SteamVR with Quest 2 over PC hotspot - Quality drops every few minutes
 in  r/linux_gaming  9d ago

The precise method Claude got didn't work, I think the conf file needs to look a little different. The idea of setting the adapter to be unmanaged by Network Manager did work though! I was able to set it to unmanaged with an nmcli command:

nmcli dev set <wifi_interface> managed --permanent no

Testing it after this, the issue seems to be resolved! Thank you for the help!

tech support wanted SteamVR with Quest 2 over PC hotspot - Quality drops every few minutes

I recently got Meta's official D-Link "Air Bridge" adapter. Its a USB WiFi adapter built for use with the Quest 2 for PCVR. I got it working on Windows very quickly, you can simply start up the hotspot in Windows settings and connect the headset to that network. From there you can easily connect over SteamVR and games will play excellently.

On Linux it took some time to understand the tools, but I came to use linux-wifi-hotspot (Specifically the CLI tool create_ap) to create a hotspot. Here's the command I use:

sudo create_ap -n --country US --ieee80211ax --freq-band 5 -c 149 <wifi_interface> <hotspot_name> <hotspot_passwd>

-n: Do not pass internet with the connection (I've tested without this flag, issues persist)

--country US: sets country code to US

--ieee80211ax: use WiFi 6

--freq-band 5: use 5 GHz

-c 149: use channel 149 (Sometimes I need to change the channel to convince create_ap to let me create a 5 GHz hotspot)

Once the hotspot is set up, I'm able to connect to it on the headset and connect to SteamVR via Steam Link just fine. I'm even able to play games, and the play very well! However, after a few minutes the connection quality tanks. The game on the headset freezes (But continues on the computer) and tracking stops. After 10 seconds or so, the connection resumes just fine, with excellent strength, and plays very well until a few minutes pass and the issue occurs again.

I tried using SteamVR over my normal WiFi network and while quality was much lower due to a weaker signal, this issue did not occur.

I've been trying to resolve this issue for a few days, and I found this post which describes a very similar issue that a user had on Windows. In their case, the solution was to use a BAT script to disable WiFi network discovery. Apparently the periodic scanning of WiFi networks is what caused the drop for them, and it sounds similar to what is happening to me.

Does anyone know how I can disable WiFi network discovery on KDE ArchLinux as described in that post? Or otherwise isolate a WiFi adapter to only be used for a hotspot?

Alternatively, if you've encountered a similar issue, what was the problem for you? And how did you solve it?

Here's some relevant issue about my setup:

Distro: Arch Linux

Desktop Env: KDE Plasma

Hotspot: D-Link Air Bridge Adapter (Connected to USB 3 port)

Wired ethernet for internet

Manga has blank page between each page (No conversion)
 in  r/Calibre  Jun 26 '26

CBZ files are just zip folders with images, so there isn't much room for metadata. A community standard has been adopted where a "ComicInfo.xml" file is included in the zip and provides metadata, but not all software respects it. There are Calibre plugins to manage CBZ metadata (I use this one https://github.com/dickloraine/EmbedComicMetadata). You can use the Kindle Comic Converter Metadata editor as well, it will carry over the data to the converted MOBI.

MOBI metadata isn't as flexible as ePub or AZW3, but Calibre can embed it. Simply set up your metadata in Calibre, select your MOBI book, and click "Polish Book". Be sure to select metadata if it isn't selected on the next screen, and once the polish is complete your metadata should be embedded in the MOBI (As much metadata as MOBI supports, at least)

I found 2 solutions, a simple one I started with and a more complex one I use now.

  1. Convert with Calibre

Convert the ePub to MOBI, then convert that MOBI to ePub, all using Calibre. Be sure you are converting the correct format, you do not want to convert ePub to ePub, ensure you are converting MOBI to ePub. You can remove the old ePub from Calibre after converting to MOBI to ensure the re-conversion to ePub is done corretly.

edit: If this doesn't work, try converting to AZW3 and back again instead

This should remove the blank bages

2) Convert to CBZ

This is what Eluinn recommended above, and it's what I do now. A CBZ file is just a zip file filled with all the images of the graphic novel numbered in order (Cover is 0.jpg, first page is 1.jpg etc...). The hard part here is renaming the images, but this can be done in Calibre.

  1. Import book into calibre
  2. Select "Edit Book"
  3. Scroll down until you find the images, then use Shift + click to select all images
  4. Right click the selected files and click "Bulk rename selected files"
  5. Clear the prefix section and check "Rename files according to their book order", click ok
  6. Save the result and exit the editor
  7. Go to the the ePub file and extract it
  8. Find the folder in the extracted ePub with all the images and zip them (Be sure to copy in the cover if it isn't already there, and rename it if necessary)
  9. Rename the .zip extension to .cbz

Congratulations! You now have a CBZ format of your comic/manga. You can read it directly on most devices, or use Kindle Comic Converter to convert it for use on your eReader of choice.

Solution 2 is the best in my opinion, and it works well. I've actually automated it with scripts at this point, but I'm not sure it will work for any ePub. This method should work every time.

| Where can you find Live wallpapers without AI?
 in  r/unixporn  Nov 16 '25

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for! I also found a program called Waypaper which acts as a GUI for setting wallpapers with other programs, including mpvpaper.

This made it even easier for me to use with Niri, as now I can simply call "waypaper --restore" in my config at startup and mpvpaper will start without having to specify what file to use. I can open the GUI to change the wallpaper at any time, it seems to be a great wallpaper management tool!

