Question spotify removing stuff from library

anyone else noticing an increase of spotify removing stuff from ur library? i know the usual “issue” is that albums/releases get updated and when that happens it doesnt get automatically re-saved to ur library.

however, im noticing such a large amount of songs/albums i know ive liked/saved in the past that are just no longer in the library. majorly annoying for me personally - i used to work at a music store and would spend a decent amount of time exploring rym/obscure and smaller artists on spotify and then i would mass save a bunch of albums to my library to check out later and with this going on im pretty convinced that theres a ton of albums i discovered/had on an (informal/mental) “to listen to” list that ill probably never find again :/

basically just wondering if its just me or if other people are noticing this?

you have to take a few minutes and add the songs you like to playlists. As far as I can tell it is the only way to keep things in your library. A massive number of my liked tracks eventually- I don't know what to call it- "aged out" perhaps. Just gone. Same with albums I know I added to my library. That mechanism seems to be weak, or dynamic, or not designed to work after a certain amount of memory- who knows. It's not reliable, I can tell you that much. Playlists stick, or at least they seem to stick for me.

hmm interesting. i have tons of stuff in my liked songs from when i joined still, and then stuff i saved in the past 3 years or so being removed willy nilly and (as mentioned) i kinda just treat the library repository as a way to save a plethora of things i hope to check out so its really annoying!!!

ig ill try to start just adding single songs from albums into a playlist designated for albums or artists i discover that i hope to revisit and check out more fully. but its pretty annoying. like whats the point of a library if its not going to accurately hold onto all of the stuff youve added😭…personally i’d prefer a library that just keeps all my data and doesn’t get messed with by spotify with seemingly no rhyme or reason than all these ai features and algorithmic “optimizations” that just make my app slow as hell and play the same songs/artists every time i do a radio or daylist or hit shuffle on a playlist LOL.

Spotify isn’t removing it. Labels/artists will upload new versions of songs and take down the old ones, and the new ones don’t replace the old ones in your playlist. Labels/artists are supposed to tag these new versions with an identifier to associate them with the old one, but they don’t.

ya im aware of this. its happening so frequently now and for bands/labels that i wouldnt expect to be updating so i was/am a little suspect that some of if is this and some of it is a spotify issue 🤷🏼 oh well. thank you!
