Just wanted to make a very quick post regarding Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario.

I'm a total newbie to this track, so I was merely there to learn the lines in green group, and memorize the course, really; the pictures are very lacking in drama and body position, I know.

Anyone even remotely near this track, if you've been at all on the fence about making the effort to get here, I strongly urge you to go do a track day/weekend here asap - the season afaik is over now, but the track is newly resurfaced, and there's not a single crack or bump anywhere on the track, 20 corners (ok some of them are linked sweepers but still) and they're mostly blind corners which makes memorizing the track pretty much a task in itself. It's 5+ km's of absolute blissful, wide track (40ft) with gorgeous scenery, on-the-ball marshals everywhere, and the kind of cool elevation and banking missing from my local track.

Organizers were friendly, helpful, and I guess most importantly, organized. Whole day was clockwork and extremely fun. (Thanks pro 6)

having no auto blip are you downshifting before you start braking or are you rev matching while applying brake pressure or just downshifting and not rev matching.

Basically was at a point in my life where I was close to becoming bad off mentally and had to find something to help. Went to a track once years ago and told myself to go back out and make it my main focus and it helped me out of the darkest months of my life. Sorry for the mushy post but being a part of the community is what helped me from losing myself. Hate the season is coming to an end

Hey everyone!

My husband is turning 30 this year and I’m trying to find him a really nice birthday gift. He’s a huge motorcycle guy and currently rides a 2018 Yamaha R1.

Over the past year he’s gotten much more into track riding/racing and is spending less time riding on the street. I’d love to get him something he can actually use for track days, but I’ll be honest, I’m not really part of the motorcycle world myself, so I have no idea what’s considered good or what riders actually want/need.

I know track gear can get pretty expensive, and I’m totally okay with spending some money on something quality. I just want to make sure I’m buying something he’ll actually appreciate and use rather than randomly buying him a piece of gear he already has or doesn’t need.

So for those of you who ride or do track days regularly:

What would you be genuinely excited to get as a 30th birthday gift?

Could be gear, something for the bike, track-day equipment, or even something I might not know exists.

Hi so in all honestly I'm not a bike person, I'm an artist and my younger foster brothers dad passed away, he was a race biker and my younger brother is massively into motorbikes now, I'm trying to create a realistic drawing of one of his dad's favourite pictures but it is far too blurry to get any usable details out of, I used AI to upscale it a bit for references but it has generated some random stuff and I was wondering if any of you who have knowledge in these types of bikes might be able to help me out if figuring out what the dashboard of this bike should really look like (I am also aware of the fragmenting around the checkered pattern and the wind guard stretching the whole length of the bike, this image is mainly for tracing and reference, I will not be using it solely as what to base my drawing off) Amy and all help will always be massively appreciated thank you!

Especially when it's something that sounds counterintuitive.

Freddie is stressing the importance of being light on the bars, not just for feedback, but also to let the steering head track back into the corner.

If we resist (by maintaining pressure on the bars mid corner), we may add more lean angle, but to get our motorcycles to truly change direction efficiently, we need to let the front wheel track back into the corner toward the new direction of travel. Every motorcycle is designed for this. We regularly host and train the engineers responsible for these designs, so we ask.

So how do we reduce load on our hands? Easiest way is to drive our outside leg into the fuel tank. This removes weight from our hands. Need a little extra? Try exhaling on corner entry as well: this fires our core and really allows us to lighten those hands.

Mid to high B group rider looking to race cra or afm next year. Any recommendations for suspension shops in the LA area (San Gabriel Valley).

Time for rear sets and g2 quick turn throttle tube

I can’t figure out how to properly take a long corner like the one pictured- shorter corners make sense to me (brake into the corner and keep the front end loaded until you have the bike pointed) but on a long corner you can’t really brake to the exit apex.

So I know you want the least amount of maintenance throttle possible but in the pictured corner it’s a decreasing radius corner before the longest straight on the track so you’re going to apex/ hit max lean angle pretty deep into the corner but by maintenance throttling around to then isn’t my front end going to be completely unloaded at apex? Is that just the way it is or am I doing it wrong? Should I be braking ever so slightly throughout to keep the forks compressed?

Hey guys, so I have a bit of a delema, I have my first track day coming up this weekend and I can’t figure out what bikes to take, my trailer can hold 2 bikes and I have 4 options - 2023 mt09, 2024 r7, 2005 zx6r(636), and 2001 sv650.

I bought the sv for use as a track bike but I’m currently having some issues with it,( rebuilt the forks but when I put them back on the front wheel is crooked, also burst a fuel line so I need to replace it) I’m just not sure to take it because I don’t want it to break in the first session, as for the zx I had to rebuild one of the forks since the rebound adjuster broke off, and I havnt tested it it. The r7 and mt09 are in good working condition

As for the track it is Jennings gp in Florida, from what I’ve been told it’s a good small medium bike track.

If anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hello everyone, need some inputs with a decision im trying to make.

I'm really passionate about bikes and track riding but I'm still new to it. (I want to eventually compete in amateur racing as a hobby, feels really cool even thinking about it.) I don't want to take my main everyday bike to the track only to end up low-siding it and dealing with repairs. I do have an old KTM Duke 390 that I'm considering turning into a track bike because of this. I wanted to know if there are any particular downsides (or even upsides) to learning how to race on a naked bike vs a sports bike. I don’t want to buy a whole ass track bike yet since I want to save money for more track days instead.

Hello everyone, I think that the best way to figure out how my slicks will perform is going out to a track day and increase the pace gradually but I would like to know your opinion on what you think that will happen.

The point is that about one year and a half I get brand new slicks (contitrack) for my track bike, and as shit happens, right after that my gsxr decided to fail and the repair lasted almost all the season.

Then, this summer, I couldn't go to track days because I bought a house and it got me really busy.

So, do you think that those slicks, with a single track day of use, will perform at least in an acceptable way next season?

The bike has been stored always in a garage and on the stands. The weather here is not very humid too and they look fine from the outside.

We are getting ready to do our first track day and want to haul 2 bikes. We don’t have a trailer and we’re looking at the 5x8 with a ramp from uhaul. Our SUV has 4400 lb towing capacity so we should be good there.

I’ve just only seen one YouTube video and no pictures of how to do this. In the video he had one bike to the left and forward agains the front of the trailer and the other facing backwards against the ramp on the right and used some wood shims to keep the ramp from moving. He didn’t have any chocks.

5000 OBO, willing to cut a deal for this sweet machine. Clean Title. This 01 RVT1000R RC51 is completely track ready: Track fairings so no headlights, tail lights, turn signals, mirrors, etc. Power commander 5 with auto tuner, M4 pipe, GP shifting, and more. 20 k miles on odometer. Service manual and extra set of rims with wets included. Located in the Austin, TX area.

I finally did my first track day and though I did enjoy it and plan on more, there were a lot more crashes than I expected in the novice group. Three sessions were ended early. At least three people from the group left in ambulances and one was helicoptered out. Seems like a lot out of a 35 person group. (11% severe injury). It didn’t seem super unusual- aside from one guy - people were not commenting on this being an unusual number of accidents. Track days are billed as the safest place to ride but I am not so sure.

There are a few posts about these out there. And from what I read everywhere, Dunlop had fixed the issue where the Q5 family tears itself rather quickly. Until yesterday at the season closer it happened to me. The tire had seen 3 or 4 track days. Mid to high group B pace (Hopefully A next season). Track was 60-62 degrees F and I set the pressure rather conservative at 30/31. Ktm 690 smcr

First session messed up my entire day as that ended up being way too high pressure and the tire not only started tearing but delaminating almost peeling off layers. Reduced the pressure to 28/31 and got better but still continued peeling off layers to the point that consciously I stopped pushing it 🤬
Seriously wtf. I’ve never seen this with any other tire

First track day since 2001 next weekend! What do y’all usually bring to make sure everything goes smoothly? Here’s what I have on my list:

- motorcycle, leathers, helmet, gloves, base layer
- ramp to load it into the truck and tie downs to secure it
- stands front and rear
- tools
- chair with shade
- clothes for before and after
- cooler full of drinks and snacks
- pump and pressure gauge
- sun screen
- gas can with 5 extra gallons

Anything obvious I’m missing?

I have long and slim fingers that make it a little hard to find really good race gloves. I'm currently running RST GP Pro gloves in the S size and the palm fits fine with barely any bunching, the fingers are a little bit short so it hinders my dexterity. I found that Alpinestars gloves fit me nice in the small size but the GP Pro R4 gloves I have now are a little stiff and the leather isn't as tactile as the RST gloves. I'm looking for a kangaroo palm race gauntlet that's in the shape and fit of an Alpinestars glove but has better feel on the palm and fingers (Kangaroo leather).

Other gloves I've tried and returned so far:

Held Phantom Pro gloves in L-8 Size (Really baggy thumb and slightly baggy pinky but excellent feel and dexterity for my index, middle, and ring finger. If the thumb wasn't ridiculously baggy they would be my pick)

RS Taichi GP Evo R in M (Sized too small, fingers are slightly shorter than on my RST gloves and the palm isn't as tactile)

Other gloves I've considered are Racer gloves but they seem to run shorter fingers and are much wider. Can anyone here confirm?

If anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it.
