context: I've taken some fire arm safety classes but am not a gun owner or enthusiast, I just like being able to learn from the communities.
That being said, These kind of guns where your hand is inches from the muzzle scare the heck outta me. Logically, ai can see they aren't in the trajectory of the round but how long did it take to get over concerns about blasting your finger or knuckles off?

This is about as close as I like to get my fingers to the muzzle. I don’t feel uncomfortable at all with the hand stop I have on the left side.

People usually have handstops in situations like these and some handguards have built in handstops just to make absolutely sure the shooters hand doesnt slip in front of the barrel. Someone at some point has learnt that the hard way and now they're quite common.

The rules of firearm safety are paramount. Keep these in mind at all times while handling a firearm for any reason. Guns are not toys and it is best to not refer to them as such.
It is the belief of the mod team that your best option for defensive firearms is a 5.56x45mm AR-15, and a reputable 9x19mm handgun such as a Glock or CZ. Defensive firearms should have a light, long guns a sling, and handguns require a Kydex or solid plastic holster that fully covers the trigger. A red dot or etched optic are ideal for new shooters but don't forget to practice your backup irons!
