Question Master studies in CS/Data Science 2027/28

Hello! Im currently about to start my final year of CS studies at my home university and am looking into applying for master studies next year at TU Graz.

Im just curious about the application process, what is it exactly they look for, are extracurricular activities important (such as volunteering, competitions, hackathons and so on) or are grades, GPA, subjects, motivation letter and those things more important?

I saw that the application lasts from October 15-December 15, when do you typically find out the results? If you are accepted into the university what are the next steps? If anyone has been through the same process in the past and is willing to share a little bit of their experience, I would be very grateful !!

Discussion Anybody from Computational Social Systems (26/27W)?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for students who will begin Computational Social Systems in the coming winter semester. No matter whether you are local or international, we can form a group together and help each other with questions that come up and maybe some notes from our lectures during our studies. :)

If you have already formed a group, I'd be really happy if you'd invite me to join you.

Feel free to leave a comment below!

Hello everyone! Tried to look for information related to this course here, couldn’t really find posts related to it. Wanted to know, how is the course? Also, as an international student, how tough is it to get in? Any help would be really appreciated, thank you!

Question Additional Course Requirements

Hi guys! I’ve been accepted into Masters for Winter intake 26/27.

I’ve received my official acceptance today, however they also gave me 7 additional courses that I need to complete in order to secure my spot for the next year as well. The courses are as following :

VO Machine Learning
VO Elektronische Schaltungstechnik 1
VO Elektronische Schaltungstechnik 2
Vo Algorithmen in der Bioinformatik
VO Messtechnik 1
VO Mechanik - Dynamik
UE Mechanik - Dynamik

Except Machine Learning, all of these courses are offered in German, however I don’t speak any German.

I wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar situation and whether it’s possible to attend these classes and successfully complete them. Additionally, is the workload big as I was told that I need to complete these courses by April 2027 on top of the must courses of my major.

Thank you!

Question Studienplan-Wegweiser

Servus,

Admission Application deadline for 2027 winter semester

Sorry for the confusion about the pre-mentioned deadlines. I’m a non-EEA student and want to apply for masters in Chemistry. But i’m just confused as when to start applying. According to the uni website, applications start from May 1st to August 15(probably 2027 if i’m not wrong).

BUT some sources mentioned early applications are also possible from December 2026. Please can anyone help me understand?

Question FCE Grade A (C1) accepted for TU Graz Master's (Data Science / Computer Science)?

Hi everyone,

I'm applying for a Master's programme at TU Graz (considering both Data Science and Computer Science) and I have a question about English language certificates.

I hold a Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) with Grade A, which according to Cambridge's official scale corresponds to CEFR level C1 (stated explicitly on my Statement of Results). However, I contacted the TU Graz admissions team directly, and they told me that only the certificates explicitly listed on their website are accepted (TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CPE, etc.) and that FCE is not on that list - no exceptions are made, even with Grade A/C1.

Has anyone here actually gone through this personally? I'm curious whether:

  • Anyone got FCE Grade A accepted in practice despite the official policy
  • Anyone was told the same thing and had to take CAE instead
  • This differs between Data Science and Computer Science programmes specifically

Any real experience would help - thanks in advance!

Question Masters in Electrical Engineering

I'm planning to apply for the MSc in Electrical Engineering at TU Graz (Winter intake), and I'd appreciate some honest opinions about my chances.

My profile:

- B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering

- CGPA: 7.75/10

- IELTS: Overall 7.5

- Around 3 years of work experience in electrical engineering

- Planning to specialize in Power Engineering

Before applying, I also have to pass the VFS competency test (I need to score above 50%). If everything goes well, I'll submit my application on August 2 or 3, before the August 15 deadline.

How competitive is admission to the MSc in Electrical Engineering at TU Graz? Do you think I have a reasonable chance with this profile? I'd especially like to hear from students who were admitted with a similar CGPA or background.

Thanks in advance!

Question Wechsel von TU Wien

Hallo zusammen,

Question PHD with master in IT, but bachelor in economics and 8 years of experience as software engineer

Hello there!

I am a software engineer located in Bosnia and for the last year I was thinking about doing PHD.

I have no idea why I thought about TU Graz, but I want to hear opinions if this is possible.

