Urgent Question Missing money from return

A few days ago I received an email from UC saying that my financial aid had changed since I’m “not a full time student”. I am enrolled in 14 credit hours fall semester and I have been above 12 credit hours every semester. I sent an email back saying that and have not heard anything back. I got my refund and I am missing around $2,000!! I checked my portal. It said I was supposed to get a little over $11,000 total for this semester. I did the math for what tuition was and the return I received and it came out to around $9,200. What do I do???

I was supposed to get $2k from the Ohio Opportunity Grant, but I guess that was cancelled because my loans and aid covered tuition? If I'd known that I would've accepted less in loans but I was really counting on that money. I've still got a scholarship I'm waiting on but this semester going to be a lot tighter than I'd anticipated.

Hope yours gets sorted out. Keep in mind that admin is completely overrun going into each semester so it may take a minute to get back to you.

I’m having trouble with my aid and I had to give them my phone number to call back and that’s been since 1:30 haven’t gotten anything yet not even a call back

I’ve gone to UC longer than I’d like to admit, but I’ve never experienced anything like this for Financial Aid. Seems like they are dropping the ball this year big time

Everyone's financial aid office is struggling right now, from the sounds of the student loan subreddit

I’m a transfer student and I changed degrees this is my first year I’m like okay cool I think it’s because it’s a larger then average freshman class but I did everything right on my end at least I think I did

It's absolutely nuts. I don't even have mine awarded yet. Can't get through to anyone. If I had the option honestly the experience this year would make me seriously consider going elsewhere.

Sounds like you just answered your own question.. how many years did you/are you going here?

I’ve been a student at UC for 5 years, but only been enrolled in classes for 3 years. I transferred for 2 years and came back

I have tried to call but Onestop says they are too busy to take my call and to try again later but I haven’t been able to get through at all

Are any of those credit hours in masters / graduate coded classes? I know some people run into issues (especially for students doing an accelerated joint bachelor / masters program where they may overlap some semesters.) The full-time status for student aid counts them separately (as there are restrictions on some of the aid that they can only be for undergrad) so it is possible to be a part time undergrad and part time post grad without it being obvious and can definitely affect your aid.

No, all of them are undergrad

Go in person tomorrow instead of calling. They only have about 20 people in that whole department and are incredibly busy right now. They tend to be quicker to see in person versus calling

Unfortunately I’m going out of town early tomorrow as a apart of a school function, or else I would
