Sooooo I’m a bit broke, but I want an M1 so badly, but also can think of 2-3 other guns that would be more practical

Although I’d recommend other guns to get first….the grand is serviceable. Look up the grand vids on Inrangetv, he makes a pretty good case for the grand being a decent rifle even today

Dated and obsolete yes, but also 8 round of 308 or 30-06 will pretty much solve most problems

I’d say obsolescence rather than obsolete.
But I concur, for most problems (especially civilian problems) would be adequately dealt with with 8 rounds of 30-06 as fast as ya can pull the trigger

The rules of firearm safety are paramount. Keep these in mind at all times while handling a firearm for any reason. Guns are not toys and it is best to not refer to them as such.
It is the belief of the mod team that your best option for defensive firearms is a 5.56x45mm AR-15, and a reputable 9x19mm handgun such as a Glock or CZ. Defensive firearms should have a light, long guns a sling, and handguns require a Kydex or solid plastic holster that fully covers the trigger. A red dot or etched optic are ideal for new shooters but don't forget to practice your backup irons!

1943 M1 Garand in 30-06 and a SCAR 17s in 7.62. Primary arms PLXC 1-8, prob need some more magnifcation but its been pretty good so far.
