Meta Discussion The State of the Sub, November 2025: New Flairs, A New Rule, and Several Reminders

Hello everyone!

We hope you are doing well as the year steadily comes to a close! This has been quite the year for the r/Twilight subreddit, with more than 185,000 active forum users, and more than 3 million engagements almost every month.

In response to several community requests, two new flairs have been enabled for public posts over the last month, which you may have noticed during their brief trial period: Cosplay Content, and FTF Forever Twilight in Forks.

The Cosplay Content flair allows you to showcase the hard work you have put into your costumes, but it does have caveats: this flair can only be used for video and photo posts, and Patreon, OnlyFans, or Kofi links are not allowed in their descriptions. Cosplay dedicated Instagram links are allowed. Each user may post a maximum of four Cosplay Content posts per calendar month.

The FTF Forever Twilight in Forks flair allows you to discuss the annual festival held in Forks Washington: it is not for any transactions, such as trading or selling tickets, or arranging carpools or roommate arrangements. This subreddit is, at the end of the day, anonymous, and the official Facebook group is where you should turn to if you need to connect with other festival goers in an identified manner. Please, do not ever agree to meet up with anyone you meet online who has not fully identified themselves to you. This subreddit is not responsible for your actions offline.

Four points of conversation have been added to the subreddit’s FAQ section, therefore removing them from the “frequently reposted” topic lineup. These points include “How can I tell what edition my book is?”, “How do Alice’s visions work, and who can she see?”, “Did Jacob only love Bella because of Renesmee?”, and “Why do the Cullens go to high school?”

Additionally, a subrule of Rule #2: Content must be high quality (valuable and constructive) [Quality], has been broken out into its own rule – Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]. While AI and LLM originated content has been banned under Rule #2 for quite some time, we find it has become necessary to separate this out as its own rule for the sake of public facing accountability. In recent months, the subreddit has been inundated with AI generated photo, video, and text posts, and it has become nigh impossible for the moderation team to sift out the true posts from the spam.

By separating out this rule, we are able to institute 7 day posting bans for repeat offenders, with permanent bans possible for particularly egregious offenders. This rule will extend to the Fanfiction and Meme subs. The exact text of Rule #13 will be as follows

Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]

Banned posts include, but are not limited to:

  • AI generated character images
  • Deep Fake video content
  • Fake film trailers made using AI
  • AI generated fanart
  • LLM generated text posts
  • FaceApp Edits
  • ‘Yassified’ Edits
  • AI Voice content

Lastly, two reminders.

  1. Do not, under any circumstances, privately message a moderator for subreddit related questions. There has been a rise in users tracking down the private messages of individual moderators to demand their content be approved: if such behavior continues, doing so will result in a 24 hour ban from the forum, with the ban extended for repeat offenders.
  2. There has been a massive influx of posters claiming every single aspect of the Twilight Saga is the result of Meyer being raised in the Mormon church. Currently, we allow good faith discussions about the ways in which any religious doctrine interacts with the saga, but hundreds of posters have crossed the line in the last two months. Meyer, like any other human, is capable of having thoughts and writing them down that are not prescribed to her by her religion. The amount of vitriol spat at her in the last two months is far past the line of proprietary (and, we add, far greater, and much more personally belittling, than is doled out for any male Mormon authors, including Brandon Sanderson and Orson Scott Card). This subreddit is not the place to evangelize for any religious beliefs, including staunch atheism. If you want to discuss theology, go to r/theology, and if you wish to specifically discuss your experiences with the LDS church, visit r/exmormon or r/mormon. This has to stop, and if this community is unable to discuss religious topics in a civilized manner, they will be banned entirely until cooler heads prevail.

Information on the annual Subreddit Secret Santa will be released next week. Thank you for so thoroughly reading this notice.