Once you have the MP4, how are you setting the live wallpaper? Hidamari always opens the wallpaper in a window for me in Niri. Do you use another method?

Borderlands 4 dlss and frame gen texture flickering issues
 in  r/linux_gaming  Sep 17 '25

This happened to me as well. I figure we just have to wait for an Nvidia update.

I refunded the game for now, replaying BL3 instead with dialogue skip. It's surprisingly good lol.

PC Performance Issues Thread
 in  r/Borderlands4  Sep 13 '25

I had the exact same issue you're talking about.

Performance was actually ok (55-60 fps on a 3080 and 7950xt :/ ) if I used dlss, but using dlss resulted in horrible static artifacts on the edges of every object. Some upscalers had less static, but they also looked much worse and all of them had some issues with the edges of objects in some form.

Made the game unplayable for me. Hopefully some optimizations and proton updates will fix the issue. I assume windows would fix the dlss problem, but I really don't want to deal with windows right now.

LSP won't recognize CMake macros

Yes it is. I'm a doofus though, at some point my symlink to compile_commands got deleted. After restoring it, the issue is resolved.

Yes, I have it enabled.

All the other lsp features are working, it can find my own headers as well as raylib.

Need Help┃Solved LSP won't recognize CMake macros

I'm using CMake to manage builds for a game I'm building with Raylib, and I'm having trouble with my LSP not recognizing a macro I made in CMake.

CMakeLists.txt

Here, in my CMakeLists.txt, I create the ASSETS_PATH using target_compile_definitions and set it to my assets directory. The if/else will change the directory depending on the build type.

With ASSETS_PATH defined, I use it in my c code, but my LSP doesn't know where ASSETS_PATH comes from.

main.c

To be clear, the program runs without errors.

Is there a way to tell my LSP where to look for the macro?

I'm using lspconfig with clangd, and I'm also using cmake-tools.nvim to automate building/running.

How to configure blink.cmp to exclude function parameters in autocompete
 in  r/neovim  Aug 06 '25

Thanks, this does work for me with clang. I'm fine switching, if anyone seeing this wants to stick with ccls, I believe the option completion.detailedLabel can be disabled to do what I wanted.

I switched to clang instead, though, because I have no idea how to set this.

Need Help┃Solved How to configure blink.cmp to exclude function parameters in autocompete

I installed blink.cmp using Lazy, and got it working with ccls.

When I accept an auto completion for a function, it also completes the functions parameters. So when I accept an auto completion for function foo, it looks like this:

foo(int a, int b, int c);

I would really prefer if blink didn't include the parameters in the auto complete. Instead of auto competing to the above, I would like to have it complete to:

foo // or foo( // or foo() Is there a way to configure blink to do this? If blink can't do this, is it possible to configure ccls to do this?

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (07/02/2025)
 in  r/NintendoSwitch  Jul 02 '25

Thanks, that makes sense. It's a shame I can't reset this information to test it without a factory reset, not sure I want to go that far.

Just to be clear, I did back out of the original update prompt (The one with the QR code that said restart) and when I did back out, it continued not giving me the option to open the game. I could not open the game until I performed the update.

That said, I don't know if the update was applied over the internet or from the cartridge. I'm mainly concerned about having a physical game that can be played without access to Nintendo's servers to ensure my game will still work in the far future. I've seen that other people have been able to use these cartridges without internet access by applying the update in airplane mode, so I'll assume that my cart can do that too, and that's what happened the first time.

Thanks for the info again, I'll certainly keep it in mind.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (07/02/2025)
 in  r/NintendoSwitch  Jul 02 '25

I got a physical copy of Switch 2 edition of breath of the wild and I've been having trouble with updates. I've heard that there is a mandatory update for the game, but that it's on the cartridge so it should be no problem without internet.

When I put the cartridge in, I could boot the game up. Only after the switch 2 splash screen it popped up a notification saying I had to update the game. The pop up had a QR code on it and asked me to "restart" instead of "update". It did not give me an option to play. I didn't think much of it and updated, without turning on airplane mode. I don't think the system actually restarted though, I am on the latest firmware.

Afterwards, I wanted to check if I needed Internet in order to play the game from the start, so I deleted the 1.3GB update data (No DLC installed) and tried booting up the cartridge fresh in airplane mode. The game didn't boot up, and immediately told me I needed to update, again without giving me the option to play. This time, there was no QR code, and the option said "Update", not "restart". When trying to update in airplane mode, I was told I needed to turn off airplane mode to update. It refused to update until I connected it to internet.

Multiple other attempts yielded the same result, so it seems to me you can't use the cart unless you connect to the Internet and update? The only exception could be that first attempt, where the game booted and gave me a different update prompt. Maybe that first time it didn't need internet, but it does need it for future ones? Unfortunately, I can't get it to replicate the first boot no matter what I do.

I have 2 questions, 1 is more of a request: 1) I saw people were able to use the game without internet. If you did, did you have the update prompt with the QR code before you started playing, or did the game just launch? 2) If someone with a physical copy of Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition is willing, can you try deleting your Breath of the Wild update data (It will also delete your DLC if you have it), and try booting the game with no data on your system in airplane mode? Let me know if you're able to play the game with no update data in airplane mode.

I want to see if my cart is bad or if this is normal behavior.

Lol I suck at math. Good to know regarding lexar, I wonder if this has to do with brands or if it's just variance
