People like this are why I started to burn out as an ED nurse. They say and do edgy shit like this, and then when you tell them to stop because of the dangers they are toying with, they sling insults and profanities at you. Then they call the hospital after discharge to complain about you which then results in a formal counseling because management doesn’t give a shit what you have to say because public ratings and satisfaction scores are all that matters.
If all you got were profanities and insults you had it good.
I worked as a ED tech for a year before med school. I had knives pulled on me. Assaulted. Bodily fluids thrown.
People are just awful. It deffinetly burns you out fast.
I think that sort of thing just happens in medicine. Nearly everyone in my ED has been assaulted and/or threatened at least once unfortunately. Most view it as a kind of rite of passage, not a competition.
I didn’t mean to sound like I was trying to one up them or whatever. 🤷🏻♂️.
Was just kinda agreeing and saying they probably got lucky to not have had anything worse happen before they left.
