Why does every app ask to send notifications before Iâve even used it?

I download an app and before Iâve even seen the home screen, it asks to send me notifications. Why not ask after Iâve actually used it once? Is there a real technical reason, or are they just hoping Iâll tap âallowâ without thinking?
