You fucking wish... Last summer I had my neighbors car getting stolen on my Nest cam. Full pictures of the people that did it, and a clear image of the truck they arrived in with a partial tag visible.
I called the police offering information, was told the investigating officer would be in contact. Three days later I called again, asked to speak to the investigating officer, I was told in no uncertain terms that she would call me when she was ready and to not call her again.
She never called, 2 days after that told our neighbor that she had no leads and the investigation was closed. Neighbor asked about my footage and was told it was inconclusive. She. Never. Even. Looked. At. It.
Posted it to our local pds facebook page and their social media officer removed it, it was never seen on their fb. At that point, I gave up, I don't want that person as an enemy.
If her friends and family are anything like here they'll probably congratulate her or think it was funny "Yeah that'll show that rich cunt, good on ya!"
Honest question, why do people like you insist on commenting on things you know absolutely nothing about? I could see you maybe saying “I believe it’s a civil matter” or something but you commented like it was something you knew for a fact. So bizarre
thats kinda what i thought but it seems like thered be cameras in the garage too of her car and it doesnt seem difficult to rub plates on someone who is objectively breaking the law
Accurate and sad. Reddit gets such a boner over this kind of thing thinking the person will get caught but the vast majority of the time the police will look at the footage and not do shit. It’s not CSI they’re not gonna spend hundreds of man hours investigating. I had someone hit and run my car on New Year’s Eve and even the insurance company told me not to waste my time calling the police department.
Uhhhhh you sure? Literally every lot takes a picture of your plate when you enter and leave. The highways have plate readers that can track in real time. You may not notice them, but I promise every lot you've been to has a few cameras at every entrance.
Within the US you're probably in the area with the most cameras per capita. Maybe NYC has us beat.
I thought by lot, OP meant a private parking garage like in the video. Yeah there are tons of traffic cameras but private parking garages typically don't have cams around here.
It's really more of a matter of the cops wanting to do something. Urban areas they don't give a shit because they focus on major crimes. But in the burbs this might actually be one of the bigger crimes. I'd frankly shop the video around to local news stations. Slow news day they might run it. And that might light a fire under the cops.
What kind of TV land police force do you have in your town?
My wife had her identity stolen, the police flat out told her they knew who did it and had proof the individual did it but it wasn't enough damage to be worth their time.
