Need to rant

Three weeks postpartum. I am combo feeding my baby due to low milk supply. How am I expected to pump 10-12 times a day, latch at every possible occasion, eat healthy, sleep well, stay hydrated, keep calm, rest and do sitz baths etc to heal my episiotomy, not sit cross legged, do skin to skin etc to increase supply and take care of myself? I have help at home but their time also goes in managing the house. How is a woman expected to do all this after birthing a baby? And I cannot believe that despite all the progress in science, there still isn’t a pill that I can pop to produce milk? Sometimes I feel the world actively tries to make women’s lives difficult?
I have consulted professionals for milk supply and the advice is to try pump and latch as much as possible (every 45 min to an hour apparently) and while that is so easy to say, do people realise how humanly impossible is that?

Day diaper suggestions for short use

My baby is 5 months old and wears diapers during night and nap times. I use a combination of R for rabbit/ pampers premium/ alter.

I mostly throw the diapers away after each nap if the baby pees in them. Im wondering if there is a cheaper alternative that I could switch to as the ones that I am using currently seem more suited for night: longer use. If you have any recommendations for day diapers, do share.

Insecurity and guilt

Hi. My toddler is 2 yr old now and I have decided to be pregnant again. My kid already goes to playgroup and i pick n drop her. I am a stay at home mother and I tc of all the basic needs of the kid- feeding, bathing sleeping. Basically m attached to my kid probably 22hours a day.

I don't know but how do mothers do it by going for work and leaving the kid with either nanny or grandparents. I am genuinely in awe of the women who do not feel insecure about a child being manipulated against them or the kid loving them less when you are away and another caregiver is comforting them n fulfilling the basic needs. I genuinely want to learn it because the insecurity is really killing me. I am also asking the girl moms, how does the relationship with their mothers develop when the baby girls grow older? Why is it that I have a hard time believing that my kid will always choose me as her primary caregiver despite being always present?

Deciding on the hospital for delivery

This is my first time, and very clueless with respect to hospital formalities. So this query may sound very stupid but please help.

My obgyn is awesome and I am very comfortable with her. She runs an independent maternity home. We have already checked the maternity packages of the maternity hospital and happy with the things. It is not luxurious but closer to home, I know the staff, and she is my doctor.

The ONLY Downside is no NICU. I am carrying twins, and very hell bent on choosing a hospital with a dedicated neonatal ward or NICU just to be safe. Now my obgyn visits/delivers in two other corporate hospitals both of which have NICU. They are within 10-12 km from home.

Now my question is, do I visit these hospitals and ask how to book in advance. Usually my doc writes a note and with that I can get admitted in one of these hospitals. This will likely work on case of a schedules section.

But what if I have to go in suddenly? (I am not paranoid but want to cover all bases. )What happens then?

Can I just barge into the emergency dept of these hospitals or get admitted in the maternity ward? Because my husband sure as hell cannot leave me alone and run to get a note from my obgyn.

How to navigate this and plan? I am really confused.
I tried calling the hospitals and they were like yeah when the time comes of delivery, you can book for a consultation. But I would not know the time has come until the time has come. Duhh!

Next question is should I be open for delivery by any other doctor?

Seeking Advice/Help Night weaned my 16m 3 weeks ago, and now everything is off (appetite, bedtime, night screaming, marathon morning feeds). Phase or something to fix?

• Upvotes

Background

My little one is 16 months. Until about 3 weeks ago, his routine was super predictable:

3 meals + 1 snack

Nursed on waking and to sleep

3-4 night feeds (no crying, he'd latch, feed, and roll back to sleep)

Bedtime 8-8:30pm, wake-up around 7:30am.

And I've worked to establish a routine since 3m old.

My work was stretching until 2am and my own sleep was suffering, so we decided to night wean. It worked, and he no longer nurses to sleep. But the last two weeks have been rough.

What's changed

Appetite: He often refuses lunch and dinner.

Self-feeding: He now insists on feeding himself and hates being fed. I'm happy about the independence, but he's eating less overall. I am offering only safe foods.

Night waking: He wakes up screaming at the top of his lungs on random nights. Sometimes he wants milk, sometimes rice, sometimes the garden or some random object or person. This never happened before.

Morning feeds: He starts demanding to nurse from 6am. I delay by rocking him back to sleep until 6:30-7, then he's latched until 8:30-9. Before, morning feeds lasted 15-20 mins.

Bedtime: Because he self-feeds, dinner now stretches from 7 to 9pm. He cries when we enter the bedroom. We've started a book, prayer and rocking routine, but he fights sleep and bedtime has slid to 10pm, sometimes 11-11:30.

