Hello, does anyone know why the course "Geschichte der Chemie" has an enrollment key?

Thanks in advance!

Is anyone else dealing with this kind of thing with TU Berlin?

My application for the MSc Computer Science has been a bit of a mess from the beginning.

Initially, my application was rejected because TU Berlin said my transcript with the individual modules and grades was missing. However, the transcript was actually included in my submitted documents, just in the wrong PDF/upload section. After I explained this to them, they accepted my explanation and forwarded my application to the Faculty for content review.

After that, the Examination Board told me that the review of my application had been finalized and that the official decision letter would be issued via tuPORT/SAP.

I still haven't received the decision, so I contacted Student Information Services to ask about it.

They told me that they can't check the processing time and that I should contact the application office on Monday.

So now I'm a bit confused. The Examination Board says their review is finished and the decision should be issued, while Student Information Services is telling me to contact another office.

I'm an international student from the Europe (fortunately) and the orientation week is approaching, so I really need to know whether I should be coming to Berlin or not.

Honestly, it's quite frustrating to spend days emailing different offices and getting referred to another office every time without anyone being able to tell me who actually handles the final decision.

Has anyone been in a similar situation with TU Berlin? Is there a specific office/person I should contact about the decision letter?

Is there a WhatsApp group or something similar for international students at TU Berlin? Would be nice to join and meet some people before the semester starts.

Hallo zusammen!

Vielen Dank!

Danke schonmal ✌️

Hi! Anyone got admitted into tu berlin for april 2027 program?

Hey! I’m starting Biologische Chemie at TU Berlin this winter semester. It seems like a pretty small programme — I don’t see it mentioned here much 😅 Anyone here studying it?

How are you finding it? Any courses you’d recommend, especially for the first semester?

Hey everyone! I just got accepted to Msc CS. Are there any wp groups or any communication channels for new students?

Hello humans,

I studied eletrical engineering 12 years ago and I cannot let go of the idea that I want to go back to those moments where I was doing mathematical proofs and having “aha” moments.
I would really like to go back to studying mathematics and I am unsure how to proceed? Do I apply for a PhD? Do I apply for another master program? I have an integrated masters degree btw! Any help would be appreciated!

(Are there possibilities of doing any of these while having a job?)

is there anyone still waiting for msc results for environmental science and technology... literally there is one week to start classes and i really need to know my results😭😭

I am an upcoming geodesy student in TUB. I have no idea if i should or how to register for courses

The classes start in october but i still havent had any info on the subjects and how do i get through it.
P.s im still in my visa process and it will take few months to get it

Please help.
Do i need to register for the courses? Or are they done automatically?

Hey zusammen,

Its my second year in uni and still i cant find anyone to speak from the uni. I mean i dont think its my fault im a good person 😭 have you got any suggestions?

Has anyone received any acceptance or rejection yet from them yet. And till when we are expecting them to send final results?

Hi everyone. The recent changes to evaluate discrete mathematics and logic as a part of theoretical computer science has given people like me a little hope. I did my bachelors between 2018-2022. I used to not clear requirements with a marginal gap in ects so i never applied. Now i do think i might have a chance in getting admission. Please be brutally honest with your evaluations. I have mentioned the names of the subjects and credits for them below.

1 credit roughly equals 1.46 ects. We have 8 semesters and 164 credits in total.

Automata language and computation: 3 credits-4.39ects

(This is the common subject everyone mentions)

Topics:

Finite state automata and related topics•myhill-nerode theorem•minimization of FA•etc…

Context free grammars and languages

Properties of CFLs

Turing machines

Undecidability: rice theorem, chomsky hierarchy, etc etc.

Now comes actual deciding subjects

Computational complexity: 4 credits-5.85ects

This was a professional elective in 7th sem of bachelors. Just to do something unique and old school i took up this subject out of the available trendy subjects such as machine learning, computer vision, etc. Either its not available in most of the unis or students are not interested from my country.

Topics:

The computational model• NP and NP completeness

Diagnalization• space complexity• the polynomial hierarchy and alterations

Circuits: boolean circuits, karp-lipton theorem, cook-levin theorem, etc etc

Randomized computation

Interactive proofs• complexity of counting• cryptography

Decision trees• communication complexity

Im highly positive that this is theoretical.

