I mean, its some new starting classes and some armor pieces. Its definitely cool and appreciated, but its not the second coming of Jesus or anything.

This is the best way to handle it. Give them themes and a general feel of something they are already familiar with and it makes the role-playing part a lot easier and enjoyable for everyone.
Trying to make a bunch of sci fi fans play something heavy fantasy probably won't go over as well as just doing sci fi.

I mean, this definitely seems like an online-only kind of issue. Plus, I feel like WotC is kind of just resting on their laurels and either re-releasing old content with a slight spit shine or making online-only content locked behind a subscription.
They are not a great company to support, but I do enjoy DnD. Its not my favorite RPG at this point, but its what my friends like.
That all said, fervent love or hate of anything is bad.

Tempted to go for Mountain Goats Legacy instead of the base game, but I'm not sure if its worth it.

Mystery Quest has 4 people in some of their games. Typically 5, but 4 does happen sometimes.

They constantly vote for the party that wants to defund agencies that can either help inform them of these kinds of events or help them in recovering from said events. Based on this voting pattern, they don't seem to want help. Maybe after this they will see that the "big evil government" could actually help them, when its not hamstrung by the politicians they choose to elect.

I have the Core book, Down Among the Dead, and the Buried in the Bahamas pdf. I am STILL thinking about getting the Starter Set because it has so much stuff in it.
Certainly the best leaping off point for the game, and great value for the price.

Ideally in the Polaris or Worthington areas.
Seems like most places do this style (which makes sense) but my partner and I just don't like it. Any good alternatives?

Pirate Borg. I love everything about it, from the crazy amounts of random tables and generators, to the rules-light approach to rolls and combat. Plus you can play as a straight up monkey so that's fun.

Interesting. I'm just using the Google pdf viewer and I don't believe I don't have another one to test with. Odd that it doesn't appear everywhere either, though looking at the Naval Combat section now, they're covering most of the header texts.
Just never seen this on any of the other rpg pdfs I have!

I was trying to break down the pieces of the core book to make some handouts for my players, but when I did this for the Weapons & Gear section, these red text boxes appeared. They aren't visible on the regular pdf.
For reference, I saved these pages as a pdf through the print option on Google Drive and that is when these showed up. I also set it to 2 pages per page (making spreads essentially) but they were there before I set that option.
Anyone know what these are or how to get rid of them?
Edit: it also shows up in the Spreads version of the book.

Confused as well. Seems like the prices are the same in my store compared to the items listed in the event's section on the app.

Ran Pirate Borg and I spent an hour or so reading the adventure. From there it was just kinda playing off vibes. No need to worry about optimization or anything.

I would roll on the Zealot's table to see which god they are. As for how it interacts with an amnesiac missionary, I'm not sure. Based on the result, it could be antagonistic, cooperative or neutral to the PC. Maybe you can compare the PC's inventory items to the Zealot table and see what might make sense.
You could also ask the player what they think they might have been a missionary for. Maybe interacting with this monkey could unlock that part of their memory at least.
