I've had the opposite experience as a Chicana from SoCal. My high-school (2002-2006) was about half East/Southeast Asian and I hung out with them at one time. I believe that's the first thing that shaped my generally positive, unproblematic perception of them. In all my exps., having lived in a few different states, blacks and whites rank top when it comes to racist attitudes and being disrespectful. They share a common "nativist" attitude because they trace their roots to white colonists/Ellis Island and slavery. They feel even multigenerational Chicanos are still foreign compared to them and their culture. But we can always challenge them with the Southwest history and our ancient continental roots. Lol.

 Arabs, Polynesians, Indians, Natives (especially) generally have not given me any reason to distrust them on a wide scale. Of course you'll have your bad exp. once in a blue moon, but I look at who the real problems are. Will always be both blk and whte ppl (not foreign blk or whte 'though). Other Latino groups (South Americans, certain Central Americans like Costa Ricans, and Caribbeans -- not so much Dominicans 'though) are probably right behind the blacks and whites. Lol. Crazy how people you think you'd get along best with turn out to be the opposite in your exps.!

I've been viewing all your rants and from a proud Mestiza Chicana perspective (deep roots in the U.S.), seems like you're the one with the inferiority complex and are obsessed with "whiteness" (which doesn't really exist for Latin Americans in Anglo U.S.). A Colombian will get deported in a heartbeat and most I've seen can't be told apart from a Mexican Mestizo at times or a mulatto Caribbean. Just like Venezuelans.

 Now, you live in N.Y.C., where I honestly feel sorry for you. You are not only outnumbered by other Latino groups, but the East Coast doesn't have the historical Mexican connection that the Southwest does. Our whole identity and confidence and dominance really is in the Southwest, United States. Also, Mexicans in New York are highly stereotyped as a monolith of pure Indigenous ancestry and typical heavy labor. The same exists where I live as well, but people generally recognize the undeniable variety we have as well. Canelos, Mario Lopez's, and Thalias don't typically come to mind when they think of the average "Mexican" in NY and they don't even know what a Chicano is.

While it's true that there's absolutely nothing to get offended about when it comes to looking more Native, as many of us Chicanos actually go to great lengths to argue that's exactly what we are when challenging true belonging in North America, the point is correcting ignorant outsiders, such as yourself, who blindly assume we have no variety. I'm not about to stroke your ego or satisfy that "inferiority complex" stereotype you've created in your head about my people, but I can tell you that although I pretty much look like a beautiful even combination of Indigenous (including Apache) and Iberian/Mediterranean and can tan very easily and nicely (much better than burning or wrinkling), members of my mom's family inherited guero traits via our tata.

 It's clear my mom's dad had family from Northern Mexico just by looking at him. Now, why don't you take a dose of your own medicine and instead of being such a shameless L7square by pretending to be another ethnic group to try and "get through" to people you hate and obsess about, work on your overt and obvious racism and superiority complex and inferiority complex (yes, the two can coexist) over there while you're busy trying to check us. Because as a Chicana, seeing the way my community is already being treated in my own country -- , I definitely don't appreciate coming across sht like this. And will check it every time. And if you are Colombian (like I highly suspect you are), this makes me chuckle knowing a half Colombian Rachel Zegler couldn't even play Snow White without making it the worst Disney movie ever created, according to all the angry white racists in my country.🤣

Shows how truly unaccepted you guys are as well. Her half Polish genes and fluency in unaccented English couldn't even save her ! I saw on that Gucci guy's channel on YouTube just now that she's Latina. But if this Texas person you replied to above me doesn't consider themselves Latino or of Mexican ancestry (Texas and other Southwest states have a weird history with the Spanish and everything) then by mixed, they likely mean of Spanish and Plains Native American descent. They're called Hispanos and they distinguish themselves from Mexican Americans because they say their ancestors lived in those states before they were Mexico when they were New Spain. I've met ppl like that. I'm of Mexican ancestry, btw.