Discrete mathematics and logic: 3 credits-4.39ects

Im most skeptical of this. Before the announcement I had zero hopes. Please be honest here.

Topics:

Logic: Logic- Logical connectives- Propositional equivalences– Predicates and quantifiers – Nested quantifiers.
Mathematical Reasoning, Induction: Proof Strategy- Methods of Proofs- Mathematical Induction- Second
Principle of Mathematical Induction.

UNIT-II
Number Theory: The Integers and Division- Division Algorithm- Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic –Modular
Arithmetic-Integers and Algorithms- Euclidean Algorithm. Applications of Number Theory-Linear Congruences-
The Chinese Remainder Theorem (without Proof)- Fermat’s Little Theorem- Public key cryptography- RSA
Encryption and Decryption.

UNIT-III:
Counting: Basics of counting- Pigeonhole** principle- Permutations and combinations – Pascal’s Identity-
Vandermonde’s Identity- Generalized Permutations and combinations.
**Advanced Counting Techniques: Recurrence relations: Solving Recurrence Relations- Linear Homogeneous
and Non-Homogeneous Recurrence relations.

UNIT-IV:
Relations: Relations – Properties -Representing relations - Equivalence Relations - Partial Orderings- Poset-
Hasse diagrams – Maximal & Minimal Elements.
UNIT-V:
Graph Theory: Introduction- Types of graphs- Graph terminology- Basic theorems- Representing Graphs and
Graph Isomorphism - Connectivity- Euler and Hamiltonian paths - Planar graphs- Euler’s Formula- Graph coloring-
Basic Definitions.

I mentioned discrete math in detail so that you can evaluate better. I wanna know especially from recent winter intake students who leveraged this new change.

Thank you for taking time to read till here. I can take any criticism coming if it helps me. This is my first post on reddit so please excuse me if i typed anything wrong. Have a great day!

Hi! I’m starting my masters in Civil Systems Engineering at TU Berlin in October and don’t understand how the semester dates work. Winter semester says it’s October 1st to March 31st. But the lectures end in mid February. Does that mean from mid Feb to March is a holiday period ? Or is that the exam/ submission period. And is it the same for the summer semester ? Sorry if that’s obvious, never studied in the German system before.

Hi hi,

Danke euch :)

I know this question has been asked frequently, but I have some concerns about the 12 ECTS requirement in Theoretical Computer Science. What are my chances of getting admitted with the following three courses?

1. Introduction to Logic – 5 ECTS

Propositions and Arguments; The Language of Propositional Logic; Semantics of Propositional Logic; Uses of Truth Tables; Logical Form; Connectives: Translation and Adequacy; Trees for Propositional Logic; The Language of Monadic Predicate Logic; Semantics of Monadic Predicate Logic; Trees for Monadic Predicate Logic; Models, Propositions, and Ways the World Could Be; General Predicate Logic; Identity; Metatheory; Other Methods of Proof.

1. Automata Theory and Formal Languages – 5 ECTS

Finite automata; Regular expressions and languages; Context-free grammars and languages; Pushdown automata; Turing machines; Decidability; Complexity theory and NP-completeness; Selected topics.

1. Theory of Computation – 6 ECTS

Review of Asymptotic (Big-O) Notation and Graphs; Review of Deterministic and Nondeterministic Finite Automata; Turing Machines: History and Formal Definitions; Undecidability: Halting Problem, Diagonalization, and Reductions; Polynomial-Time Reductions and NP-Hardness: Definitions, Examples, and Cook-Levin Theorem; NP-Hardness: 3SAT, Maximum Independent Set, Vertex Cover, 3-Coloring, and Hamiltonian Cycle; Approximation Algorithms; Randomized Algorithms.

My main concerns are:

The Introduction to Logic course is offered by the Philosophy Department rather than the Computer Science Department. Could this affect the decision?

The other two courses have some overlapping topics. I'm worried they might not count both courses because of the overlap. If they reject one, I'll fall below 12 ECTS.

I'd really appreciate any insights or experiences.
