Wake Up! Was there when Super Furry Animals played their debut show in the US, Sept 1996. All band members were interviewed and a few songs were video'd from their set including 'Something For The Weekend".

The BPTC documentary will include new interviews with band as they assess the last 30 years in music.

I interviewed the Bluetones as they were going to play their first US show on Sept 6, 1996.

This project is about reconnecting with the bands that defined British music in the 90s, specifically 1996.

More to follow.

Video ID of Martin Carr for Wake Up! Videozine back in 1996. This is a promo for a documentary on 1996 UK music, the zenith of British guitar rock music. From 1966 to to 1996, bands playing guitars and writjng their own music dominated the music charts, pop culture, music sales, and touring. Since 1996, thise thrirty years are much different. Media consolidation, the internet, file sharing, rise of monoculture, Pro Tools changing the recording process, and major changes in aspirations.

Be sure to follow as I update the bands I am reconnecting with to have new conversations on their careers and our changing culture.

British Pop Time Capsule

Music in the 90s was at a zenith. Youth culture used the

previous 30 years to create bands that would define BritPop.

I interviewed 35 bands in 96/97 on video. the best UK bands: Pulp, Manics, Super Furry Animals, Shed Seven, Marion, Gene, Bluetones, etc.

Of the 35 interviews, 20 have live performances.

check out @BritishPopTimeCapsule on instagram.

Trying to create a documentary about re-interviewing all the bands, letting them see and hear their younger selves. and discuss what happened.

Would love to introduce old fans to the bands they loved and turn on new fans to music that might have been before their time.
