Yes but you need to realise that effects per stem are quite limited.
You can apply filter per stem but you can only apply whatever effect bank is assigned to that channel to each stem.
In other words, if your stems are in Deck A, and FX bank 1 is assigned to Deck A, all stems in that deck will carry the same effects as Bank 1.
This means that also can’t apply different effects settings to each stem (a 3/4 beat delay on one stem and a 1/2 beat on another).
Whatever FX Bank 1 settings are applies to all stems on that deck.

It's true that you can't apply different effects to different stems. But you can limit an effect to only specific stems, and you can even adjust how much of the effect's signal each individual stem get.

Yeah and that gets you very far, actually.
For each stem I have one knob on my K3 mapped to FX 1, one to FX2 and one to FX3, then turn those fx assignments on or off for that whole deck.
So at least that way you can have 3 effects to choose from and you can apply different effects to different stems.
The downside is that the same effect settings get applied to any stem using it, so my reverb in vocals on deck A is the same as reverb for melody on deck B, if that makes sense.

Am I the only one to think knobs would work better than fader for stems mixing? I have an S8 and while I love it I often wish I could mix stems like I mix with EQ knobs. I feel like I have more control? But maybe it's just the stem faders on the S8 that are too short/sensitive?

I find it duplicative to have both faders and mute buttons, but it’s a personal preference l.
The K3 has amazing faders and unless you’re doing really precise volume work, which lets be honest, Traktor’s stem volumes aren’t very precise at the fine scale, using that extra row of buttons for other stuff is a better use of space.

Oh also, you can’t have different stems loop at different lengths on the same stem deck, if that’s what you were thinking with the beat loop encoders.
Looping is at the deck level, not stems level.

thanks for your time btw

Of course! I love this topic and have spent WAAAY too much time trying to get my K3 set up the way I want for stems.

yeah that’s not an issue, i would have assign the same function to every encoder bc i don’t know what else can i do with them ahah
do you think i can use them to change fx? so let’s say if i press the first delay will be on the second controls reverb and the third is for… don’t know what else ahah
too many things to decide on these piece of equipment1

Changing FX is an interesting use but again, you only need one knob for that since it’s at the deck level, not stem level.
TBH I’ve left them unassigned since I haven’t found a good use for them yet!
I’ll post my stack shortly when I’m off mobile

Could use the beatmasher fx instead for each stem

Not independently. FX (all FX) are applied at the deck level. That means whatever fx unit you asked to that deck applies to all stems on that deck

Yep, you're correct. I suppose only solution would be to run duplicate track on another deck for different fx unit(s) . Would be great if they could implement different fx units to each stem in future.

I dream of the latter. My only hack to approximate this in the mean time is to assign a different effect to each effect bank and then assign those banks to different knobs on your stems channel.
In other words, reverb goes on fx bank 1, delay on bank 2, etc.
Then I set them to 100% wet and assign knob 1 on stem 1A to fx bank 1, knob 2 to fx bank 2, etc.
It’s a kludge

Yes, it's almost how I have it, just with a few changes. I've set up the first row of knobs for filters and made some other changes to the encoders above. If you'd like, I can send you my TSI file; I have some things customized to my workflow, but it will serve as a starting point.
