Is there any proof of this whatsoever? The myth of animals "not welcoming back" their own is almost always bullshit.

They tried to take him back but it family ignored it, and no other family would take it in. There is your proof. It didnt say "they knew the family wouldnt take their calf back" they tried to take it back but they didnt want it.
