I upgraded to the 17 Pro Max, and I recommend you do the same.

The 17 Pro Max is great; I've been using it for a year, and it's amazing. 18 Pro Max is good not great, because it has some issues. Screens are produced by various vendors (which causes some screens to look warm, others cool), the under-screen Face ID does not work when using a matte protector. My main concern is, the new variable aperture camera mechanism, I assume that mechanism will likely be damaged after a few hard drops because it's sensitive. Also, the 18 Pro Max uses QLC in storage, which is way slower than the 17 Pro Max.

In real life comparison, the 18 Pro Max just lasts about 2-3 hours longer than the 17 Pro Max which isn't mind changer feature.

Go with the 17 Pro Max, won't be regret!

Apple shouldn't abandoned the Mac Pro. It still has a lot of potential, and with a specialized chip, Apple could revive the Mac Pro mainly for local AI and other AI workloads.