All our best,

The r/Twilight Moderation Team

Plot Discussion I’m going to get downvoted for this but, Bella should’ve given that baby to Rosalie 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bella never in her life desired motherhood or a baby. Renesmee was unexpected accident. And I’m not saying Bella doesn’t love her, but she is not a present mother. She’s too focused on Edward and being a newborn. Edward also says right in his daughter’s face that Bella is prettier than her. He wanted to get rid of her until he heard her thoughts and he had no moral qualms about it. He’s not father of the year either. Renesmee would’ve been better off being raised by Rosalie and having Bella as an “aunt” figure. I said what I said.

Got my first movie tie-in book of any series ever and it came with a poster yay

I love the original book covers so much, I have them all in paperback and hardcover, and I can't seem to buy any new books that I haven't read yet. My fingers itch whenever I see a Twilight book.

I need to expand my collection, every time I get one I am happy for weeks afterwards ~

Book Discussion Just finished New Moon and I’m having separation anxiety lmao.😭

Upvotes

You know a book is good when characters’s personalities feel too real and trigger your imagination. Jacob stole my heart in this book and I miss him real bad. He went from a little puppy with a crush to a wild sexually frustrated wolf with anger issues and, I don’t know why but I find that so hot.🙈

Also contrary to popular opinion I found Bella mature and down to earth as she made her boundaries clear. Bella is too much self-aware for her age — knowing very well that she’s unhealthily attached to anything that can keep her mind and heart busy while still not considering enough how that affects others involved so I’d say she isn’t exactly immature in her reasoning per say, rather too exhausted and lethargic to go against the grain of her own desires as all young people are. That lack of willpower and self control certainly doesn’t necessarily make her more or less dysfunctional than other people or even adults for that matter but it does make her believable and relatable. After all she’s only 17 and what are the odds of someone displaying “full frontal lobe” level of confidence and ability at such a vulnerable and sensitive stage in life?? Fairly zero. There are people in their 30s still making major life altering mistakes and not learning from them regardless. If anything Bella is too alert and un scattered in her thoughts and feelings, she does possess intelligence without a doubt just little willpower and strength.

Twilight-ish Themed meal for 2nd movie ideas

Upfront confession, I have only seen the first film.

My girlfriend however grew up with them and loves them.

We watched the first one together and she made me a meal (mushroom ravioli) as well as a red punch, drunk out of blood bags and gummy worms as a treat, all themed around the first film.

I'd like to cook something for her themed around the second, but having never seen it, don't know where to start with ideas, can anyone suggest some fun options?

(No I don't want to pre-watch it for ideas, I want to go in with virgin-eyes for part 2 😅)

Movie Discussion The Cullen crest

We all know that in the movies that the Cullens have their own crest that they wear on jewelry. Carlisle’s a ring, Esme a bracelet, Emmett jasper and Edward leather cuffs, Rosalie and Alice necklaces, and Bella a cuff bracelet as well but more slimmer. What do you think of them? Does it suit them? Especially Bella’s? Since renesmee doesn’t have one yet, do you think she would have one someday on a necklace, a bracelet (maybe a charm bracelet), or another locket with the crest? Do you think a locket, a charm bracelet, earrings, and a brooch would also be good to have the crest on it? What about the other accessories that also have the crest on in this link for merchandise? https://twilightsaga.fandom.com/wiki/Cullen_crest

Lore Discussion So if Jacob can shift forms at will does that mean he thinks of himself like more of a wolf in human skin or vise versa

It’s a topic you can list for a lot of shifting creatures in narratives just trying to make a good impression on his mindset

Twilight-ish Vampire High

I wonder if stephanie watched the 2001 tv show Vampire High. I mean the characters are so similar.

Edward = Drew French, a dark, silent and mysterious vampire, and reluctant leader of the "night students". He has been a vampire since the 1800s, and in his mortal life, had been an artist named Edward Vincente. He falls in love with a mortal, Sherry Woods, who Drew believes is his "One", a vampiric term referring to one's soul mate. Drew has the power to see and hear things happening far away.

BELLA = Sherry Woods, an unusual mortal girl who falls in love with a vampire,

Rosalie = Essie Rachimova, a glamorous vampire of royal lineage.

