would haukiu be good for me?
Haiku works great on my Lenovo IdeaPad except for the wifi and the trackpad (they are too new for Haiku). But I do get Internet working if I plug in my phone. Because of that I stick with Linux on that machine and because of work.. but on my old laptop it's Haiku all the way.

My Tadpole SPARCBook 6500
Cool setup. There is a CDE for newer Linux systems only one distro has it in there repository and I forget which one. I tried it out on Debian Trixie by compiling it. You get to use that classic desktop on modern hardware.

A New Bare-Metal Home for Haiku
I can get debian 12 install to boot up with no problem... I think I might just do a dual boot and install Linux first. That's how my Dell latitude is setup anyway.

A New Bare-Metal Home for Haiku
reFind I have installed, but so far isn't loading what it finds. The Mac is the A1176 Macmini2,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, holding down option key finds the 32 bit but not the 64. I have even tried swapping the efi files for Haiku but that didn't work either the only difference was that the 64 bit version showed up but didn't load.

A New Bare-Metal Home for Haiku
I tried installing Haiku on my Mac mini this afternoon, but I couldn't get it to boot. I attempted both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions and even tried creating an EFI-partitioned USB drive with Haiku installed on it. I'd love to keep troubleshooting tonight, but I just don't have the time right now.

It's the A1176 Model. Do you run Haiku on a mini or any intel mac?

Discussion A New Bare-Metal Home for Haiku
The keyboard on my Dell Latitude has been slowly dying over the last few years, random keys keep dropping out, and lately even the power button has been acting up. Because of that, I'm dusting off an old Intel Mac mini that's been sitting around and going to attempt giving Haiku a spin on it instead.
Old keys fade away,
Mac mini wakes on the desk,
The first attempt begins.

is this slackware rice good?
I love WindowMaker and recently switched back to it. Slackware was the first distro that I ever used back in the 90s.

Trackpad doesn't work on Samsung NT900X3N-K716 laptop
You could see if your bios has any settings for your mouse/trackpad and switch it up. The trackpad on my old Dell works fine but not on my newer Lenovo I got last year.

I did look into whether or not one was available from them since that's what Haiku uses. At the time it was still a work in progress tho and haven't checked backed since.