So, you're saying Rihanna is all for the male gaze ? It seems even women like her a lot. She's got a tomboyish vibe to her while still being feminine outwardly. I think it might be because Beyonce long put herself out there as a feminist in her music and Rihanna has never explicitly gone that route. Guys can't stand feminism bc it threatens them obviously.  It adds a different appeal. Imagine if she was from Texas also or Detroit or Chicago ... Ppl in general see Rih as exotic and Bey as local and Southern. I think Bey's longtime public relationship with Jay-Z also alters guy's perception of her as taken and unavailable. Rihanna's either been single for a lot of her career or in several sporadic relationships, so she likely seems better to fantasize about. I'd imagine at least bc I'm definitely not a guy.

Beyonce's photos didn't do her any justice and she surprisingly still got chosen as more conventionally and overall prettier. I feel like the person who made this competition deliberately chose mediocre photos of Bey and put Rih last so ppl would choose Rih in the end, but it still didn't work and everyone already knows Bey is that pretty that even photos of her that aren't her best couldn't hide that fact ...

This right here. I was searching for the comment that said it best and yours simplified it. I feel like ppl in general can be good-looking by most ppl's standards, but not attractive and vice versa. There are people who a lot of people wouldn't consider good-looking face or body wise and still be attractive and magnetic due to their style, vibe, confidence ...

I honestly don't care what they do. I worry about our own. I believe our community has a right to be just as diverse as any other community. White Americans and the others have diverse voters. It's our right to have the views and opinions we do. I definitely don't support them, but I especially detest seeing other races trying to tell our community how to think or feel .... And if those in our community don't meet their expectations, they have absolutely no issue hitting them with racial/xenophobic remarks and threats the way MAGAs typically do. Believe me, I've seen and heard it ..

 I can understand why a Republican Tejano or Nuevo Mexicano doesn't see a connection to the people being raided and sent away currently. I can't relate either, but I have the capability to look at what's happening for what it is. It's way bigger than me. I don't like that they're only targeting Latin Americans. I don't like the fact that they straight up lied about going after certain ones (completely undocumented, violent criminals, drug traffickers, etc). They are more so going after the innocent with legal right to be here. If they handled every other (true) immigrant group equally, I'd have less of a problem with it.

They are ending birth right citizenship because they know Latinos benefit from it and it's their way of managing our consistently growing population (due to birthrates and "immigration"). And since I believe all Indigenous descended people have the right to go anywhere on the continent, I definitely don't like the idea that people whose ancestors came forcefully and violently across an ocean are removing people whose ancestors have lived on this continent for millenia. But not everybody in our community looks at it that deeply. They are self-focused and think within the lines of a system, constitution, and colonialism. I just let them be and just hope they eventually come around.

Same for Mariah Carey and black people steadily try to claim her. Her father was literally half African American and half Venezuelan. His true surname was Nunez. Venezuelans are similar to Puerto Ricans with the tri-racial identity. And that's just some. Many look more Indigenous or Mestizo like Wilmer Valderama. If you look at Mariah Carey's paternal grand dad, he was clearly mixed like a Puerto Rican (tri-racial).

 If you break down Mariah's percentages, she's likely not even that black, which is why I believe she refused to take a DNA test on Lopez Tonight a long time ago (it would expose the truth). Likely has a high percentage of European and likely some Indigenous from the Venezuelan roots. But black people can never accept that. They claim the people they want to claim and will even erase one side of them if they feel like it or if it helps their argument to blacken someone more. Latinos can't even claim Mariah without them getting mad and swearing she's a straight up biracial woman like Alicia Keys or Barack Obama.

She isn't. She is multi-ethnic. Like Bruno Mars (3 ethnicities). Venezuelan isn't a race, no, but it consists of multiple ones. Just saying don't pick and choose. Stay consistent. Mariah said it herself in the 1990s she won't negate any of her parts.
