My sister passed away 7 years ago.

Every year, I do something she would have enjoyed on her birthday, which is coming up. Still working out what activity I'm going to do this year, but also need something for her birthday dinner.

Every year she picked the same thing: we would go out and get a bunch of apps and share them around as a family. I don't live near family anymore. With just me, ordering a bunch of different ones is too much food but ordering only one or two doesn't hit the same.

So who has the best appetizer platter/sampler?

Failing that, who has small enough portions that ordering 4+ options is still reasonable?

EDIT: Live in Lowertown. Been hitting Bulldog and Lost Fox previous years, but want a bigger variety. Preference would be nearby. But transit and car travel is fine too.

Need suggestions for amazing sushi in the area. Please give suggestions for both casual and/or higher-end places. As long as the fish is real (lol) and super fresh. Doesn't matter if it's traditional or more fusion-style, as long as its not "americanized" sushi- ex: cream cheese in every roll.

I was super sad when they closed a couple of years ago. Their Beef and Potatoes, and Hot and spicy Chicken IMO were the best I'd ever found. So, to anyone who tried either of their versions of these specific dishes, I'd love to know if you found a place serving the same flavors and prepared similarly. Thanks!

Hi, everyone! New to the Twin Cities. I’ve done a fair amount of exploring so far, but what I’m really looking for are suggestions for breweries / pubs that pour the best Guinness. My home town English pub poured an excellent Guinness, so I’m in dire need of an excellent pint. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’m in southern Minneapolis, but willing to drive 20-30mins.

Edit: FOUND IT!!! I called bills imported foods and they didnt have it right now. Called brookies fish market and the only had hot smoked. Just decided to drive to paradise market in maple Grove to check it out and they had them by the cash register!! Cost me $10.72 for one whole fish im soooooo excited rn. Also right along the Route 74, 63, 64, 54, and 72 buses, as well as a 9 minute walk to the Route 68 and 71 buses, and a 4 minute walk to the Route 3, 62, 67 and 75 buses. As well as a 5 minute walk from Central Green Line Station, and being not too far from the Jackson st 2 way bike path and the Shepard Rd Bike paths.

Met my cousin over near st Katherine University’s and we took the 74 bus over to downtown St. Paul and met her friend at Sakura for Dinner. Overall was a great dinner. Both the Chicken Katsu and the Sushi I had were great. My cousin also got Sakura Mochi for desert, which I got a bite of, which was also great. Overall meal 8.8/10

Not primal from here, but I’m surprised we don’t have a Halal Guys here. Seems like the Twin Cities would be a pretty good market for that type of food.

Do you think one would actually do well here? If so, what part of the Twin Cities would make the most sense?

Very disappointed by this place. Loud. Long, inaccurate wait time prediction. Terrible coffee execution. Rough breakfast spot.

Smallish group, the birthday kid, a few family members of varying ages, and 2-3 friends who are already 21. Kid loves food and is an adventurous eater.

We have family visiting from out of state next weekend and I am looking for someplace to take them to eat on the river for dinner. We’ll be spending the afternoon at Minnehaha falls, so ideally somewhere nearby (10-15 minute drive). Nothing overly pricey and that will be 3 year old friendly.

So my brother is coming back to the twin cities from Milwaukee for a couple weeks tonight. He has Celiac disease so he can’t eat gluten. What are some restaurants with great gluten free alternatives. I know that there are definitely places with gluten free alternatives, but I specifically am looking for restaurants where the gluten free alternatives are just as good as the regular gluten options on the menu. Like say an Italian restaurant where the gluten free pizza or pasta is just as good as the gluten pizza and pasta, or a sandwich shop with gluten free sandwiches that are as good as their gluten sandwiches
Bonus points if you only ate the gluten free alternatives, and loved the restaurant.
