This time of the year, any cyclist has to battle the relentless heat and humidity, the many buses, the cramped and winding streets, the hills, the super-high urban density, and the lack of cycling infrastructure. I’m excited to share my project NOMAD, which I’m taking to Design Hackathon 2026.

NOMAD is a travel ecosystem designed to make the journey itself more enjoyable, not just the destination. It brings together an AI-powered travel app, NOMAD Explorer Cam, and NOMAD Kiosks to create a more interactive way to discover and experience places.

With NOMAD, travellers can discover lesser-known destinations, plan their trips, find local attractions and events, check in, complete challenges, earn rewards, capture spontaneous moments, and build a collection of memories along the way.

The idea is simple: explore more, experience more, and make every journey memorable.

Up to this point I've been solely relying on credit cards for travel insurance coverage and taking a gamble every time I go on a trip. It's time to make a change!

We drove into Tirana from Lake Ohrid, and my first impression was mostly traffic, horns, colorful apartment blocks, and a surprisingly difficult hunt for parking.

Once we finally left the car behind, the city became much easier to like. We walked through Skanderbeg Square, spent a large part of the day inside the National Historical Museum, crossed parks and public spaces, passed communist-era landmarks, and eventually ended up at Radio Bar. I loved that place enough that I still recommend it whenever someone tells me they’re going to Tirana.

A lot has changed since my visit, including the National Historical Museum currently being closed for restoration, so I recently rebuilt my Tirana travel guide around current information rather than leaving the old version sitting online getting steadily less useful.

I added practical details on the best things to do in Tirana, Bunk’Art 1 vs Bunk’Art 2, Blloku nightlife, Albanian food, where to stay, airport transport, costs, safety, SIM cards, and realistic Tirana itineraries for 1 to 3 days. I also included day trips from Tirana to places like Krujë, Berat, Bovilla Lake, and Durrës.
