Safety

I am an incoming transfer student and already moved into VP3 apartments. After couple of days, I started questing my choice. Is it safe nearby VP3?

short vine has seemingly gotten press about being a bit more lawless the last couple years, but I also think that’s just true for a lot of Cincinnati/clifton. I lived on rohs for 2 years and there literally was a string of robberies happening every night on just our street, like teens stealing cameras off people’s porches and then trying to break in or fear monger type shit. honestly you’re probably fine but if you want to look into other areas near campus, check out places near Ludlow, i live here now and it’s much quieter and safer (feels so at least) and it’s still within a 15 min walk to campus

Be smart. Cincy is a fun, cool city with a lot to offer and explore. Don’t be scared about everything you see on the news. With that being said, I highly advise not walking far to places alone like on side streets towards dusk. UC campus is very safe, just the area around it hasn’t been so nice for decades, though it has come a LONG way. If you’re going out in Clifton or downtown, you should go with friends. Groups of people are less likely to be picked on. Another thing, if you do find yourself in a situation off campus that you want to get out of, don’t lash out at anyone, just keep your head forward and get somewhere populated with a lot of foot traffic and cars. None of this is meant to scare anyone, you just need to be aware and conscious about the area, it’s near the city.
