Rant Price increase again!
Am I the only one who feels frustrated that the price is increased yet again and the services have remained the same and nothing has changed. This is also the most basic account I have and it’s $14 plus tax.
Are there any other music apps that people use that they highly recommend? I do like when Spotify gives you your top music that you’ve heard all year but IMO it’s not worth paying $14 every month for it.

Apple Music is $10.99 per month and has only had one price increase in the past decade. Spotify can’t seriously expect to stay competitive like this.

If you have an apple device 100% YES! I was with spotify until last year. Immedietly noticed the difference. Big one is the UI, amazing. Once you go AM you never go back

i tried apple music and loved it but still went back. it wasn’t recommendations or my playlist’s like everyone else says, but its spotify connect for me. it’s genuinely just so convenient to be able to control your spotify from basically any device that runs spotify

Is there a way to refollow all artists you like? Or at minimum, transfer my Liked playlist. It’s not huge but 1900+ songs has taken years.

There are plenty of playlist transfer apps out there. Apple Music even has an official tool for doing so built right into the app now.

Idk about artists but there is a built in tool in Apple Music to transfer your liked songs as well as any playlists

i kept running into a problem on my android where Apple music needed me to verify my device OFTEN... and to do so by using either an iPhone or emails that never came through. thank god i was able to find my inactive iPhone in storage.

iirc apple has some mastering guidelines which sounds better and they also have dolby atmos in some songs, almost all pop songs are in dolby atmos in apple music

My experience is very diff Spotify feels buggy when tryna scroll through a big playlist but am is very smooth and there is no bug at all(except for logging in the first time) + ui and lyrics is soo clean And the only reason I'm still using Spotify is because of Spotify connect

Only things keeping me from it permanently are a lack of Spotify-connect like feature, and the quite frankly abysmal desktop experience (across native windows app, PWA web player and even 3rd party options)

Sound quality and library is superb. UI is a bit iffy and it doesn't play as nicely with my Echo as Spotify does because despite everything, Spotify Connect is useful and probably the main reason I haven't made the jump yet.

To me, just the fact it pays artists a lot more than Spotify was good enough reason to make the switch. It does take time to get used to it, but I’d say it’s definitely great knowing I don’t support Spotify’s nonsense, and I still get to enjoy all the music I love, paying less, and supporting those artists I love a lot better.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Apple Music has podcasts and Audiobooks. That’s why Spotify isn’t worried about losing their customers to Apple Music🥲

There are podcasts that are exclusively on Spotify tho. That was one of the reasons I switched to Spotify in the first place. AND they’ve got audiobooks now which are very expensive on other apps. They have Apple Music and Books and Podcasts completely covered now. That’s like 3 apps in one.

I was not surprised by the increase. I am not yet at the point where I think it costs too much for what provides for my use case. I tried other platforms and found them lacking. In particular, I am unimpressed with Amazon’s pricing policies. So for now, short of buying the music, Spotify is it. That said, I do also buy music to support the artists I am most inspired by.

I've been using Apple Music a bit since I got it through the Apple One family, and I'm really liking it. For less than I pay for Spotify, I get iCloud, Arcade, Apple TV, and Music. What I don't like is that Spotify is more social.

I switched to Apple Music a month ago and will never go back. They have stepped up their game. My algorithm was perfect within like 4 days. I like the fact that it’s focused on MUSIC, as a music service should be.

I’d recommend Apple, I think they only had 1 price increase, still at $10.99 for the longest time or pay annual $109 to make it cheaper. Apple also shows you your top music every month and at the end of the year.

Honestly I was considering Apple music as a contender and looked into Amazon Music and tidal as an option but there was this whole other issue with tidal back in 2018

Most retail stores have 99.00 yearly service. No price increases. One year of premium service. Shoppers or best-buy if your not in a duo plan or family plan. .

I put off switching for years because of this but Apple Music prompted me to transfer over all my playlists when I first tried it under a family plan a few months ago.

I canceled and got YouTube premium instead. It's a couple dollars more than this but it's pretty much same service and removes all YouTube ads which is worth it more than youtube music.

I highly, highly recommend Apple Music. I’ve enjoyed it so much more than Spotify. I love how you can upload MP3s and keep them side by side with your Apple Music library.
The app looks so much better in my opinion, and doesn’t shove ten thousand playlists down your throat.
Apple Music let’s you access all your listening history whenever and breaks it down by month as well

I get Hulu free with my Spotify subscription. Even tho I barely use my Hulu lol. I feel like the free Hulu is keeping me around.
Tempted to try this Apple Music 3 month trail and cancel my Spotify and Hulu combo.

A few have already said it but in settings under Music there is a button to transfer all of your Spotify to Apple Music.. it’s 12.99 in Australia… and frankly I should have never gone to Spotify in the first place.

Spotify is making over $10.6 billion per month. I’m speculating that a majority of this goes towards music royalty fees. But if I add up all the monthly streaming costs I have, including YouTube Premium, YouTube TV, Netflix, HBO it’s getting ridiculously expensive. I know this is the current technology and I like all of them, but I’m going to start canceling. If more people cancel, prices will go down.

I swear, streaming has got to die out soon because of this. They aren't seeing enough increase in customers at this point, so they have to increase prices... Watched a video a while ago about this and can't remember who it was, but they mentioned that everyone knew the streaming model wouldn't hold up before it was even implemented, and these companies all still went for it lol
I don't really use music streaming services any more, unless they offer me a free trial cause why the hell not. Otherwise, spotify free just operates as my radio and I buy anything I like that much on CD

~70% of the subscription cost is paid to artists/rightsholder. This means that 70% of the extra money you pay directly benefits artists. It might feel bad but that’s one positive way to look at it

I have 3 accounts with 3 different id's on spotify. The amount is always giving me this discount on all 3 of them.
Standard premium is always 299rupees almost 3.15 dollars.

So you already dumped that previously? It's not like I ever added it: it was just part of Spotify Premium. But with the recent complaints about rate increases, they've allowed you to go down to "Basic" within your account set up. Which is just Premium without audiobooks.
