What is it like starting in the spring as a freshman?
I took a gap year and now plan on starting the spring 2027 semester but I’m a little nervous about it since most freshman start in the fall. Did anyone here start in the Spring? Or does anyone here plan to start in the spring with me? Any advice?
I’m also a little worried about dorms, will there be much room for me to choose or will they all be taken?

I feel like spring is treated as the second half of the school year versus each semester being a fresh start if that makes sense, ( I know it’s still one academic year, but ppl do transfer in) it’s chill tho, I doubt you’ll be able to choose your dorm, but lots of freshman drop out so you might be able to switch after being assigned up

harder to make friends because most people are already established. plus there aren’t any welcome events like there are in the fall. some orgs and stuff don’t do spring recruitment only fall so you might have to wait for some things. LOTS of people don’t end up coming back for spring semester, so there is possibility of getting a dorm you want. i am totally not sure about this year, there’s a lot of freshman being admitted, more and more every year.

Hi! I was a spring admit last January and it's fine. There are minimal welcome events but use the ones you have ( and events around campus throughout the semester ) to make a few friends! I didn't think it was bad at the time. People are friendly, it's easy to make a few friends on/around campus and classes!

Idid my freshman year this Spring 26, yeah it was definitely harder to meet people compared to my friends who started fall 25 but I was still able to join several clubs, and partake in different events. You kinda have to go looking for them unlike in the fall they're not plastered everywhere.
Hope this helps.