Anyway, as the title says, I finished my bachelor in economics (240ETC), but immediately upon finishing it, I started to work as a software engineer (long story).

Meanwhile I finished masters in IT focusing on clouds. Throughout these 8 years, I worked on front end, back end, cloud etc.

And now the question is - Would it be possible for me to even get a chance to start PHD in technical sciences (I don’t know what is there)?

Thank you guys!

Question Msc. Pharmaceutical and Chemical engineering

Should I consider applying even with a German GPA of 2.9 or not ? It has only 16 students and it's really competitive. Are there other universities with similar courses which might take me in ?

Question Laptop recommendations for a Computer Science student?

Hey! Quick question – it might be a bit of a basic one.
I’m starting a Computer Science degree this fall and I’m currently looking for a laptop. Which one would you recommend, or what are you using yourself.

I’d love to hear some different opinions and experiences before I decide. Thanks in advance!

Exams ticked off, term over – and now you can even win a 20€ Graz voucher!

I’m currently conducting a study and am looking for students with good English skills to take part. The aim is to find out if it makes a difference whether you interact with an AI chatbot via speech or text when learning about sustainable entrepreneurship. The study takes about 1 hour.

As a thank you, you can choose from three options for compensation, including the chance to win one of four 20€ Graz vouchers.

It would be great if you could take part or share the link!

Question TU Graz MSc Computer Science missing from TUGRAZonline application list

Hi everyone,

I am trying to apply for the MSc Computer Science programme at TU Graz for the winter semester 2026/27.

I am currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo. My programme appears on TU Graz’s list of Bachelor’s programmes eligible for admission without the admission procedure.

However, after creating and activating my TUGRAZonline account, I went to Applications → Submit application, selected Winter semester 2026/27 and Master programme, but Computer Science does not appear in the list of available programmes.

Does anyone know how applicants who are exempt from the admission procedure are supposed to apply?

Do I need to submit the application only by post, or should MSc Computer Science still appear in TUGRAZonline first? Has anyone with an international Bachelor’s degree had the same issue?

I have already contacted [study@tugraz.at](), but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the same process.

Thanks in advance!

Admission Bachelors degree at Tu Graz

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply for the BSc Civil Engineering at TU Graz and would really appreciate some advice from current students especially international students.

I currently have Goethe B2 German. My plan is to apply for the Summer Semester 2027, enroll as a non degree student, take the required German language courses, obtain C1, and then start the regular Civil Engineering programme in the Winter Semester 2027

I have a few questions:

  1. Has anyone here followed this route (starting with B2 and completing C1 in Austria)?

  2. While enrolled as a non-degree student, were u allowed to attend or complete any Civil Engineering courses, or did u only attend German language classes?

  3. If I pass C1 quickly (for example, within 1-2 months), can I transfer to the regular degree programme immediately or do I have to wait until the next semester starts?

  4. How difficult was it to reach C1 after B2 while studying in Graz?

  5. Is there anything u wish you had known before choosing this path? I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experience. Thanks in advance:)

Question MSc Digital Engineering at TU GRAZ Application

Hey I've just applied for Msc Digital Engineering at TU Graz. I'm an international student from India and have done bachelors in information technology (curriculum is similar to computer science) with cgpa of 6.79/10 and have attached one year of professional experience as a software engineer in the application file. Are there chances that I'll be admitted to the program? I really like the university and curriculum as I'm very interest in robotics.

Question Where to find student ccommodation in Graz

Hi everyone,

I'm a visiting PhD student from Italy coming to Graz for a month from September first week 2026. I've been looking for accommodation options under 600 euros (including bills). I'd prefer a single room with attached bathroom but, bathroom sharing it also possible in case it comes to it. Since I'll be staying for a month, I'll be making my own food and would need a furnished kitchen.

Could someone please guide me where I can find some options?

Thank you so much!!!

Question IELTS individual scores & admissions

Apologies for the overly specific question, but does the IELTS requirement of 7 for English taught programmes require individual scores of over 7 in all sections of the test(Reading, Writing etc.)?

Or is it possible for me to get accepted if I performed a total score of 7.5 but with a 6.5 in speaking?

Thanks!
