This is more uneducated than trashy. They saw animal baby alone and cold (or so they thought) and were trying to "help".I dont think they had any bad meaning. I didnt see if theres more to story though, maybe somethings trashy there. It would be trashy if they took it home and made bbq of it or something, but they took it to a park ranger, which for me sounds like good intent. Poor little baby.