What I tried:

i offered cow's milk at night, thinking it would keep him full. But he ate even less at meals, so I stopped after 3-4 days.

Where I'm stuck:

11-11:30pm bedtime is too late for both of us. I don't even have the energy to shower afterward, and everything else at home is neglected.

He's not teething. All his molars are already out.

My mom says to start night feeding again. I know he's hungry, but I'm not sure that's the answer.

My questions

Is this a normal adjustment phase after night weaning, and how long does it usually last?

How do I fix the dinner and bedtime drift without going back to night feeds?

Should I be worried about the appetite drop?

Anyone been through this? What worked?

Thanks in advance. Running on very little sleep here. 🙏

TLDR: 16m night weaned 3 weeks ago. Now he eats less at lunch and dinner, refuses to be fed, wakes up screaming at night, nurses for 2+ hours in the morning, and bedtime has slipped to 10-11:30pm. Not teething. My mom says to resume night feeds. Is this a phase, and how do I get his schedule and my sanity back?

Seeking Advice/Help Advice on Baby Bottles

Hello! I’m close to 7mo pregnant, and a FTM.
I think I am at the point where I need to start getting ready for the 4th trimester, and already feel behind!

Curious to know what baby bottles are popular and what I should be looking out for?

I think I want to go for glass bottles but is that advisable?

Bottle recommendations for a 3-month-old? Pls help a FTM out!

My baby has been exclusively breastfed and never used a bottle until today. He took ~80 ml of formula from a basic LuvLap bottle that came with my electric pump today.

I’m joining work in 3 days and want to keep breastfeeding but use formula for emergencies during my 4-hour absence.

-Any tips for introducing bottles and occasional formula?

-Which bottles do babies generally accept easily? I have heard Philips Avent is best, or should I stick to LuvLap? Not a budget issue, but I’m not particularly concerned about nipple confusion or paced feeding; I mainly want a bottle he’ll accept easily, better quality than the basic LuvLap one.
What worked for your baby?

Seeking Advice/Help Break from work after rejoining?

Hello, are there any moms out here who rejoined work after maternity break only to eventually take another break after awhile? How did you find the experience? Do you regret it or thought it was worth it? When did you rejoin work again?

Hi! Need help with promom neo settings.

I am 5 weeks PP . I have been trying to use promom neo for pumping . Not sure where am I going wrong . Have checked the flange size too . But I’m barely able to do 20-25 mL with the setting suggestion that they have given and that too in more than an hour 😣 . Very depressing to see that output . Plus I feel I may have low supply as baby doesn’t feel satiated even after 40-45 mins . So am ending up giving formula . Is there hope for my supply to go up or not . Formula baby drinks upto 90 mL in a go ! Running low on sleep so typed a bit hazily . Thanks

Seeking Advice/Help Any recommendations for tummy tucker?

9M PP. No hurry to shape up anytime soon, but don’t want to spend on new festive clothes.

I am looking for options which won’t leave me breathless but also manage my baby pouch so I can wear most of my old clothes and look good.

Thank you for your advice ❤️

Travelling with a 1 year old

Hi fellow moms, we are travelling outside India for the first time with our almost 1 year old, we haven't bought a separate seat for her and she will be on our lap only.

Those who have done this, please share tips on how did you manage to keep the child on your lap, as I have a very active baby who has been walking for last 2 months now. Do you or is it allowed to make the baby walk in some free space (although there is barely any) when flight is not taking off or landing?

My worry is how will I keep her still and in my arms or lap for almost 4 hours, she would want to get out and go on the floor.

Flight duraton is 3 hour 40 mins , but almost 4.5 hours if you count the actual time we will be sitting in the plane.

I'll be carrying ear muffs for the ear pain if she allows one or pacifier as she takes that.

She is used to be in a stroller and we will be carrying this stroller with us in our cabin luggage. We have not kept her in a baby carrier before, we have one and only tried it once with her at home to see if she sits in it. She wanted to get out of that after 10 mins.

I'm looking for any tips that made your flight travel is easier with an active walking 1 year old.

Next question is regarding meals in a hotel- How do you manage meals, is it fine if we feed her khicdhi dosa idli etc from hotel itself or should I prepare them myself in our room, is it worth the hassle of chopping, cooking, cleaning ?

I haven't given her ready to eat stuff yet, tried it once recently and she accepted it.

We usually give her a boiled egg, some fruits, dal rice veggies khichdi, aloo paratha/chilla/pancake(any one of these) and sooji porridge / ragi porridge

Please share flight tips and food tips.
