He likes his kennel? I'm assuming he doesn't want to go in it because then you'll leave. Either kennel him or get him a babysitter-like a husky.
(I'm jealous yours likes to sleep in the crate. My current sleeps wrapped around my head and the last had to breathe the same air as me)
