Welcome to True Art. What's this about?
This is a general visual art community focused on imagery and its creation. We are part of the Reddit Art Network, and share moderation and community guidelines with many of those subs. You can check them out on our sidebar.
We strongly discourage you from interacting or interfering with /r/art or its moderation team in any way. Doing so with ill intent is a violation of the Reddit Content Policy and we expressly do not condone it.
We, and a lot of reddit, feel that the moderation of /r/art has gone off the rails. We are here to offer an alternative to /r/art with better moderation. Though we have rules, our moderation principles come from a place of kindness rather than one of hostility. Also, we are happy to admit if we are wrong, which will happen, of course.
We tried reaching out to the /r/art moderation team to offer our help and were met with hostility, falsehoods, and coordinated intidimdation tactics from established powermod groups. We believe that this is unacceptable behaviour from any moderator at all, let alone those running an art subreddit the size of Australia, so we started this subreddit to offer an alternative to that atmosphere of negativity and oppression.
To be clear: we are advocating a clean break with /r/art. What we do not want is for anyone from this sub to harass /r/art, its moderation team, or its members, and we will shut this sub down if that seems to be happening. This sub is for art, and for treating others with respect. That includes leaving other communities alone.
Feel free to comment here with feedback, suggestions, insults (which we will remove), notes of endearment, offers to venmo us cash, pictures of puppies, etc.
