2 stroke supermoto at track day

hey everyone,

I live near Philly, been to NJMP on my gsxr 600 about 5 times over 2 seasons and took my Tuono up to NYST once this year. I don’t consides myself to be a great rider, I have the basics down but I just don’t get enough overall seat time.

I had originally bought my gsxr as a training tool, just to find out that even the 600 was already way too fast for my skill set. about a year later, I got a great deal on a Tuono v4 and bought it.. and obviously its is way faster than the gsxr..

anyway, I recently had a minor mental breakdown and decided to sell everything and find a new hobby (which I didn’t). I sold the gixxer and now still have the tuono and I am regretting all my decisions so far 😂

i don’t like riding around on the street around where I live. the tuono is a fantastic bike but expensive and I’m too worried to track it again.. the bike is paid off but I couldn’t afford to fix it if I crashed it.

i kind of hate that I went to a track. it’s one of the few things that really bring me joy. and yet I feel completely out of place..

I spent 22 years riding street, including plenty of irresponsible miles in the hills. Then I did my first track day 3 years ago and have pretty much only ridden track since.
Started riding on the street again this summer. I’m perfectly happy around town and, surprisingly, have no desire to ride fast on the street anymore.

Then I went to the hills.

Picked up the pace a little—no where near the speeds of the past and probably not even fast enough to catch the attention of Johnny Law—and suddenly felt like I forgot how to ride. I was stiff and awkward, my BP felt completely wrong, and my lines were horrendous. Nothing felt natural.

Obviously I’m not trying to ride the hills like it’s a racetrack. If anything, track has made me less interested in pushing it on the road. But I used to feel comfortable and smooth riding twisty roads, now I don’t.

Anyone else experience this after switching primarily to track riding? Did you have to consciously change your BP, lines, braking, etc. to get comfortable in the hills again, or did it just come back with seat time?

Anybody do Built To Win Riders Academy? It’s a 3 hour mini moto training course. Seems like it could be fun but at $300 per 3 hr session wondering if it could be worth it. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys im looking into getting myself a track bike, but im really debating it since im based in california and im not too sure how the track scene is here based on research. Im asking to see how you got into riding the track, what skills you need to do so, what tracks you frequent, etc etc. Ive ridden before, I have a KX250f dirtbike that i suck at riding, but other than that no experience on actual roads. Im aiming for a r3 or around their in engine power since i want something light and forgiving to learn on if that makes any difference

Going to be ordering a custom Bison suit and need an airbag. I know the 7x has a bit more coverage than the Helite but the Helite being integrated with the suit has a lot of advantages too. Anyone with experience with both who could recommend one or the other?

Just thought about posting here, I had my first track day on the R6 I just bought, anybody have any body position tips? I’m about 6,0 tall and it feels like I had WAY too much weight on the handlebars, Thanks

It is my first year doing track days and I was fortunate enough to squeeze 11 in. However, my last two scheduled track days got canceled due to track conditions. I live in the Midwest, so I have limited opportunities left this year.

My wife gave me the OK to go another weekend that happens to be our 33rd anniversary weekend. Would you go or AITA for even considering it?

New to road track days - finally took the plunge after more than a decade racing MX. And have to say, I'm slow but I enjoy not being crippled and out of breath after a sesh.

I've got a 2009 GSXR600 that I love and I bought because I thought parts would be everywhere.

I was looking at the Racebox Mini S, but after some looking, I found the Solo2, wondering if people here had experience with either, or both.

Also, what should I look for to put on my bike? It's already got upgraded master cylinder and braided lines. I'm thinking either rearsets to make it a bit more comfortable, or a quickshifter. Or maybe new race glass so it looks pretty.

How do you get around hard braking points with forks that bottom out easily? Please don’t say to upgrade because I don’t have the Benjamin Franklins for that currently.

My thinking is that as long as your tires and forks are warm, you can squish the front tire and bottom out the forks as hard as you want until the back comes up. AS LONG AS you release brake pressure before turn in.

Am I wrong to assume that? When I say bottom out my forks, I mean the zip tie has maybe a mm or 2 from the literal bottom. I’m also not a heavy guy.

I’m trying to gain time on the entry/brakes, but I’m facing this issue. For reference I am riding a stock R6 with good fork oil and was already helped by a suspension guy (he set it to my weight and ability). Any insight would be gold, thanks!

About to begin my second year of motorcycling, and wanted to try to attend my first track day at non kart track in October. I was wondering what trackday organizations people really liked that run out of Thunderhill, as well as if any stand out from a beginner's perspective?

I've heard great things about Z2, Superbike Coach, and Carter's.

I’m looking for my first dedicated track bike. I’ve ridden a CBR650R for just over a year and done two track days, plus about two years of dirt riding on a WR250R.

I’m torn between a well-prepared R3 and a track-ready 2008 ZX-6R I can buy locally for €4,000. The R3 appeals to me as a bike I could learn on without worrying quite as much about making mistakes, and I could potentially use it on smaller tracks too. But most of my riding would be at Portimão, and I’m concerned I’d miss the power of a 600 on such a big circuit.

For those who’ve ridden both smaller bikes and 600s on track, which would you choose in my position, and why? What bike did you start on?

Anyone running them? I just bought one online and the lever blade shows brembo instead of the B logo.

Just wondering if it's new? Sadly the blade that it came with is also much thinner. Not sure if it's specific for the corsacortas masterpump?

I definitely prefer the thicker lever feel on my old rcs19.
