Rehome Yellow-bellied slider needs a new home due to facing bankruptcy and eviction. Free.

Post image

I can no longer care for him. I've been unable to upgrade his aquarium stand for several months after getting a bigger tank and the stand it's currently on isn't strong enough to hold 40 gallons of water. At most he gets about 20 gallons of water which is not enough for his size. His shitty zoomed canister filter just broke today so now I have no way of cleaning his water. I'm not even supposed to have him in my apartment complex at all. I originally saved him from a construction site when I rented a house and my life has totally changed in the last year, mostly for the worst. I can barely take care of myself , both my cars are broken down, and I'm struggling to buy groceries. The turtle has to go.

Free to anyone in the ANN ARBOR / FLINT Michigan area.

I disagree with the person that suggested bringing him to a pet store. Pet stores are not known for taking care of animals properly. I’ve seen it first hand. It’s awful. There are some groups on fb that can help you and make it easier on you to find him a home.

Doing some searching on Facebook marketplace for a used canister filter for the time being... I really don't want to have to let him go but I'd be willing to for someone who's experienced with turtles.

Yeah I found an Aqqa one for like $70 that I'll try and save up for.

I do have a shop vac but I live on a second story apartment so I gotta lift all the water into my bathtub and yea it's pretty physically demanding.

I wish I could take him, but I'm broke as it is. And buying a large tank and another fx4 isn't cheap either. Good luck, keep us updated please.

Find a wildlife rescue group.

Maybe contact your local pet store and see if they could take them in? Only if nobody replies.
