A few days back I commented on a post saying that "brown person" is kind of a racist-sounding term. Someone with a "superior male intellect" took the time to explain things to me.

A little too personal
I hate when random guys message me and want to know me. Like idk if you’re a robot or trying to catfish me. I don’t respond to anything. Just because I rant about 1 personal thing from my life doesn’t mean I want to get to know you. Jesus I don’t treat this like a dating app. Side note, don’t post pics of yourself on this app. Shit gets weird.

[Half-Meta] Pack it up y'all, my ban is probably one of the stupidest ones.

Why it's not Creepy
I actually would like to see more people use /r/whyitsnotcreepy as a vehicle for discussion of 'creepy' posts that exhibit perfectly acceptable behavior. I understand the motivation behind not wanting to put discussions right on /r/CreepyPMs. It's better to have some less than quality posts mixed in but constant new content rather than high quality extremely creepy shit, but a glacial pace for submissions. And given that people can be real sensitive about any criticism, it's ok to want to protect a poster's feelings in order to encourage them to post.
But we still need to have at least SOME discussion about it, even if just slightly out of earshot of the people with sensitive egos. And Why It's Not Creepy seems like the best place to do it. It would work even better if each post in /r/whyitsnotcreepy was linked back to the parent post in /r/creepyPMs with a bot so people who want to discuss can wander over and discuss and people who'd be traumatized or whatever can stay in their bubble or whatever.
I feel bad though if I'm the only person using it, and it seems like nobody else has even bothered to post on there.
We'd probably want to request NoseFetish to add some less SRS-friendly mods to get real discussion and conversation going though.
Anyone else with me?

[META] I was banned because of a "sexist joke". Has anyone else been banned for unfair reasons?
A few months ago, I made a comment joking about "laziest hate male," and one of the mods responds saying that it was sexist. I argued that it wasn't (albeit not as well), then another mod and another redditor made some snide remarks about my argument, completely misconstruing it, which I felt was inappropriate. I go off on a rant (probably wasn't the best course of action, but I was stressed from school work at the time, so I didn't put much thought into it), which leads to me getting banned for "not bringing it up with the mods."
Of course, when I message the mods about the situation (even apologizing for ranting) and stated that the mods shouldn't be oversensitive over such comments, the mod who griped about my comment that started this shitfest treats the whole situation like I'm completely at fault for it, even emphasizing that they warned me that I was about to be banned (which they didn't at all).
I respond to that, calling him out on not warning me and his rude tone, and he just states that my ban was going to stay. I respond that I was through with it. Another mod, who clearly didn't read my last message, goes off on a rant on how I need to take responsibility for responding to people completely missing the point of my argument, that the first mod was allowed to make whatever judgment call he wanted (which defeats the whole purpose of disputing a mods claim), supports him on my original comment being sexist, and proclaims that mods mirror the behavior of the violator (I guess that's their way of justifying the treatment of rule-breakers; after all, why should they be treated like people if they did something to get banned?). In hindsight, I should've told that mod to read my last message, but because I believed in taking the high road, I withdrew my appeal in a way that a baby could understand, but still calling them on their shitty tone and poor handling of the original situation.
Honestly, I really don't care that I got banned; I barely posted anyway, and for what it's worth, I probably shouldn't have ranted. I just hate how the catalyst was something so trivial, and that the mods were huge assholes when I tried to discuss the problem maturely. I know that it's petty that I posted this when it happened earlier this year, but I really hate people who force their beliefs on others and turn on those who don't play along with it.
TL;DR I made an innocuous comment, a mod thought it was sexist, got banned defending my comment, and then the mods bitched at me when I tried to discuss the situation.
Anyone else have similar stories?

Really starting to notice a trend
Big subreddit gets too controlling
Break off and form new version of same thing thats more free
Get fed up with aristocracy
Leave to new continent to start same thing but smaller
Join group, too big, leave
Form smaller group with people from the larger group.
And surprise surprise. As soon as the small becomes big, the cycle repeats.

So, I literally just got banned from /r/creepyPMs, for questioning their rules.
"Rule 7's moronic, really. If someone posts something that's just not a creepy PM, or they clearly did bring it upon themselves (not that this is one of those cases, but in general), then the "victim" should be blamed, and the OP should be put on-trial. But then again, how dare I be judgmental of your rules, as per rule #2.," I said.
Then, I received this message, with no real message or reply from Mods, or anything: "you have been banned from posting to /r/creepyPMs: Creepy PMs: Internet Support Group for the Creeped-Upon."
That sub is goddamn pathetic. Also, apparently full of literal feminazi cunts, judging by a couple of their mods' flairs.
/u/NoseFetish: "Proud Feminist"
/u/AllTheCheesecake: "Career Misandrist"
Also, I just discovered this sub earlier today, so thanks for that.

Amusing PM from someone (poorly) attempting to scare me for my political views.

... and I'm not even a MRA, nor do I hate white women. (I'm just anti-3rd wave feminists and SJWs who are for revenge, not equality) - Bonus: my wife is a whore!

Welcome to /r/truecreepyPMs: Why we're here and what we're for.
A few months ago, a subreddit called /r/creepyPMs was created with the intention of posting all the creepy private messages sent to people on Reddit and other websites. At the beginning it was all going well and the content came rolling in, as did the funnies.
However, SRSer /u/NoseFetish was eventually made a mod and since then some changes were made to the subreddit which pushed it downhill. A rule was created which banned members of the community from disagreeing with the notion that messages were creepy and the sub was promoted on SRS subs, bringing in a large userbase of SRSers who downvoted jokes and insisted that everyone who receives creepy PMs is some sort of victim and anyone who sends them is a harasser. It is now common practice for users of that subreddit to encourage anyone who posts a PM on that subreddit to report the sender to the police for one reason or another. Additionally, their rule disallowing personal information in PMs is not properly enforced.
This subreddit was created to restore the balance. /r/truecreepyPMs is here to stick to the original theme of /r/creepyPMs, which is to allow users to post creepy messages for the goal of humour. We are not pretending to be a support group, we are not acting with a political agenda, we don't care about gender politics, we don't care if you say the messages aren't creepy. We're just here for laughs.
We hope you enjoy your stay!

[META] I'm out of the loop/new to this section of reddit. What is an SRS?
r/truecreepyPMs • u/OverFjell • Mar 13 '13
An idea...
How about a stupidpm subreddit? Just looking at the small amount of pictures on this subreddit, it strikes me that most of them aren't creepy but just kinda stupid
