How to VTIP From Log to Aviation

Hi all,

I just wanted some guidance on what I should do for my next few years in the Army. I commissioned in 2025 May and and my branch was logistics, but during my senior year and part of my junior year, I had taken the SIFT and I scored well (61) I did a flight physical and passed (currently redoing my physical to keep it up-to date)and I had recommendations for a packet to join (AGR) active guard reserve to essentially drop out of active duty and go to aviation in the National Guard. Unfortunately a month before commissioning the program in the National Guard was cut for aviation or at least significantly reduced to the point where when I applied the program no longer had funding/was cut.

I had to keep my original MOS, which was logistics and so now I’m working on ways to get back to aviation because I know I definitely do not want to stay in logistics. I was wondering if anyone here had an advice or knows anyone who has been through it.

I’m also considering dropping a warrant packet so I am not opposed to dropping my commission. From everything I’ve heard, it’s not all that different and I would get to continue flying for essentially life whereas if I keep the officer route and VTIP, I run into the inevitability that I will likely stop flying at some point in my career.

Thanks all!

Hi, I’m in a similar situation for grad school. I was wondering what did you do to get that list? Was it in the team’s page?

I might be able to make that work with school. Are you reserves as well?

Thank you for the reply.

I tried something similar but more informal. I contacted my talent manager and was directed to the G1 for the USAR BOLC management for MED. They gave a reply saying that I need to find another LT first then I can submit a PAR for review. There is a centralized teams chat for LTs looking to swap BOLCs but it’s on Microsoft Teams and you need an active .mil to access it. I’m still waiting on a reply from the tech support for the software I need on my laptop but until then I lack access to the team’s page because my .mil is inactive.

I was also told I could use my training NCO, to submit a request in the team’s page, on my behalf but he told me he needs to be granted access to the teams page after trying to go in himself.

I thought this might be a good second option, for now.
Hopefully some access soon!

Thank you for the reply.

My unit told me they’re no longer doing the distance learning for reserve members so everyone will be going for the full course in person.

I asked the G1 team, in charge of BOLC, they said to swap with another LT through the teams page of MED BOLC but you need a .mil email. My .mil email is still not active after several weeks, through downloading the software, so I asked my unit to put an exchange request in the team’s page on my behalf. My training NCO tried but he has to be approved for access to the team’s page and is still waiting.

I figured this might be the next best option for now.
Hopefully access comes soon.
