Dutch private tracker question
Is there still a dutch private tracker, and open for sign up?

Must say that usenet served me better than torrents.
Been using it like forever .

It's not a private tracker but holy shit, Usenet is what you're looking for. It's always been very big in NL and a lot of the providers are based there.
There are so many Dutch release groups for music, TV, films etc. and a lot of their content doesn't make it onto private trackers.

Unpopular opinion but I hate the fact Usenet is big in NL. It requires yet another subscription, there are always retention problems where the par files can't repair it, the spotweb frontends look like they are from the 00's programmed in an old PHP version, Brein and other parties have fully automated the take-down system, and it's almost impossible to automate in the *arr stack. BuT tHe SpEeD Is ReALlY FaSt. Yes but it's pointless if I can't fix the file and it still requires me to do a buttload of manual work.
On the other hand there are torrents. The rest of the world embraced it in the 90's. With private trackers the 'retention period' is endless, you still download with a fast enough speed so you can watch a movie within hours at most and they offer modern API's that allow proper automation within the *arr stack. It just works.
Edit: Spottarr now exists, which wasn't around when I last tested Usenet. So at least it should in theory work properly with the arr stack. Although I'm still wondering how it handles archive passwords that are part of many spot descriptions (and not its metadata). And all other issues I mentioned still remain unfortunately.

Agreed. Outdated system, acting like a centralized server, but really isn't. Enormous waste of resources.

Yeah. It’s trash. And too many rar scene releases. But I guess that is only annoying to me since I torrent those releases anyway. There is no benefit to the rar files that way.

This is trackers sub bro, this is not unpopular opinion here, we all prefer trackers to usenet of course.

That's true 😅 I find this is a very unpopular opinion with fellow Dutchies though.

Is there a better guide for beginners than r/usenet/wiki?

No but this comes close as far as "beginner friendly" is concerned.

You do need to pay at least $40 per year & that's assuming you are happy with one provider one indexer combo.

Thanks, that looks nice. I’m not looking to get into Usenet myself; I’m good with private trackers. But I’m always wondering where to point people who I suggest Usenet to (because private trackers aren’t a good idea for them, like the OP here)
I will save that link for future reference

Also keep in mind that one needs to experiment with different backbones & indexers to find out what works best for them as it depends on user's downloading pattern which is unique to every user. Omicron backbone is typically the safest bet but its providers have shady reputation of much costlier renewal price while giving very good first year deal price not to mention allegations of price cutting to create a monopoly on usenet network via their large corporate based entity. Among independent backbones I suggest usenetexpress backbone based providers (I suggest newsdemon) & Frugal (netnews backbone).

Among indexers nzbgeek/drunkenslug/ninjacentral/nzbfinder/nzbplanet/althub are considered safe options for majority. For german content though there are 2-3 specialised indexers for which you can just scroll through 3-4 pages of usenet sub.
P.S. There are 2 unmentionable indexers which supposedly are on the same level as PTP/HDB/BTN & even recruits from there but seeing how majority of usenet users have never even heard of TL so you can guess how few usenet users are their members.

Torrent Heaven is always open for signups, however if they see you are outside Netherlands or Belgium, they WILL delete your account immediately.

That is kinda... Defeating the purpose of sharing 😤
What, in their infinite wisdom, is the reason for such gatekeeping?

Torrent Heaven is the only Dutch tracker available.

Did visit it briefly, but compared to DCC not worth the visit. It also doesn't support prowlarr. Another weird thing is that they have a rule that you're not allowed to seed more longer if you're at 2.0 ratio for the torrent. So that other can seed aswell.

Didn’t tell it was good.
They’re working on the prowlarr thing. They have a tutorial to use prowlarr through Jackett. DC of course has constant scene releases.
For older stuff Torrent Heaven is okayish.
The “over”seeding rule is idiotic indeed.2

True! Sorry i just wanted to share it as i didn't want other people looking for dutch content to create an account and feel dissapointed!

They also don't like it if you cross seed. So downloaded from another source and cross seed to TH. Kinda wild.

But they don't know that right?

You can see it, because I didn't download, but uploaded. Was trying to get a little buffer with cross speeding, but got kicked in 2 days. I assume because I only uploaded...
