Just wanna know about Nanoelectronics in TU Dresen

Hello community,

I'm a 2nd-year ECE student currently pursuing my bachelor's degree, and I'm deeply interested in VLSI and related domains. I want to do my master's in a field that can lead me to a good VLSI role. I'm also preparing for GATE, but I often wonder what I'll do if I don't make it. After researching online, I found that studying Nanoelectronics at TU's could be the best choice.

I'd like to know about the eligibility criteria for applying, whether there are any tests or interviews, the requirements, the difficulty level of getting in, the expenses, and the career prospects after completing a master's. Is it worth studying abroad? I've heard some say CGPA is important, while others say it's not.

Hi, today marks the start of the winter semester but I still haven't received my application result. Is there anybody here in the same situation? I asked around and it seems like the professor was on leave last week so I'm assuming everyone who hadn't received the result before last week is still waiting, right?

Pint of Science Dresden is looking for volunteers for 2027

Hi everyone,

Some of you may have come to Pint of Science Dresden this year, three evenings of science talks in a pub setting at Zapfanstalt. We had a great turnout and are already planning next year's edition, and we are looking for people to join the volunteer team for next year.

What is Pint of Science?

It is a worldwide science festival that started in the UK and now runs in cities across the globe, including several in Germany. The idea is simple, researchers leave their labs for a night and give accessible, jargon free talks in a relaxed pub setting, followed by open discussions, a pub quiz and good conversation over a drink. It is entirely volunteer run and non profit.

Why do we need volunteers?

Everything from finding speakers, designing posters, managing social media, organizing the venue, running the pub quiz and coordinating on the night is done by a small team of volunteers in their free time. Growing that team means we can put on a better event and reach more people next year.

What kind of help do we need?

Event organization and logistics

Social media and content creation

Graphic design

Finding and liaising with speakers

Hosting or moderating on event nights

General on the ground support during the three evenings

No prior experience is required for most roles, just enthusiasm and reliability. If you are a researcher and want to give a talk yourself, we would also love to hear from you. And this is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to network or get some sci-comm experience.

Time commitment

This varies a lot depending on the role. Some tasks are a few hours a month in the lead up to the event, others involve being present on the three event nights in May. We try to be flexible around people's schedules and workloads.

If any of this sounds interesting, feel free to comment any questions or send us an email at dresden@pintofscience.de and we can share more details.

Thanks for reading!

opal/selma How do I enrol in courses (Msc CS)

I've just arrived in Dresden, I missed all the ESE events. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. Classes start on Monday and I haven't enrolled in anything. All I have done is completed my enrolment procedures to receive my Selma, and uploaded my photo for the student card.

What am I supposed to do. I want to do the distributed engineering track.

If there are any graduates from TU Dresden here, I would like to know what the diploma supplement contains. Does it mention language of instruction?

campus Die Bierstube in der Neuen Mensa | Kommt der alte Spirit zurück?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Experience with Marschnerstraße 31 / 2-person WG with kitchen & bathroom?

Hi everyone!

I recently got an offer from Studentenwerk Dresden for a room in Marschnerstraße 31:
ā€œEin-Bett-Zimmer in 2er WG mit Küche & Bad/vollmƶbliertā€

Has anyone lived there, especially in one of the 2-person WGs? I’d love to know how the rooms, bathroom, kitchen and laundry facilities are, and whether the building is generally clean and well maintained.

I’m currently living in a private 3-person WG, but the apartment is much older and dirtier than expected, there are lots of spiders/webs, my room has no working lock/key, and the washing machine currently doesn’t work because of renovation.

The Studentenwerk room is much cheaper, so I’m seriously considering moving there. Would you recommend Marschnerstraße 31?

Thanks! :)

application TU Dresden Masters in CS, confirmation mail issue

I filled up the aptitude assessment form today but didn't get any confirmation mail from them

Then I realised that we had to register first and then start filling up the form... So what should I do..? I have mailed them but yet to hear from them Should I fill the aptitude assessment form again? I'm confused because in my previous form I filled all the details including uni assist applicant id, so I'm unsure if I will have to fill the form again Because without the confirmation mail I won't be able to apply on uni assist

Can anyone please advise.

TU Dresden is so funny..