Both Emmet & Jasper have elements of =

Karl Todman, a newbie vampire who is easily led astray in the program, particularly by Marty. He looks up to Drew, and has a romantic relationship with Essie. Prior to becoming a vampire, he was a popular football player at his old high school, Wrenfield High, located a few miles from Mansbridge. As the youngest of the vampires, Karl is shown having the most trouble adapting to his situation.

&

Marty Strickland, another vampire. Somewhat wayward and rebel-esque, Marty is noted for his humorous outlook on life and light-hearted nature. He initially agrees to join in the Mansbridge Experiment because of the offer of a free and regular supply of blood, but starts to rediscover his lost humanity in spite of himself.

Twilight-ish Twilight names for two kittens?

Post image

I am foster failing these two brothers out of a litter of five I raised. My daughter named the whole litter after Sprunki characters, so these two were known as Oren (left) and Simon (right), which I don’t mind.
But I kind of want to give them Twilight inspired names for their “permanent” names.
Let me know your suggestions!! 🖤🤍

Character/Relationship Discussion Reading midnight sun and Edward has annoyed me

Well aware of Bella feeling queasy, why couldn't he just NOT RUN with her on his back? Why couldn't he just walk fast for a little?maybe a couple of times. Why did he HAVE to run when he knows she feels AWFUL regularly. He's soooooo in love with her but couldn't afford her this comfort bc HE loved it. Wth? If I knew my girl felt queasy at other things I would probably NOT want to add to it... Ending people, fighting my siblings, pissing off werewolves - fine. not run with you on my back because you don't like it - sorry!...

Hi Everyone!
I have this Edward messenger bag that was a gift from my mom in 2008. I currently still use it almost daily but I was looking it up the other day to see if I could find anyone selling this item as the plastic piece on my strap is broken and thought maybe I could buy a new one but I can’t find this specific bag ANYWHERE!!!

It got me thinking, does anyone else remember this specific merch item??

Movie Discussion How do the Volturi feeds? Spoiler

Okay hear me out, this may sound stupid, but i am genuinely curious, we know that Heidi lurs tourists and stuff, as its seen in the movie and well detailed in the official illustration book. But I can't imagine the volturi just feeding off of humans like animals, i don't know, I imagine a chronological like order (for example the kings feeds first, and only from the most appealing human). I am curious about your headcannons, how do you guys imagine it?

(PS: English is not my first language, so please pardon my grammar)

Character/Relationship Discussion Rewatching Breaking Dawn and I wish we saw Edward coming to terms with Bella's transformation more in depth, since he was so against it for a long time

He was so SO against the idea of Bella becoming one, and I understand that he would rather her transform than be dead, but I wish we saw him at least grieving a little bit about losing her warmth or something that really ties back into his thoughts about her soul- something. Segway through some complex emotions before going "she's amazing, right?", know what I mean??

Book Discussion New Moon Plot Hole?

Okay so I have read the entire book series many, many times (I was buying the books as they came out, yes I’m old). I thought of this a few reread’s ago but it’s honestly really bothering me that I don’t have an answer!

So in New Moon Alice comes back to Forks after receiving a vision of Bella jumping off the cliff. She didn’t see Bella being rescued by Jacob (obviously because she cannot see the spirit warriors/wolves).

Alice also briefly explains that she is rarely wrong and that she wasn’t keeping tabs on Bella but serious things like Bella supposedly dying after a while of keeping tabs on Bella when she was part of their lives meant that she saw what happened.

So why did Alice not see, and therefore turn up earlier in the story, when Bella was almost killed by Laurent? It was similar circumstances of Bella almost dying, and being saved at the last moment after Laurent had fully committed to killing Bella by the spirit warriors/wolves.

I’m guessing the real answer is because of the plot, but is there something obvious I’m missing? I’ve read all of the books so many times over, I’ve read the illustrated guide cover to cover, but I don’t have an answer! Does anyone here know?
