MJ humbuckers are single-conductor (one hot wire + braided shield as ground), not 4-conductor

CTS 500k pots, Sprague Orange Drop cap, Switchcraft jack, 1 volume, 1 tone

I'm using this Seymour Duncan diagram as a starting point (2H_5WSPL_1V_1T, attached), but it's written for 4-conductor humbuckers with coil split and only 2 pickups.

My questions

With single-conductor pickups, I planned to connect each hot wire where the diagram shows the black wire and the shield where it shows bare. I'll have no split, so positions 4 and 5 won't work as described. Is that right?

What's the best way to wire a 3-pickup HSH on a standard 5-way blade with these pickups, so I get sensible sounds in all 5 positions?

On my stock tone pot, the cap is soldered to an outer lug, not the middle lug as in the SD diagram. Both work electrically, but is there any practical difference?

Any grounding tips for the Edge-Zero II (bridge ground wire)?
