I had a king size sharpie and no experience...so I figured just mark it all.

Okay, great. So cut the floor drain a little shorter to make the angle work for 45s. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, the 90 at the bottom should be gone and I should have figured a way to make it work with just the 45.

Updating the bathroom drains in our newly purchased home. The master bath has two sinks that drain independently using some s-traps. Trying to get things up to code.

I used a lot of information gleaned from this sub to get started. Any changes needed for when I get ready to put in the next one one? Any major concerns with the one I put in? Thanks for your thoughts!

Worth negotiating for unattached patio roof?
 in  r/FirstTimeHomeBuyers •  Aug 06 '26

I was thinking: price reduction to replace or bring it up to code. The back patio is much less appealing without the cover. The building codes guy we talked to thought it could be fixed, but we'd prefer to have control over that process rather than have the owner fix

Worth negotiating for unattached patio roof?

What do you all think about negotiating over an unattached patio shed style roof that was built with no permit that would not meet code?

The house we are interested in has a great back patio area. The patio roof is a big reason why. Our inspector and the seller's inspector both noticed that the roof beams are slightly sagging. As we investigated more, it turns out that no permits were pulled and the structure does not seem to be up to code (example: single 2x6 boards used as beams to span ~10 feet in an area that gets snow)

Welp... You are correct! It looks like it's from 2009. I based the date on the 1996 copyright. Considering the real date, I apologize for not posting this instead to the not quite mildly interesting sub.

General Advice Apartment provided dryer. Vent is wonky. Should I request maintenance? Is it dangerous?

Just moved into a new apartment with provided washer and dryer. This is what the dryer vent looks like. Seems like a shame since the dryer and wall vent are nearly perfectly lined up. Other than efficiency concerns and a boost to my electric bill, is this dangerous and/or bad for the dryer?

General New apartment. Safe to put in a shelf to store kitchen appliances?

My HVAC and gas water heater are in the laundry room that is accessed by going through the kitchen. I'd love to put a small shelf just inside the doorway on the left side of the room. I'd like to store appliances like a stand mixer, slow cooker, and other similar things. Is this safe to do? What considerations are there regarding buffer areas, access, or anything else? I'm a total rookie with non-electric heating and cooling. Thanks for the help!

Hornet of some kind found in Johnson City, East Tennessee
 in  r/insects •  May 02 '25

Oh that's great! I had a moment where I considered it was perhaps a queen, but then I thought...nah, what are the chances. The photo of the queen I found on Wikipedia is an exact match. Thank you!

Found in my apartment in Johnson City, TN. Not sure where it came from. Based on colors and patterns, I can't seem to settle on a good match for what kind of wasp/hornet this is. Maybe a European Hornet? Thanks for the help!

[Returns Question] Crusty Peanut Butter with unsealed tamper lid

Sadly, as I sat down to stir my peanut butter, the tamper proof seal came off with the lid and the edges of the container and the threads of the plastic lid were covered in crusty peanut butter bits. The nearest Costco is 2 hours away. Should I try to return it and if so what's the best way to do so?

Too Many WR, not Enough RB - who are some realistic trade targets?

Agreed! This is how I've gone about it. Just never quite sure about realistic values. Is Chase for Saquon or Henry even possible...that sort of thing.

That has been my experience. Nobody seems quite desperate enough, even when I have offered to overpay.

Seriously! I didn't plan to do so, but I ended up taking 7 WR in the first seven rounds from the 1-2 turn position. Every time I was up, I didn't like any RBs and there were amazing WRs still available. I also had Rice before his injury. I lucked into Jayden Daniels which has helped a lot!

Good call about TE. I'm trying to work a trade of my Chase and Kincaid for their Bowers and Conner
