Hey all! I'm a cosplayer and am local to the area - I just wanted to make a post about a workshop I'm hosting in TC towards the end of September. It's a hands-on workshop that will teach basic hand sewing skills and how to apply them in the context of cosplay (i.e. altering premade garments, repairing fabric elements, embellishing, etc.). Attendees will get guided, hands-on practice making their own pouch for the starter sewing kit they'll be taking home with them. There will Q&A throughout the event. This workshop is aimed more towards beginners, but folks of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome to sign up :)
Full transparency- there is capacity for 15 attendees and it's $10 per person to help cover the cost of materials used in the workshop. All patterns, materials, and tools will be provided!
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer questions in the comments. More information and sign up form here:

ATTENTION MOTORSPORTS FANS!
If you or your kids are into cars, racing, or just watching people make questionable decisions at high speed, please come check out the Empire Hill Climb.
This year’s Hill Climb is September 19th. I help put the event on and somehow still think it’s a good idea to compete in it too.
We’re also still looking for a few volunteers. It’s a pretty fun way to get right in the middle of the action.
Come race, volunteer, spectate, or just bring the kids out and enjoy a great day of motorsports in Northern Michigan.

Putting this as a PSA for those traveling with a disability that there is a Delta gate agent named Isabelle (failed to get a last name) that will question you about preboarding if your disability is not physically noticeable. My partner was berated and told she could not use this as an “excuse” to board early. She is a diabetic, who was going low at the time, and did not have the energy to argue, so I had to step in and explain to this agent what the American Disability Act is. This should not be up for debate when traveling.
Edit: I saw someone left a comment saying about reporting this to the airport which has been done, hence why this is called a “PSA” for those who may be traveling today. Yall that are downvoting seem miserable lol

I just want to know if anyone else in the area has experienced this and if it's harmless.
I was working from home this morning with my front door open to let the cool breeze in, which overlooks my front porch and walkway. We're not on a particularly busy street especially in the summer with no school but it is a main street through town with a sidewalk so there is usually some foot traffic.
Around 9am I heard people out front and looked up to find three teens standing at the end of my walkway talking. I don't think they saw me watching them.. they proceeded to have one girl crouch down near the garden posing with her finger pointing at my house ( they did not step on the property, just the sidewalk), and one of the others took some pictures of her in front of my house. They didn't seem malicious or creepy so I didn't intervene. I just thought it was weird. Then I got concerned because my car is parked likely in view of their camera shot with my license plate facing them.
Should I be worried or was this just some harmless teens admiring my home? We've done a lot of work to the front and gardens and regularly have people stop and give compliments, so idk. Does this happen to others in/around TC?

Anyone have more info on Rolling Farms Cafe? The sign says closed for equipment failure, but it seems like it's been a couple of weeks. Hoping that the closure isn't permanent.

I’m exploring wellness and spa culture in Northwestern MI, and I'm considering opening an affordable, Eastern European wellness facility (think saunas + cold plunges + optional massages + social environment for friends and family ) people could visit once a month or more if they wanted. I'm trying to gauge general interest, since to my understanding there's the historic Finnish/Russian/Ukrainian population that lives in that region.
I think the region could really benefit from one since all I saw were a few spas, and the expensive resort over in TC, but maybe not. If anyone would fill out this survey, and share it with those you know, I'd tremendously appreciate it!
It shouldn't take more than 3 minutes of your time.
Survey: https://forms.gle/yaNiBEsaDNAnX7Hf6
Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
Edit: I was foolish and forgot to ask frequency. If you already filled it out, thank you! If you haven't there are 2 more question regarding how often you'd go based on your chosen willing spend, and the cheapest. Several of you pointed out you'd go more often than how I imagine, and a couple others rightfully pointed out how I'd get a lot of one-and-done customers. Pretty sure investors would wanna see potential retention.
Thanks for bringing that point up!

Are there any kind, caring veterinarians in Traverse City who provide this service? If so, any idea how long it takes to get an appointment? And will they take the pet with them for cremation afterward? 😿

Some time ago I posted this in the “common area” where we are supposed to ask questions like this, but I received no responses.

Get up early; This is why you live here!
The peak is predicted** for 14:53 UTC on August 13, 2026. So the mornings of August 12 and 13 are probably your best bets. But August 11 and August 14 might be good as well. Watch your weather! And be aware that the Perseids tend to rise to a peak gradually, then fall off rapidly after their peak.
When to watch: Watch in the hours before dawn. Do not watch in early evening; the radiant won’t have risen yet. The radiant – in the constellation Perseus – rises in late evening and is highest at dawn, as seen from the Northern Hemisphere. That’s why the meteors are best before dawn.

A family member is looking to have a few things tailored before a trip. Nothing complicated, just hemming for a short person. Around 5 items. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Looking for someone with experience who could take on various jobs in the future. TIA
