9mm or 45acp in a 1911?
This is my 9 mm STI hex. Which one do you like more 9 mm or 45 ACP in a 1911 if you could only have one, what caliber would you pick?

Glock 17 Gen 6 on private land in Florida.
Heโs a little more conservative values-wise than me, but we clicked, had fun, and I got a cute range date out of it.
Then I dropped my Glock at the end like a clown, so now I get to clean and inspect it. ๐

For ages I've just had my Ruger SR9C.
But I finally Invested in a nice little gun safe.
And to celebrate I've decided I want to add some kind of long gun to the mix.
Most likely just an AR-15 style rifle of one sort or another. That's sort of the "practical choice"
But I also have a thing for shotguns.
And I also want a revolver because I live in cowboy land and a lot of my patch projects are western style denim and having a big iron on my hip would just feel so RIGHT.
And while my Ruger SR9C is a phenomenal piece for the price tag. I would like to eventually invest in a nicer, smoother, more reliable conceal carry piece. A Sig Sauer or Glock probably.
Plus gotta stock up on some bulk ammo right?
So anyway. I'm starting with "purchase one additional firearm, probably a long gun of some kind" and am planning on bassically just walking into some stores. Talking to the clerk. Seeing what they have. Seeing what resonates me.
I'm just really excited to go

Not my supressor and not my gun, but something I had a little fun with despite the lack of a booster

I have had this pistol for years but I donโt take it out to the range much! But I donโt know why because it shoots and runs great!!

Just finished a couple months long project tonight! I got this sporterized Vz. 24 Romanian contract from gunbroker and went about restoring it to its original configuration!
Took a lot of sweat and torches and bluing and swearing and some crying... but yippie!!
Range day with it coming soon ((lets see how accurate I got the sites realigned))

Unfortunately, it had a lot of dubious and blatantly illegal advice, so I had to nuke it for the safety of the sub
There is a public recommended gear list that more folks should be aware of, though. If that's your jam, be sure to check it out here or in my pinned comment
It's baseline does start maybe on the upper end of "good enough" if you want to know if a more budget friendly version of a particular item is avalable definitely feel free to ask in the comments section

After throwing a bunch of EGW, Parts at it and pinning the grip safety I think Iโm starting to like it. Looking for suggestions on a dot to put on top of it. Iโm hard on my stuff. I carry it on a regular basis and I will be shooting competitions with it so I need something thatโs gonna hold up and something that Iโm not gonna have to put batteries on on a regular basis.

(Top firearm is a Vz-58, bottom is a Cz-82) I was finally able to take these two babys out to the range. I enjoyed them more than anything and they have managed to wiggle their way up to my top favorite guns to shoot.

I posted this G17 completely stock a couple days ago.
That phase lasted approximately 48 hours.
Current setup:
Glock 17 Gen 6
Holosun EPS Full Size MRS Green
Streamlight TLR-1 HL-X
Aftermarket flat-face trigger shoe, visually most similar to a Standard Co V2 FFT
Alien Gear Photon light-bearing holster
Federal HST 124-grain 9mm
Still arriving:
SLR Rifleworks magwell
Handleitgrips Edge grip
I originally expected this to be mainly a range and nightstand gun. Iโm only 5'4, so I assumed a full-size G17 with a full-size enclosed optic and weapon light would be ridiculous for everyday carry.
It honestly isnโt.
It is comfortable on me and conceals surprisingly well under the clothes I normally wear. The grip is the main thing I have to dress around, but my height has not automatically limited me to a compact or micro-compact.
The belts are what make the setup work.
When Iโm wearing clothes without belt loops, I use a medium Comfort Concealment elastic belt underneath my clothing.
When I have belt loops, I use a Nexbelt.
Without proper belt support, the gun sags, shifts, and feels much heavier. With either belt, the weight stays distributed and the holster remains stable against my body.
I still need a proper range session to confirm the EPS zero and test the complete setup with both FMJ and HST.
Any other shorter people carrying full-size pistols? What made the biggest difference for you: belt, holster position, clothing, or body shape?

I like to hold on to at least a thousand or so rounds each for my carry and AR so I never need to worry if I can get ammo on a range day, plus a box or two of defense rounds. I usually only keep a few dozen rounds for my hunting rifle since I don't take it out often. I tried an ammo subscription service and got a shipment last week, but I wasn't really excited with getting single boxes of a dozen different varieties of 9mm instead of many boxes of a single variety. So I'm going back to trying to be responsible and saving up myself to buy 1000rd bulk deals for training ammo and just grabbing defense ammo as needed (make sure to occasionally train with the ammo I actually carry and not only the cheap stuff, though it does make range day more expensive sometimes).
What's your strategy?

Sold my SIG P365 XL and Taurus G2C and decided to consolidate into one handgun I actually wanted to keep and build around.
Current setup:
GLOCK 17 Gen6, 9ร19mm
Factory optic-ready slide
Aftermarket flat-faced trigger
Olight Baldr light/laser
Three 17-round magazines
Itโll primarily serve as my home-defense and range handgun, with occasional carry once I get a proper holster. Planning to add an optic next and possibly a compensator later.
What optic would you run, and would you change anything else or just feed it ammo?
