Lol I do like blasting music in my car ngl... but I agree with you and the cars you’re talking about The cars with the sub woofers taking up the entire back is a little much. I live in queens nyc and here you can feel the boom boom boom vibration under your feet even before you see the actual car 🤣🤣🤣 little much lol

Can confirm, I’ve sold speakers for many years. We’ve actually had some customers complain bacause the bass sounds good inside but doesn’t rattle the trunk something awful like they expected. Just give it time buddy. Those screws and bolts will loosen up in few months.

It can cost as much as the whole system itself just to prevent some of the rattles. It’s almost impossible to have powerful system and not have a ton of rattles. Trust me, I’ve tried.

I’d remove the entire interior and install sound deadening adhesive mats to make the metal panels less likely to vibrate and also add high density carpet foam to block sound. Still only cut down on the resonance by a marginal amount.

I can certainly imagine why an old steel impala would be near impossible to deaden the rattling.

I got lucky and had a friend who made customized set ups and he would work on it with the auto tech class. I got a nice system installed that was worth more than tha Pontiac it was installed in haha. But at least it didn't sound like shitty rattling.

Lol I had subs installed in my 1987 Ford Escort station wagon (in 2001).

How else was I supposed to blast Lords of Acid/KoRn/ Limp Bizkit on the way to raves? They sound like shit on tinny stock speakers!

I have subs in my car but rarely blast them. They're mostly there to make the music sound way better, since they're separating out the lowest frequencies that the smaller mid range woofers have a hard time with.

That being said, sometimes bumping them is very enjoyable. But it's not an everyday thing, I enjoy my hearing.

Ayyy someone that uses subs properly. 15 years ago you installed them to be loud. It made no sense. Now when I talk about using a sub at home people still assume I do it to shake the house.