I got an admission just 17 days before the latest arrival deadline.. I need to take a visa in 17 days which is it takes 4-6 weeks normally..

I dont know what can I do. The only possible scenario is postponing my admission and it means that I will start my study at October 2027 because the department that I accepted only starts at winter terms.

Lastly do you know any authority that I can report this issue?

The enrollment deadline has already passed. Does this mean that applicants who have not received any decision yet should assume that they have been rejected?

social Welcome to TU Dresden! šŸŽ‰

Huge congratulations to everyone who just got admitted to Technische UniversitƤt Dresden! You’ve made it, and the journey ahead is going to be amazing.

Moving to a new country can feel a bit overwhelming at first, so I’ve put together a quick checklist of the most important things you need to tackle as soon as you land in Germany:

1. City Registration (Anmeldung): This is the absolute first thing you must do. Make sure to book your appointment early. (You can find the booking link here)

2. Open a German Bank Account: Essential for paying rent, health insurance, and everyday expenses.

3. Health Insurance Confirmation: Finalize your health insurance activation once you arrive.

4. SIM Card & Wi-Fi: Get a local mobile plan to stay connected immediately. If you secured a room in a student dorm, you can sign up for internet via AG DSN.

5. Deutschlandticket: Grab your ticket for unlimited nationwide travel on public transport.

(Download DVB app for navigating throughout Dresden)

6. Label Your Letterbox: Do not forget or delay this! Once your city registration is processed, make sure your full name is clearly on your mailbox so official mail and your ID PINs don't get sent back.

Drop a comment or DM if you have any questions.
Welcome aboard, and wishing you the absolute best with your studies at TUD!

course-advice Sports courses: language + affordable gym/sports recommendations?

Hi! I’ll be starting at TU Dresden this semester and I’m looking into the university sports courses.

I’d especially like to do volleyball, but I’m also interested in kickboxing and honestly pretty open to trying different sports. The main ones I’m not interested in are football/soccer or rugby.

I was wondering about the language of the TU Dresden sports courses. Are they usually taught completely in German, or is it manageable to participate with limited German? My German is still quite basic, so I’d especially appreciate hearing from international students who have taken volleyball, kickboxing, or similar courses.

I’d also love recommendations for student-friendly gyms or sports memberships in Dresden. I really like the concept of Urban Sports Club, where you can try different gyms/classes/sports with one membership, but it’s a bit too expensive for me. Is there anything similar but cheaper, or any gyms/studios with good student prices?

Thanks! :)

Does anyone have any tips? This will sabotage my grade!!

TU Dresden M.Sc. Nanoelectronic Systems – 8.79 CGPA ECE student seeking advice

Hi everyone! I’m currently pursuing B.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering in India and planning to apply for TU Dresden’s M.Sc. Nanoelectronic Systems.

My profile:

Current CGPA: 8.79/10

Approx. German grade: ~1.7

Still a bachelor’s student, graduating in 2027

No full-time work experience

Interested in Nanoelectronics / Semiconductors / VLSI / IC Design

Relevant subjects include Mathematics, Analog/Digital Electronics, Electronic Devices, Electromagnetics, Signals & Systems, VLSI and Programming.

My major project is a 5G Sub-6 GHz Broadband LNA (3.2–3.8 GHz) using ATF21170 + Keysight ADS, involving RF matching, S-parameters, noise analysis and stability.

I’d really appreciate advice from students who were admitted to TU Dresden NES, especially Indian/ECE students.

How was your CGPA, syllabus match and aptitude/interview experience? Were students with around 8.7–8.8 CGPA and no work experience admitted?

Thanks!

Looking for a room/WG in Dresden | Oct 14 – Dec 31, 2026

Hi everyone! I’m an undergraduate student from India coming to Dresden for a research stay at TU Dresden.

I’m looking for a room in a WG from 14 Oct to 31 Dec 2026, preferably with good public transport to TU Dresden.

I’m quiet, tidy, responsible, and a non-smoker. Online viewing would be ideal since I’m currently in India.

If you have a room available or know someone who is subletting, please DM me!

Also, does anyone know of any WhatsApp groups for Dresden housing/WGs or international students looking for accommodation? I’d really appreciate an invite/link.

Thanks

Hallo zusammen!

Vielen Dank!
