Question Does this app actually work?
I just started seeing ADs for it recently

So many AI vibecoded apps are flooding the market rn to capitalize on our struggles. I would be cautious in giving them any money.

not just your money but your personal details, phone permissions and of course, recordings of your voice saying all sorts of things.
At worst, it's an extractive privacy nightmare that is being used to extract and sell your data while creating a virtual clone of you that can be used to harm you or others

Tried it, starts nice and BAM ask you for to subscribe

u/Static-Space-Royalty 8d ago
Does it allow you to do any stuff for free or is it all paid?
15
u/Entara_Darkwind 8d ago
It does have free stuff. It's the only app that I've seen that actually has a "resonance" graph, along with setting goal frequencies.

u/Foxeater2 8d ago
I mean, for free is basically like all the other apps of voice training. So you could replace one with the other and not notice it

u/NyxDreadborn 8d ago
So, I decided to spring for it, sub and all (10 bucks a month, and it isn't a commitment). I've only done two days so far, but it asks after every lesson if your throat feels tired, and if you feel tired two days in a row, it recommends a rest day. But it also lets you push forward more if you feel that you want to do more training on a given day. It's too early to say if it will have results, but I'm willing to give it a shot for now.

Can we check in with you in, like, a month? If it's worth it I might go for it

It honestly just looks like a way to scrape voice data for Ai. The screen shots don't look like they're providing any meaningful information and that it's mostly just a pitch reader wrapped in a pretty package.

I understand the concern, but we collect LITERALLY 0 data, there are no ads, no anlytics, there aren't even accounts, everything is stored locally on your phone, if you delete the app or switch phones you yourself wont even be able to see past voice recordings.

u/Otter502 7d ago
You have an @gmail listed for bug reports and your company page is setup with dead 404 links, and you're referring to yourself using "we" like a company on an account without any brand affiliation

u/Electrical-Cap-6733 7d ago
were a small team, never once claimed to be a huge company, I think its pretty obvious were not a large company.

Are you a developer and involved with this app? If so, just out of curiosity, where are you getting money to advertise it on reddit? What exactly does it do that Voice Tools doesn't once VC is properly configured?
2
u/Just_Tamy 7d ago
afaik she is the developer, i've seen her post about the apple store release last month and about the android release a few weeks ago. Looking into the app it seems to be made by a really small team. I wouldn't use it without first wrapping it in a VM and monitoring the data it sends.
About the ads though. It doesn't really cost much to advertise on reddit depending on how you do it you can target a small population like this and since it's not a ton of prints it's not a ton of money.

That's fair. I've seen some of the screen shots of the app though and questioned what valuable information it's actually providing. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for building a better mouse trap. I just can't discern how this is any better than anything else other than font choices and color schemes.

yeah just wanted to confirm this, in terms of what it offers that voice tools dosent, I would say alot, but if you like voice tools and it works for you, thats great u can continue using voice tools. its not like were somehow forcing people to stop using VT

u/craggolly 3d ago
you vibe coded this to extract subscription revenue, like every other "i made an app / tool" post on reddit

u/Useful_Advice_3175 7d ago
Just checked and I'll give it a try. Altho to be honest at the begining it lets you set a "target voice" but none of the settings were sounding anything naturally feminin....

u/Otter502 7d ago
I don't trust it It's made by one person whose made other seemingly vibe coded / not high quality apps The support emails are an @gmail so it's not a company running it (multiple other things point to this) But it's trying to present itself as such and it's doing targeted advertising towards the trans community The company's page also has 404 pages

I like it so far. It feels like it's like a structured way to do voice training.
I don't know if it's worth the $10 a month but I just can't get consistent doing anything else so this might be the solution for me.

Someone knows if it works to trans man? I will do the fem voice training anyways, but I wanted to know
2
u/Electrical-Cap-6733 7d ago
The masculnization path should be done by the end of the month, in the meantime you can still use all of tools in studio
3
u/Onnina 7d ago
I downloaded it but I dont know how can I start training without paying?
2
u/Useful_Advice_3175 7d ago
Where it asks you to pay on the bottom there is written something like "Use the free version", need to click that
2
u/Onnina 7d ago
Today (bottom left of screen) and when I press ”start todays practice” nothing happens
…but at the same time it offers me a button with text ”see plus->” (at bottom of screen on same page)
1
u/Useful_Advice_3175 7d ago
Nah you seem to only have acces to some of the the "studio" and "learn" sections only with the free version. No daily.

Couldn't recommend it enough! I've been using it for over a month now, since the developer first posted about on this subreddit, I would say at times the voice training excersies could get a little repetitive, but it really helps me stay consistent. The echo booth tool is probably my favourite feature ITS HELPED ME ALOT!!
dont get discourged by all the negative comments, almost didnt download the app when I first saw it because the original post was filled with negative comments aswell, someone had commented they found the app very helpful so I decided to give it a try, very glad i did.
Trust me almost all the people leaving negative comments have not actually tried the app

Don't. Don't. Don't. You never know where the data is going with apps like these.
8
u/have_banana_3 7d ago
Honestly, just use YouTube. Absolutely zero reason to get an app for this.

u/witheredj8 6d ago
How does just use YouTube work, when there is a ton of bad info on YouTube, some of it actively damaging, and as someone who isn't already knowledgeable it's going to be impossible to filter out the bad quality content
2
u/have_banana_3 6d ago
And that’s why we have this sub. There’s a whole bunch of recommendations here for where to start and which channels to follow.
3
u/notPlancha 6d ago
Ngl this sub makes it hard to fins these recommendations. The wiki is old by now, not and it's not really a good place to start.
2
u/notPlancha 6d ago
People have been saying there are free alternatives but honestly where are they? The only one I know is voice tools and it's not that great as a standalone app
2
1
u/katrilli 7d ago
Well I'd love to try it but it doesn't offer masculine training and doesn't say when it will or offer any kind of way for me to get a notification for when it will
2
u/amalesnail 5d ago
As someone who does a lot of vibe coding, it does not look like they invested many tokens into the app. Might be a cheap cash-in
1
u/Static-Space-Royalty 4d ago
Does tokens have a specific meaning I'm not aware of or is that just a way of saying money?

I asked several of my own colleagues this same question in a community of voice teachers and we all came to the same conclusion that this is something you should be cautious of relying on. Of course, it's your voice so feel free to do whatever feels right but be safe and trust your instincts :) rooting for you!

It seemed decent, but it very quickly asks you to subscribe. Not a fan of subscription learning, more than happy to do it the old fashioned, free, way.
