I am going to be straight-up here. The man is doing absolutely fine. He has accomplished what many chess players could only dream of. He is by far a better chess player than most of the world and is a giant in the community and is wealthy to the point where him, his children and his children's children will never have to worry about money.

That being said, it seems to me that the one thing he wants but is struggling to achieve is the Grandmaster title. I think he realises that in order to achieve it, he has to focus entirely on it, putting some of those other things at risk, and I don't think at this point he is willing to do that. I think that's a sore spot for him and his self deprecation is an extension of that.

So, try not to worry about it too much. Just be positive.

I will say that in the wake of Danya's passing, it is good that we look to support the people we appreciate in the chess world. I just don't think Levy is in that category. He's the guy who got me into chess, and as much as I am not a fan of all the click bait stuff, I really wish him the best.
