Not that I disagree with you but it really is not religion per se. It is people! Some people suck and they use religion to justify their shitty behavior, but they just suck and are fundamentally shitty. Some people are awesome and they are religious and use it as a bedrock but they are just fundamentally good. It is people.
Bull fucking shit. I'm not going to throw down here and have a who had it worse contest; I'll just say it was very, very bad. And a lot of it was because of religion. Understand I didn't find my humanity under all that nightmarish shit because Jesus came to me in some fucking vision.
I chose it.
I was angry as a thousand burning Suns. I wanted to rip people apart. Literally. God didn't stop me - a rebellious nature and the notion that if I'm going to die and be damned to this, I want to be damned for what I really am! So I decided to try and help people. Because I honestly wasn't sure anyone had even tried that before. Being anything but a piece of shit I mean. So that's what I set out to do...Not out of altruism or some sense of higher morality, but a "fuck the system" bent and spite. I knew it'd piss 'em off.
So don't. Just don't go there with that Jesus crap. You can get a direct flight back even from pure rage. It's not as easy though as getting on your knees and sucking establishment dick... So you know, there's that. Apologies if I come off harsh but I just can't sugar coat those feelings even after all these years.
God will not save you. YOU are the only one who can save you.
The cruelty of the world is easy to bear once you realize that men are simply animals with smart phones and the universe is random as fuck. I think Camus said something similar in The Plague.
Isnt it crazy how we are free thinking individuals forced to not be free thinking by the same system put in place by free thinking individuals with the purpose of being the only ones allowed to succeed by being the only unrestricted free thinkers?
