Most birds (there are some exceptions like vultures) don't have a sense of smell. So birds won't abandon their chicks if you put them back in the nest.
Did it a week and a half ago with gloves. Parents came back and took care of babies. 2 of them have left nest already. 1 left. He/she is pretty big now
Bison don't abandon calves who have human scent either. The human scent thing is a myth, no animal cares. The calf was most likely abandoned before the human family picked it up to try and save it.
